Seit der Eröffnung des Platzes ist das Golfspielen auf Son Gual von einer groβartigen Atmosphäre geprägt gewesen. Immer mehr gute Freunde teilen unseren Alltag hier und wir möchten die Gelegenheit nutzen, Ihnen allen für Ihre geschätzte Verbundenheit herzlich zu danken. In der vorliegenden Ausgabe unseres SON GUAL GOLF MAGAZINE erwarten Sie wieder interessante Themen. Wir sprechen über die Vorteile und informieren Sie über Neuigkeiten in der Golfanlage z.B. die Zusammenarbeit mit einem Clubmaker. La vida sigue transcurriendo en Son Gual con la misma buena atmósfera de todos estos años. Life goes on at Son Gual with the same good atmosphere that has reigned all these years. More and more good friends form part of our everyday life, friends we thank for showing us their appreciation for what we do – which is really for them - day after day. Ich hatte gleich dieses gewisse Gefühl. Ich schätze es, wenn die Dinge liebevoll gemacht werden und Son Gual ist ein mit viel Liebe angelegter Platz. Seit wann sind Sie Mitglied und warum haben Sie sich für eine Mitgliedschaft entschieden? Ich habe schon immer gern auf Son Gual gespielt, aber in letzter Zeit habe ich mich auf dem Platz noch wohler gefühlt. Und so habe ich mich vor einem Monat für die Mitgliedschaft entschieden. Der Service, die aufmerksame Betreuung und die Anlagen vermitteln mir das Gefühl, schon mein ganzes Leben hier Mitglied zu sein. Was mögen Sie auf Son Gual am meisten, welcher Teil der Bahnen gefällt Ihnen am besten? Von dem Moment an, an dem ich auf das Gelände fahre und mein Auto parke, gefällt mir einfach alles. Der Übungsplatz, das Clubhaus, die Terrassen, das erlesene Restaurant... Die Strecke ist sehr anspruchsvoll und ausgezeichnet gepflegt. Haben Sie eine besondere Erinnerung an ein Turnier oder Event auf Son Gual? Unser Unternehmen Relojería Alemana hat viele Jahre lang die Rolex Trophy auf Son Gual ausgetragen und sowohl wir als auch die Teilnehmer haben uns hier immer sehr wohlgefühlt. 10

What was your first impression of Son Gual? It made me feel special. I love it when things are done with great care and affection. And Son Gual is a course made with plenty of loving care. What made you join this club, and how long have you been a member? I always enjoyed playing on Son Gual, but recently I felt even more at home here than ever, so a month ago I decided to become a member. The service, the welcoming treatment and the installations make me feel as though I had been a member my whole life. What is your favourite space in Son Gual? And which part of the course do you like the best? I like everything, from the moment I enter the club and park my car, the practice court, the clubhouse, the terraces, the restaurant and the food it serves... As for the course itself, I consider it to be very demanding and very well looked-after, too. Do you have any particularly special memories of any events or tournaments held at Son Gual? For many years now our company, Relojería Alemana, has been holding the Rolex Trophy at Son Gual, and both we ourselves and those who take part in it have always felt extremely satisfied.

¿Cuál fue su primera impresión de Son Gual? Me hizo sentirme especial. Me encanta cuando se hacen las cosas con cariño. Y Son Gual es un campo hecho con mucho amor. ¿Qué le llevó a ser miembro de este campo, y desde cuándo lo es? Siempre me ha hecho ilusión jugar en Son Gual, pero últimamente me encontraba mucho más a gusto que nunca, así que hace un mes decidí hacerme socio. El servicio, las atenciones y las instalaciones me hacen sentir como si lo fuera de toda la vida. ¿Cuál es su espacio favorito de Son Gual? ¿Y su parte preferida del recorrido? Me gusta todo, desde el momento en el que entro en el recinto y aparco el coche, el campo de prácticas, la casa club, las terrazas, el restaurante y su comida... En cuanto al recorrido, considero que es muy exigente y está muy bien cuidado. ¿Tiene algún recuerdo particularmente especial de algún evento o torneo celebrado en Son Gual? Nuestra empresa, Relojería Alemana, ha celebrado en Son Gual durante muchos años el Trofeo Rolex y, tanto nosotros como los participantes, nos hemos sentido siempre muy satisfechos.

TONI COLL Y CÉSAR ALVÁREZ „Die Herausforderung ist es einen perfekten Rasen zu erreichen“ ‘The challenge is to achieve a perfect grass’ “El reto es conseguir una hierba perfecta” Worin besteht Ihre Arbeit bei Golf Son Gual? Wir kümmern uns um die Beregnung des Rasens, damit auf dem Platz stets perfekte Spielbedingungen herrschen. Ein Teil des Bewässerungssystems ist vollautomatisch, unsere Aufgabe ist es, das System instandzuhalten und seine perfekte Funktionsweise zu garantieren. Ein anderer Teil des Platzes wird per Hand bewässert. Mit Hilfe von Luftfeuchtigkeitssensoren ermitteln wir, je nach Bedarf, die Wassermenge und planen die Beregnung. 12

What does your work at Golf Son Gual consist of? Our challenge is to ensure that the grass is perfect for play by controlling the amount of water it receives. Part of the course irrigation is automated, and we carry out frequent maintenance to make sure that the watering systems are working perfectly. And there is also a manual part, where we calculate and schedule the watering depending on what the course needs, with the help of the humidity sensors.

¿En qué consiste su trabajo en Golf Son Gual? Nuestro reto es conseguir que la hierba esté perfecta para el juego controlando el agua que recibe. Existe una parte automatizada del riego del campo a la que hacemos un mantenimiento frecuente para asegurar que los sistemas de riego funcionan perfectamente. También hay una parte manual en la que calculamos y programamos el riego en función de las necesidades del campo con ayuda de los sensores de humedad.

Ist es schwierig, Wassermanagement und optimale Spielbedingungen unter einen Hut zu bekommen? Im Sommer ist es wegen des ausbleibenden Regens gar nicht so einfach, denn normalerweise beregnen wir den Platz in der heiβen Jahreszeit mindestens einmal täglich. Son Gual verfügt über eine moderne Wasseraufbereitungsanlage, damit kein Wasser verschwendet wird. Das ist sehr wichtig. Was gefällt Ihnen an Ihrer Arbeit am besten? Wir haben das groβe Glück, in einer wunderschönen, angenehmen Umgebung zu arbeiten. Und wir sind stolz darauf, dass wir es geschafft haben, den Rasen auch im Sommer grün zu halten. Welches Computersystem verwenden Sie? Ein Computer ist mit dem Cirrus-PC von Rainbird verbunden. Von der Firma beziehen wir sämtliche Teile unseres Bewässerungssystems. Über eine Fernsteuerung können wir die Bewässerung des gesamten Platzes oder eines bestimmten Bereiches programmieren. Welcher Unterschied besteht zwischen dem System auf Son Gual und den Systemen anderer Golfplätze? Auf Son Gual wird alles zentral gesteuert, andere Plätze sind mit einer Satellitensteuerung für jede Bahn ausgestattet. Der Vorteil eines zentralen Systems sind zum einen die geringeren Kosten, zum anderen die Verlässlichkeit der Anlage. Jeder Segmentregner wird individuell und unabhängig von den anderen gesteuert, wenn einer ausfällt, funktionieren die anderen trotzdem. Wie wirkt sich die Wasserqualität Mallorcas aus? Wir verwenden aufbereitetes Wasser, das durch die Klärung sehr hart ist. Das gereinigte Wasser wird in der Osmose-Anlage aufbereitet. Dabei regulieren wir den PH-Wert durch Zusatz einer säurehaltigen Substanz. So leidet der Rasen weniger und hat maximale Qualität.

Is it difficult to keep the course in optimum condition, and make sure it gets the water it needs? Summer is more complicated due to the low level of rainfall during those months of the year. During this season, we normally water the course at least once a day. But it is very important not to waste water, so at Son Gual, we hae water treatment equipment so that we can re-use it. What do you like the most about your work? We are fortunate enough to work in beautiful, pleasant surroundings. And seeing how we manage to keep the grass green in summer is another source of great satisfaction. What computer system do you use? We have a PC connected to the Cirrus system of the company that supplies us with all the material for the irrigation equipment, Rainbird. With it we can choose a remotelycontrolled system for watering, or we can programme it to water the whole course or a specific area. What is the level of this system compared to other courses? On our course everything is centralised. On other courses, they have different satellites for each fairway. What is the advantage? Well, as well as having a much lower cost, each sprinkler is independent, so if it breaks down, only one goes wrong and not all of them. How does the quality of the water in Mallorca affect the grass? We use purified water, so it is very hard, but we treat it in the osmosis plant and regulate its PH with an injection of acid so that it doesn’t affect the lawns, in order to bring it up to maximum quality.

¿Es difícil mantener el campo en condiciones óptimas y con el agua necesaria? En verano es más complicado por la escasa lluvia durante esos meses del año. En esa época solemos regar todo el campo al menos una vez al día. Es muy importante no desperdiciar agua. Por ese motivo, en Son Gual, contamos con un equipo de tratamientos del agua para poder reutilizarla. ¿Qué es lo que más les gusta de su trabajo? Tenemos la suerte de trabajar en un entorno muy bonito y agradable. También es muy satisfactorio ver cómo en verano conseguimos mantener el color verde de la hierba. ¿Qué sistema de ordenadores emplean? Disponemos de un PC conectado al sistema Cirrus de la empresa que nos distribuye todo el material para el equipo de riego, Rainbird. A través de éste podemos elegir un sistema de control remoto para regar o lo podemos programar para que riegue todo el campo o una zona en concreto. ¿Qué nivel tiene este sistema respecto a otros campos? En nuestro campo está todo centralizado. En otros campos tienen satélites diferentes para cada calle. ¿Cuál es la ventaja? Que además de suponer menos coste cada aspersor es independiente, por lo que si se estropea, se estropea solamente uno y no todos. ¿Cómo afecta la calidad del agua de Mallorca? Usamos agua depurada, por lo que es muy dura, pero la tratamos en la planta de osmosis y regulamos su PH con una inyección de ácido, para que no afecte al césped tratando de mejorar su calidad al máximo. Ich bin dem Golf seit elf Jahren verbunden und gehöre zu den 100 besten fitters der Welt. Worin besteht Ihre Arbeit? Einen Golfschläger für einen Spieler anzupassen erfordert viel Hingabe. Es ist, als ob Sie einen Maβanzug bestellen. Ein erstes persönliches Gespräch dient dem Kennenlernen und dem Ausloten der Bedürfnisse des Spielers. Dann schaue ich mir seine physischen Merkmale und das Handicap an. Ich setze auf traditionelles japanisches fitting, bei dem das feeling des Spielers an erster Stelle steht, es ist wichtig, dass er sich mit seinem Schläger wohlfühlt. Schlieβlich prüfe ich die Schwungmöglichkeiten, mein Ziel ist es, dass der Spieler mit höchstmöglicher Präzision spielen kann. Gefällt Ihnen Golf Son Gual als Arbeitsort? Der Club mit seiner ruhigen Atmosphäre ist einfach idyllisch. Viele Pros und Amateuergolfer wollen individuell anpasste Schläger haben. Hier können sie in Ruhe ausprobieren und werden während des gesamten Prozesses der Anpassung exzellent betreut.

fied to make clubs properly from scratch. I have been in the world of golf for eleven years now, and I am one of the 100 best fitters in the world. What does your work consist of? Designing an club that is appropriate for a given player requires a great deal of dedication. To give you an idea, it’s rather like ordering a tailored suit. We start with a personal interview, in order to get to know the player and see what his needs are. Then I study his physical characteristics and handicap. I follow the rules of traditional Japanese fitting, which is based on guiding oneself by feelings based on the impression of each player. The most important thing is to feel comfortable. On the technology side, I study efficiency. My goal is to achieve maximum player precision. What is your opinion of Golf Son Gual as a place in which to carry out your work? Son Gual is idyllic because it has an extremely calm atmosphere. What does your work consist of, and how long have you been at Son Gual? I began working as a personal trainer in 2008 and I have been training my clients on the island using the EMS method for three years. I have been offering this training at Son Gual since last summer, exclusively for members of the club. What is electromuscular stimulation (EMS) for? With the EMS method both amateur and professional golfers can train in a personalized, precise fashion in order to improve their game. Physical force, stability, flexibility and above all the speed of one’s movements are all increased considerably in a quantifiable, efficient manner, through a training method that protects the joints. En Son Gual ofrezco este entrenamiento desde el pasado verano, exclusivamente para los socios del club. ¿Para qué sirve la estimulación electromuscular (EMS)? Con el método EMS, los golfistas, tanto amateurs como profesionales, pueden entrenar de forma personalizada y precisa a fin de mejorar su juego. Se aumenta, de forma muy eficaz, considerable y comprobable, la fuerza física, estabilidad, flexibilidad y, sobre todo, la velocidad de los movimientos. Wie bei anderen Schnellkraft-Sportarten ist auch beim Golf die Rumpfmuskulatur von zentraler Bedeutung: sie ist das Bindeglied zwischen der oberen Extremität (Schläger) und den Beinen (Stand). Bei meinem EMS Training wird immer ein ausgewogenes Ganzkörpertraining mit individuell gesetzten Schwerpunkten durchgeführt um sicher zu stellen, dass nicht nur Muskulatur sondern auch muskuläre Funktionalität aufgebaut wird. Diese muskuläre Funktionalität verbessert sowohl das Golfspiel an sich und hilft auch in allen anderen Lebenslagen indem die Körperhaltung, Ausdauer und Regernationszeit verbessert wird. Wie lange dauert eine Trainingseinheit? Da mit Hilfe von elektrischen Impulsen annähernd 100% der Muskeln zeitgleich trainiert werden und sich diese Impulse kräftigend und straffend auf die gesamte Skelettmuskulatur auswirken, wird so mit EMS Training Mallorca ein effektives Ganzkörpertraining in nur 20 Minuten (2x pro Woche) ermöglicht. EMSTraining ist somit ein schnelles, zeitsparendes und gelenkschonendes Muskel- und Fitnesstraining in einem.

What other exercises that are specifically for golf do you do with the players? In golf, as in other sports that require a swift effort, the muscles of the torso play a decisive part, bearing in mind that this part of the body is the nexus between the upper extremity (club) and the legs (vertical position). In my training sessions we always develop balanced, full-body training, setting individual objectives, with the aim not only of strengthening the muscles, but also of promoting muscular functionality. This improves our game in itself, but also helps to perfect our condition in all life situations, improving posture, stamina and regeneration time. How long do the training sessions last? Thanks to the electrical impulses nearly all the muscles can be trained at the same time. And since these impulses produce a strengthening and toning of the skeletal muscles, clients of EMS Training Mallorca can train their entire body in just 20 minutes, twice a week. The EMS method is a quick sports practice that saves time, and also a sports and muscle training session that protects the joints.

En mis sesiones siempre desarrollamos un equilibrado entrenamiento del cuerpo entero, marcando objetivos individuales, con el fin de fortalecer no sólo la musculatura sino además fomentando la funcionalidad muscular. Esta última mejora el juego en sí pero, además, contribuye a perfeccionar nuestra condición en todas las situaciones de la vida, mejorando nuestra postura, nuestra resistencia y el tiempo de regeneración. ¿Cuánto tiempo duran los entrenamientos? Gracias a los impulsos eléctricos se puede entrenar al mismo tiempo casi la totalidad de los músculos. Debido a que éstos impulsos producen un fortalecimiento y una tonificación de los músculos esqueléticos, el cliente de EMS Training Mallorca puede realizar un entrenamiento del cuerpo entero en tan sólo 20 minutos, dos días a la semana. Fritzi ist eine ganz besondere, groβartige Dame, sie liebt Schmusen, egal mit wem. Denn Fritzi ist die wahre Chefin auf Son Gual. Sie schwimmt gern im Teich und jagt zum Vergnügen sämtlichen Enten hinterher. Gefangen hat sie bis jetzt aber noch keine! Fritzi ist ein wichtiger Bestandteil unseres Teams.

Josy ist anderen Hunden gegenüber sehr schüchtern. Nur ihre Herrchen dürfen sie anfassen. Da die Hundedame schon etwas betagt ist, sieht und hört sie fast nichts mehr. Trotzdem weiβ sie nur zu gut, wo die Tür zur Restaurantküche ist, sie ist halt ein Leckermäulchen.

This little one is an orphan from the Felanitx dog pound. He’s a little angel, always active and happy. He gets on well with children and strangers. He is an enthusiastic worker and has adapted extremely well to all the dogs at Son Gual.

Fritzi is a fantastic, really special dog. She loves being made a fuss of and doesn’t mind by whom. She is the “Boss” of Son Gual. Auf Son Gual ist er jetzt glücklich vereint mit seinem besten Freund Rudi. Hombre ist ausgeglichen, ruhig, zärtlich und seinen Herrchen treu ergeben. Auβerdem ist er ein ausgezeichneter Wachhund, der nicht viel bellt.

Rudi fanden wir auf dem Land. Manchmal ist er ein bisschen knurrig, aber das ist nur zu Anfang so. Wenn er einmal gemerkt hat, dass man ihm nichts Böses will, lässt er sich gern streicheln.

Josy is very shy with other dogs. Nobody but her owner can touch her and because of her old age, she can hardly see or hear anything. In spite of this, she knows very well where the restaurant kitchen door is and she loves eating.

At Son Gual he lives happily with his best friend, Rudi. He is placid, affectionate with his owners, loyal to his master, an excellent watchdog who doesn’t bark much and has a balanced personality.

400g Babyspinat, 6 Scheiben Räucherspeck, 1 EL Pinienkerne, 1 EL geschälte Nüsse, 1 EL Rosinen, 1 dl Balsámico-Essig von Módena, 125 g Blauschimmelkäse (Roquefort), 20 g Röstbrot (Crostinis), Kalt gepresstes Olivenöl.

400 g baby spinach, 6 rashers of bacon, 1 spoonful of pine nuts, 1 spoonful of walnuts, 1 spoonful of raisins, 1 dl balsamic vinegar of Modena, 125 g blue cheese (like Roquefort), 20 g croutons, Virgin olive oil.

400 g de espinacas baby, 6 lonchas de bacon, 1 cucharada de piñones, 1 cucharada de nueces peladas, 1 cucharada de pasas, 1 dl de vinagre balsámico de Módena, 125 g de queso azul ( tipo Roquefort ), 20 g de crostones de pan, aceite de oliva virgen.

4 Eigelb, 125 dl Milch, 250 dl Sahne, 3,5 EL Zucker, 1 Vanillestange, Abgeriebene Zitronen- und Orangenschale.

4 egg yolks, 125 dl milk, 250 dl cream, 3.5 spoonfuls of sugar, 1 vanilla pod, lemon and orange peel.

4 yemas de huevo, 125 dl de leche, 250 dl de nata, 3,5 cucharas de azúcar, 1 rama de vainilla, cáscara de limón y naranja.

Den Spinat waschen und trocken schleudern. Die dünn geschnittenen Räucherspeckscheiben mit etwas Olivenöl in der Pfanne sautieren bis der Speck glasig ist. Pinienkerne, Rosinen und Nüsse zufügen, alles leicht anbraten und mit Essig ablöschen. Die Soβe etwas einkochen lassen und über die Spinatblätter geben. Gut durchmischen, damit die Spinatblätter gut gewürzt werden, und auf einem lauwarmen Teller anrichten. Den in Würfel geschnittenen Blauschimmelkäse und das Röstbrot zugeben – fertig!

Wash and dry the spinach. Pour a little olive oil into a frying pan and sauté the finely-chopped bacon. When it starts to brown, add the pine nuts, walnuts and raisins. Sauté and add the vinegar. Reduce and add the spinach. Mix well so that the spinach is well coated with the dressing and use a mould to place on the dish, which should be warm. Add the diced cheese and the croutons and the salad is ready to be served.

Limpiamos y secamos las espinacas. En una sartén ponemos un poquito de aceite de oliva y salteamos el bacon cortado finito. Cuando empiece a dorar le añadimos piñones, pasas y nueces. Salteamos y agregamos el vinagre. Lo dejamos reducir y lo añadimos a las espinacas. Mezclamos bien para que las espinacas se aderecen bien y con ayuda de un molde montamos el plato, que debe estar tibio. Añadimos el queso cortado en daditos y los costrones de pan y ya está listo para servir.

Die Sahne mit der Hälfte der Milch, Zucker, Vanillestange sowie der abgeriebene Zitronen- und Orangenschale aufkochen. Eigelb mit der restlichen Milch vermengen. Sobald das Sahne-Milch-Gemisch aufgekocht ist, langsam unter ständigem Rühren zum Eigelb-Milch-Gemisch geben. Anschlieβend in Schüsseln füllen und im Ofen bei 90 Grad ca. 40 Minuten stocken lassen. Abkühlen lassen, mit braunem Zucker bestreuen und mit dem Bunsenbrenner karamelisieren. Mit einer Vanilleeiskugel anrichten.

Bring the cream to the boil with half the milk, the sug ar, the vanilla po d and the lemon and orange peel. Mix the egg yolks with the remaining milk separately. When the cream mixture boils, strain and mix with the yolks, s t i r r i n g a l l t h e t i m e . Po u r i n t o t h e moulds and bake at 90°for around 40 minutes. Leave to cool and sprinkle with brown sugar. Use a blow torch to cook the surface au gratin, and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Ponemos a hervir la nata con la mitad de la leche, el azúcar, la vainilla y la cascara de limón y naranja. Aparte pondremos las yemas con la leche restante y mezclaremos. Cuando hierva el preparado anterior la colaremos y mezclaremos con las yemas sin dejar de remover. Lo colocaremos en los recipientes y hornearemos a 90° durante unos 40 minutos. Dejamos enfriar y espolvoreamos con azúcar moreno. Con ayuda de un soplete g rat inaremos la superficie y lo acompañaremos con una bolita de helado de vainilla.

The restaurant Es Molí d’en Bou (Sa Coma) has flaunted its Michelin Star for ten years now. The cuisine of its chef, Tomeu Caldentey, is based on Mallorcan products designed to stimulate the senses of his diners with mixtures of flavours. Proof of this are dishes like the “Campari-orange sponge and vegetable ‘coca’ fingers with almonds”.

El restaurante Es Molí d’en Bou (Sa Coma) lleva diez años luciendo su Estrella Michelin.
