When I launched this magazine five years ago, I set out to create something that felt like a conversation with a friend honest, stylish, inspiring, and full of life I wanted to capture the rhythm of Cyprus living and the beautiful lifestyle we’re so lucky to enjoy everday, Today, as we celebrate this milestone, I couldn’t be more proud of how far the magazine has come
Over the years, I’ve shared stories that matter, spotlighted entrepreneurs that inspire, and built a community that continues to grow.. From fashion and lifestyle, to wellness to culture and interiors, our pages have always been a love letter to modern living and to you, our readers, who make it all worthwhile
Thank you for being with me on this journey Here’s to five fabulous years and many more to come. With love and endless gratitude,
How did you come up with your drag name?
Contrary to what people want to hear it was actually a very unimaginative process… I found the name pretty and it reflected my Italian roots and came up with this.
How would you describe your drag persona in three words?
Classy, bright and different. A variety of people and things inspire different elements of my drag. For example, my comedy is inspired by greats such as Joan Rivers - my persona inspired by the the strong Italian women in my life. My work ethic by people like Lady Gaga.
How do you prepare for a show, both mentally and physically?
I take my time before a show to get ready with ease… Relaxing my mind perhaps watching a few episodes of the Golden Girls.
How do you create your look?
I get inspired by random things and then an image of what I would like when appear in my mind and I send it straight to my costume designer of whom I have about four and then together we go through the process of making it a reality.
What’s your go-to lip sync song? No, I'm primarily a live singer but if I had to lip sync, it would be anything that brings the drama and for sure from a musical theatre soundtrack.
Who’s your ultimate fashion icon, in or out of drag?
It's a toss up between Lady Gaga and Italian legend Raffaella Carrà
How has your style evolved since you first started drag?
Trial and error over the years and working with other queens and being inspired and for sure performing in Mykonos for years alongside some exceptional queens like my sister Athena Dion, polished me up to be the queen that I am today.
What got you into drag in the first place?
Peer pressure back in Sicily 2014. Never thought in a million years it was the career I would have been doing.
How has drag influenced your identity or personal growth?
I've learned a lot about myself - my positives and negatives- i've learned to see myself from the outside looking in and that's when the party really begins.
Tell us about your costumes - They're fabulous handmade creations that represent elements of who I am as a performer - my favourite being my gold bodysuit set by US designer Eddie Cotoure.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out in drag?
Create a character first, get to know yourself, write an act and then everything else generally falls into place
How do you see drag contributing to the LGBTQ+ community?
Many Drag queens are activists for the lgbtq+ and use their platform to speak up for the community. They create safe spaces not only for lgbtq+ people but also for women.
How has the drag scene changed since you started?
It's a lot more concentrated that's for sure but it's fascinating to constantly see new styles of drag popping up and different takes on the art.
How do you support and uplift other queens or performers?
I offer advice when asked.
What’s something your fans would be shocked to learn about you?
I'm an Eastenders addict.
What do you love about Diamonds Showbar and what are your performance dates?
It's a fabulous location, unlike any other in the town. I don't want to give too much away because I want audiences to come and experience everything firsthand. A wonderful Team show and experience awaits.
Halloumiproducersbattletosafeguarditsiconiccheese asUStariffsandstrictEUregulationsputitsprizedexport atrisk.
Halloumi is Cyprus’ top export, with shipments reaching 42,427 tonnes worth €324 million last year. Half of these sales go to the UK, while the rest are spread across 45 countries.
The Cyprus dairy producers’ association have warned that while new American import taxes will have a “limited” economic impact, a far greater threat looms: potential EU rules that could slash overseas sales by up to 60 per cent.
The US recently imposed a 10 per cent tariff on halloumi, affecting roughly €10 million of annual exports, just 3 per cent of the cheese’s total overseas sales. But the real danger, producers say, lies in Brussels.
Proposed EU protected designation of origin (PDO) rules could demand that halloumi contain at least 51 per cent goat and sheep milk by 2029, a requirement Cyprus claims is impossible to meet due to limited local supplies.
Cyprus has introduced a digital system to track milk supplies, ensuring current PDO quotas (20 per cent goat/sheep milk until July, 15 per cent thereafter) are met. The agriculture ministry and President Nikos Christodoulides have pledged to defend halloumi’s reputation.
A newly formed halloumi protection committee, chaired by Stavros Stavrou, head of Cyprus’ Chamber of Commerce, will be pushing for a compromise in EU negotiations. Producers argue that if the 51 per cent goat milk rule proves unworkable, Cyprus must amend the PDO file, or risk devastating an industry that supports over 15,000 jobs.
A spokesperson said, “We must act wisely, halloumi’s place on the world’s plates depends on it.”
Turning 40 often feels like crossing an invisible threshold. Society might nudge you towards settling down or slowing down, but here’s the truth: dating over 40 isn’t a compromise; it’s a superpower. With age comes a clarity, confidence, and self-awareness that transforms the dating game into something far more rewarding than the fumbling romances of youth
First, let’s talk experience. By 40, you’ve likely navigated a few relationships; some brilliant, some disastrous. Each one has taught you what works and what doesn’t You’re not swayed by fleeting charm or empty promises; you’ve got a sharper eye for red flags and a better grasp of what you actually want. That’s not baggage it’s wisdom. While 20-somethings might still be figuring out who they are, you’ve got a head start. You know your values, your quirks, and your non-negotiables, making you a more decisive dater.
Then there’s confidence. At 40, you’re less likely to twist yourself into knots to impress someone. You’ve shed the insecurities that once made you second-guess your worth. You’re not afraid to say no or to walk away from a mismatch. That quiet assurance is magnetic; it draws people in because it’s authentic Younger daters might chase validation; you’re past that. You’re not here to play games or waste time, and that’s a strength others can’t help but notice.
v
Time itself becomes an ally, too Over 40, you’re more selective, prioritising quality over quantity. You’d rather enjoy a meaningful conversation over coffee than endure a string of awkward first dates This shift isn’t about settling; it’s about knowing life’s too short for anything less than genuine connection. Plus, the dating pool widens in brilliant ways. You’re meeting people who’ve lived a little; divorcees, single parents, careerchangers; each with stories and depth that make for richer relationships
Finally, there’s freedom. You’re less bound by societal timelines; marriage by 30, kids by 35. Dating over 40 lets you rewrite the rules, focusing on what makes you happy, not what’s expected. So, embrace it. Your superpower lies in your experience, your confidence, and your refusal to settle.
At 40, dating isn’t a chore; it’s a chance to shine.

The Hearing Month is celebrated every year in May and is the largest global awareness campaign for ear care and the prevention of hearing loss. This month was recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and emphasizes the importance of implementing public health strategies to preventtheseissueson agloballevel.
According to the WHO, over 1.5 billion people worldwide live with some form of hearing loss, while nearly 430 million people live with disablinghearingloss. The majority of these individuals come from low- and middleincome countries, where they often lack access to the necessary services and interventions to addresstheproblem.
Early diagnosis and timely intervention can significantly help restore hearing or prevent further damage
Effective strategies include: limit excessive exposure to loud sounds: If you listen to music with headphones, lower the volume to 60% and limit listening time. Use hearing protection: When in noisy environments such as concerts or construction sites, use earplugs to protect your ears. Regular hearing checks: Early detection can help address hearing loss before it becomes a serious issue.
Avoiding inserting objects in the ear: Do not use objects that can damage the ear canal Visit a specialist for cleaning if needed
While prevention is the best strategy, the global increase in hearing loss cases presents a significant challenge for the future. Exposure to noisy environments, population aging, and the lack of access to healthcare services are some of the main reasons that contribute to the rise of these problems.
To minimize this increase, it is crucial to integrate hearing care into health systems at both national and international levels. Proper hearing care is essential for the quality of life of everyone, regardless of age, and with action and collaboration from all relevant stakeholders, we can ensure a future with better hearing for all.

Tell us about your business and how did it start -
When I came to Cyprus I had an idea of making Resin items and selling at craft fayres. Although it’s been fun and I’ve met lots of people there are not many events this side of the Island and I was travelling a lot so losing any income in travel expenses I then applied for a selling licence for the Protaras strip to sell my items to tourists. I changed my product lines and made things with Cyprus and Protaras on them which I feel tourists will appreciate and so far have gone down well.
What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever found on the beach—and did it make it into a paperweight?
Ah well the weirdest thing has been men’s and ladies underwear so they have not been turned into paperweights Recently I stood on a fisherman’s hook and line it looks like a fish and apparently is used for catching octopus so that is now a paperweight
Do you consider yourself more of a treasure hunter or a magpie. I think a treasure hunter and beach eco warrior perhaps. Cleaning the plastics off the beach not only makes the beaches look better but helps preserve the sea life too. Microplastics get into our food system and it’s not good for sea life beach life or humans I don’t feel Cyprus has the foresight to look at the future of our beaches we need to work together to clean up Cyprus as a whole and recycle.
Is there a beach that’s your absolute goldmine for rubbish.
All the beaches sadly are full of microplastics. We can clear the larger pieces easily but we really need to look at sieving the sand to get out the rubbish and small pieces of plastic I can put most things I collect into the paperweight but it’s telling the story behind it that sells the product and makes people think about things.
What’s the process of turning beach junk into something that sits proudly on someone’s desk?
I collect the plastics and shells through the winter as it’s too cold to make the items as they need heat and lower humidity to have the least amount of air bubbles whilst curing. I sit and plan what is going into each piece, if there is a child bucket that’s broken and has an image on it I’ll try and make sure that is seen. Bright colours are more attractive so I tend to use them in the seals and the blues and whites in the whales. All the plastic straws get cut up and added to smaller items like key rings and necklaces
Do you have a favourite piece that you’ve made?
My favourite pieces to make are the trays and pictures of the ocean with shells sand and bling. I can use my artistic flare with these and make them pretty as well as useful I also make memorial pieces for loved ones and animals, they are harder to make because of the emotions involved and you want to do your best for that person and their memory.
What makes you giddy when you spot it in the sand?
Pretty shells and sea glass are my favourites they add so much to something you are making. Glass reflects through the resin and catches the sunlight beautifully too.
My products are made from epoxy resin, it’s two parts that have to mixed together carefully to get the reaction called polymerisation it has to be exact measurements to cure properly You can add many things to resin like dried flowers, plastics photos colours arts and craft pieces and then make them fun and colourful. I love making the commissions for people that’s the artistic part and I’m trying to get the hang of free form vases at the moment. It’s all a learning process but an expensive one If I charged for all my time it takes I’d never selI my items but I came to Cyprus for happiness and better health lifestyle which using art as part of this helps my mental and physical health and introduces me to many people As long as I make a bit for my self the rest goes back into resin and more craft supplies, I’m happy and it’s fun. I recently made all my wedding favours and decorations and everyone loved them

Pisces (19 Feb – 20 March)- You might experience a sudden and powerful need to take a break if you’ve been focusing too much on your daily routines. You may be looking at your intimate world by reassessing whether you’re deriving satisfaction from the relationships that are currently in place.
Since I was 18 years old I have been financially independent. I have been responsible for making every mortgage payment, every bill payment and every financial decision. I have navigated employment, redundancy four times and self employment and irregularity of payments from clients for the last 17 years. That is, after I have hustled for the clients. It can be stressful at times to the point when I want to scream or cry and not talk to anyone. I have now reached a point when I said to myself. “Enough is enough.”
It’s not a dramatic breakdown. It’s more like a quiet moment of rebellion where I realise that I am tired. Tired of overthinking, tired of the mental spreadsheets, tired of holding my breath waiting for things to settle down and I am going with the flow.
I’ve been running on adrenaline for years. Micromanaging everything across two countries and I just can’t be bothered any more. I am a great planner, I can work to deadlines, turn up to every meeting 10 minutes early, reply to all my emails and texts within 2 hours but the stress doesn’t go away. Until really recently.
I came back to the UK wired as fuck and surviving on five hours sleep as usual but I have had time to sit and look at my life. Whatever has happened I have still managed to pay all my bills singlehandedly.
No man, no distant relative and certainly no fairy godmother has helped me and yet I have managed to keep it all ticking over.So I am being kinder to myself. I am not going to feel guilty or explain myself for sitting on a beach or spending time in the gym or taking a day off if I want to. I am letting go of the stress. Things always work out for me as I put in the work but I am stopping trying to predetermine events. Life doesn’t have to be harder than it is and I am embracing the “let them” culture. For me, my letting go means saying no without writing a lengthy explanation. Just because I said so is enough. My friendship circle has got smaller because I don’t have to love people’s choices just to fit in. I’ll let them get on with whatever they want to do without me.
I have read enough self help books to know that the universe does have my back and I trust that while I don’t have all the answers today, it’s ok. Things will work out and if they don’t, then there’s another plan that will come to fruition that will work out for me.
For the last two years I kept questioning the lesson of my failed relationship with someone I was infatuated with. I kept asking myself why did he come in to disrupt my life? I finally let it go last month with all the answers to my questions. He taught me to set boundaries and to love myself and to put my needs first in order to be happy. And to never accept breadcrumbs in affection.
I Do you know how much energy it takes to live in resistance. Fighting our feelings and resisting what’s happening. We may not like what’s going on but we can stop fighting for what we want as I believe things will eventually come to plan, even if it takes a little longer than I hoped. I want a trusting and honest relationship but I can’t force it with anyone and I’ve let go of expecting it. It will happen when it happens. And you know what? Letting go of everything on my mental wishlist has been so liberating. Even my friends this week have said I look lighter.
The knots in my stomach have untangled. The noise in my head has gone softer and I breathe deeper. I have stopped swimming against the tide and I am absolutely confident I am going to be swept up somewhere better. Reminding myself that peace isn't earned—it’s chosen and it’s a lovely way to live
