Maleny District Sport & Recreation Club Community Newsletter A Step Closer for Hydrotherapy in Maleny On Wednesday 9th February 2022, a Hydrotherapy Centre for Maleny took one step closer to becoming a reality when Maleny District Sport and Recreation Club signed an agreement to provide land on Maleny Sports Park to Maleny Hydrotherapy Inc. Under the curious eyes of equestrian friends, the Presidents of both organisations, Tim Bagshaw (left) and Mike Norman signed a document that provides MHI with a portion of the MDSRC leased land on which to build their centre. A spokesperson for the MHI said “It’s exciting news. It's been a long time coming and we are

working towards delivering a hydrotherapy pool for our community. Council approval will be sought, but in the meantime some serious fundraising will be done”. Mike Norman was enthusiastic in his comments "Sunshine Coast Council approved Maleny Sports Park on the Precinct as the future site for the centre at its Ordinary Meeting on 8 November 2018. with MHI who have worked for many long years towards delivering this project. This agreement is a step that enables MHI to raise the balance of funds needed to construct and operate their hydrotherapy facility." Both organisations recognise that this is an ambitious project, but acknowledge the huge bene ts that not just locals, but communities across the Sunshine Coast Hinterland will enjoy once this facility becomes operational. MP for Fisher Andrew Wallace congratulated all involved, saying "This has been a project long in the making and last week's progress is testament to the tenacity of so many in the local community over many years. Great work all!”.
