OAKLEY, LIVERPOOLDOGISTHE NEWFACEOFPETFOOD

A Liverpool border collie been named the face of Peamutt Butter and will appear in the dog food’s next marketing campaign.

More than 200 dogs from across the UK entered the online competition with just 26 dogs making it through to the semi-final.

One-year-old Peamutt Butter superfan, Oakley was shortlisted in the Northwest category for his loveable, cuddly ways before being crowned top dog. A big fan of digging holes, swimming and getting muddy – it was the dog’s cheeky smile which won the judges over.

Oakley lives with his owner Linda Rose in Speke, Liverpool

The leading Manchester-based dog treat company was looking for a loveable “Peamutt-a-like”, but most importantly a dog with a cheeky or mischievous demeanour, to be the face of their brand.

The winner was chosen by a panel of dog lovers and experts; Manchester-based Dog trainer Janey Baker from Make Fetch Happen, Peamutt Butter’s MD Richard Duerr and head judge; celebrity TV vet and This Morning regular Dr Scott Miller.

The prize includes a celebratory professional photo shoot, a year’s supply of Peamutt Butter products and a £250 donation to a local dog charity of Oakley’s choice His cute, fur-face will also feature on jars of Peamutt Butter in Summer 2025.

Oakley’s owner, Linda Rose said: “I absolutely ecstatic to have won the Peamutt Butter competition. Oakley has always been our pride and joy and we are very proud of him. After we received the news we danced around the room and got straight on the phone to tell the relatives. Oakley – of course – had some Peamutt Butter to celebrate.”

Participating in Liverpool Fashion Week was an incredible experience that truly elevated my journey as a designer. It provided me with a platform to showcase my unique designs to a diverse audience, allowing me to connect with fashion enthusiasts, industry professionals, and potential collaborators.

Being part of such a prestigious event exposed me to the broader fashion world and opened doors to even greater opportunities. How to Cultivate Your Personal Style

If you’re struggling with your relationship to personal style here are my seven tips to help you cultivate it and learn how to shop consciously.

1. Explore the world around you. Start by focusing on the colours, shapes, and textures in your home, including the items we choose to place in it. The stylistic features that draw us into a space, including those we apply to make it our own, tell us a lot about the people we are. The same applies to other environments, especially those we are drawn to. For instance, consider your journey to work, grocery store, park, or beach. What are the colours, shapes, and sounds of these places that you find interesting, stimulating, exciting, attractive? Think about how you can experiment with, and incorporate, these elements into your own personal style. In other words, mine the world around yourself for precious insights into your style. 2. Invest more time into art, architecture, and music.

When you go to play music, what genres and artists speak to you? How would you describe their styles and aesthetics? What kind of art do you like and if you don’t like art, what activities or hobbies interest you?

Fashion is a lot like architecture so consider what building styles resonate with you. Some people prefer ornate details and maximalism while others can admire simpler buildings with a focus on the feat it must have taken to build them. Are you more or a palace of Versailles or the St. Louis Arch kind of person? Maybe you see beauty in both or neither, but which would you rather spend a day in?

Try to make connections between your personal perception of beauty in art to the value you place on your clothes

3. Take into account your needs and boundaries.

Don’t just toss aside your essentials, make sure you think about if the clothes you wear best serve their purpose in your daily life. Consider weather, climate, the physical toll on your body, and your limits when it comes to how much you’re willing to push back against them for fashion. And just because it’s raining or cold, doesn’t mean you need to sacrifice style. It’s all about balance, the balance between our own comforts, needs, and insecurities, while also wanting to look and feel our best.

4. Try new things

It’s easyl to become stuck in what feels most natural for us, but in life it’s important to learn to be comfortable being uncomfortable. This is how we can grow, evolve, and discover things about ourselves that maybe we didn’t expect to find. Try listening to music that you may not normally listen to, or attempt an activity that you know you might not enjoy. There’s always a possibility you can find something surprising in it. By trying you can see the value in it and how it might be influential to others even if it’s not for you. When shopping, don’t be afraid to try on something that at first glance might seem unappealing. Take it as an opportunity to challenge yourself.

5. Block out the haters.

There’s a lot of opinions that go around about fashion and what people are deeming ugly at any point in time, but while opinions can be useful, they can also be a damaging tool that multi million dollar brands use to convince us to spend more money on things we don’t actually need or care about. If you’re trying to genuinely cultivate a personal style, it’s really important to not give in. Just because someone might say skinny jeans are ugly, doesn’t mean many others don’t love them. It’s okay to pick up a trend here or there, some of them you may fall in love with and cling onto even after they go out of style .just try to stay open minded and not have too many strong opinions until you can better understand your own fashion sense first.

Bold Hearts, New Beginnings: Confidence in Every Connection..... with Andreas Dating Coach

Dating over 40: Why It’s Your Superpower

Turning 40 often feels like crossing an invisible threshold Society might nudge you towards settling down or slowing down, but here’s the truth: dating over 40 isn’t a compromise; it’s a superpower With age comes a clarity, confidence, and self-awareness that transforms the dating game into something far more rewarding than the fumbling romances of youth. First, let’s talk experience.

Then there’s confidence.

By 40, you’ve likely navigated a few relationships; some brilliant, some disastrous. Each one has taught you what works and what doesn’t. You’re not swayed by fleeting charm or empty promises; you’ve got a sharper eye for red flags and a better grasp of what you actually want.

That’s not baggage it’s wisdom.

While twenty-somethings might still be figuring out who they are, you’ve got a head start. You know your values, your quirks, and your non-negotiables, making you a more decisive dater.

At 40, you’re less likely to twist yourself into knots to impress someone. You’ve shed the insecurities that once made you second-guess your worth. You’re not afraid to say no or to walk away from a mismatch. That quiet assurance is magnetic; it draws people in because it’s authentic. Younger daters might chase validation; you’re past that. You’re not here to play games or waste time, and that’s a strength others can’t help but notice.

Time itself becomes an ally, too. Over 40, you’re more selective, prioritising quality over quantity. This shift isn’t about settling; it’s about knowing life’s too short for anything less than genuine connection.

Plus, the dating pool widens in brilliant ways You’re meeting people who’ve lived a little; divorcees, single parents, careerchangers; each with stories and depth that make for richer relationships.

Finally, there’s freedom.

You’re less bound by societal timelines; marriage by 30, kids by 35. You can focusing on what makes you happy, not what’s expected. So, embrace it.

Legendary space-rock pioneers Hawkwind return with their latest studio album, There Is No Space For Us. Following 2024’s critically acclaimed Stories From Time And Space and recent triple disc live album Live At The Royal Albert Hall, this new release develops the dystopian themes of recent albums and the cosmic, almost metaphysical perspective on humanity’s place in the universe through expansive soundscapes and electrifying psychedelic rock.

Blending hypnotic rhythms, immersive synths, and driving guitar riffs, There Is No Space For Us takes listeners on an interstellar voyage from the synth laden thunderous opening track There Is Still Danger There to the eerie, atmospheric depths and outstanding heights of Space Continues (Lifeform). Tracks like the acoustic led TheCoPilot (a song which transforms multiple times across 8 minutes) and title track There Is No Space For Us (the definition of what a “space western” should sound like) showcase the band's signature fusion of chugging guitars, electronic

rhythms, and grand science fiction vision of human destiny. Another stand-out moment is the frenzied theremin laced freak-out of Neutron Stars, while A Long Long Way From Home delivers a melancholic yet powerful crescendo, reflecting on the fragile nature of existence in an ever-expanding universe.

See them on 10 May 25 Liverpool M&S Bank Arena Hawkwind are Dave Brock, Richard Chadwick, Magnus Martin, Doug MacKinnon and Tim "Thighpaulsandra" Lewis.

Tired of Being Stressed.

Since I was 18 years old I have been financially independent. I have been responsible for making every mortgage payment, every bill payment and every financial decision. I have navigated employment, redundancy four times and self employment and irregularity of payments from clients for the last 17 years. That is, after I have hustled for the clients. It can be stressful at times to the point when I want to scream or cry and not talk to anyone. I have now reached a point when I said to myself. “Enough is enough.”

It’s not a dramatic breakdown.

It’s more like a quiet moment of rebellion where I realise that I am tired. Tired of overthinking, tired of the mental spreadsheets, tired of holding my breath waiting for things to settle down and I am going with the flow.

I’ve been running on adrenaline for years. Micromanaging everything across two countries and I just can’t be bothered any more. I am a great planner, want to.

I can work to deadlines, turn up to every meeting 10 minutes early, reply to all my emails and texts within 2 hours but the stress doesn’t go away. Until really recently.

I came back to the UK wired as fuck and surviving on five hours sleep as usual but I have had time to sit and look at my life. Whatever has happened I have still managed to pay all my bills singlehandedly. No man, no distant relative and and no fairy godmother has helped me and yet I have managed to keep it all ticking over.So I am being kinder to myself. I am not going to feel guilty or explain myself for sitting on a beach or spending time in the gym or taking a day off if I want to.

I am letting go of the stress. Things always work out for me as I put in the work but I am stopping trying to predetermine events. Life doesn’t have to be harder than it is and I am embracing the “let them” culture.

For me, my letting go means saying no without writing a lengthy explanation. Just because I said so is enough. My friendship circle has got smaller because I don’t have to love people’s choices just to fit in. I’ll let them get on with whatever they want to do without me.

I have read enough self help books to know that the universe does have my back and I trust that while I don’t have all the answers today, it’s ok. Things will work out and if they don’t, then there’s another plan that will come to fruition that will work out for me.

For the last two years I questioned the lesson of my failed relationship with someone I was infatuated with. I kept asking myself why did he come in to disrupt my life? I finally realised the answers.

He taught me to set boundaries and to love myself and to put my needs first in order to be happy.

Do you know how much energy it takes to live in resistance. Fighting our feelings and resisting what’s happening. We may not like what’s going on but we can stop fighting for what we want as I believe things will eventually come to plan, even if it takes a little longer than I hoped. I want a trusting and honest relationship but I can’t force it with anyone and I’ve let go of expecting it. It will happen when it happens. And you know what? Letting go of everything on my mental wishlist has been so liberating. Even my friends this week have said I look lighter. The knots in my stomach have untangled. The noise in my head has gone softer and I breathe deeper. I have stopped swimming against the tide and I am absolutely confident I am going to be swept up somewhere better. Reminding myself that peace isn't earned—it’s chosen and it’s a lovely way to live.
