Free Family Fun Run – Sunday! The Zonta Club of Blackall Range is hosting a Family Fun Run this coming Sunday in recognition of domestic violence awareness month. The 5km fun run aims to bring community members together to raise awareness of family and domestic violence and promote the need for ongoing vigilance to improve prevention. “Domestic and family violence is unacceptable and it’s important we as a community keep highlighting the message that we need to work together to stop it,” fun run organiser Kiti Bruinsma
said. “It’s an important issue and everyone is welcome to attend the fun run to show their support in a friendly relaxed environment. “Bring your husbands and wives, partners, children, pet dogs on a leash, and get dressed in purple to add to the spectacle and strengthen the community’s message.” The fun run will be held at 7.30 am on Sunday, May 16, at Porters Lane, Maleny (meeting at the Maleny District Sport and Recreation Club headquarters on the Maleny Precinct).

The fun run follows the same 5km course as the Maleny Trail parkrun. Be there early to prepare and sign in! This is a free event and runners are encouraged to wear purple, which is the colour for domestic violence prevention. Zonta is thankful for the generous support of the Maleny District Sport and Recreation Club. For further information, phone organiser Kiti Bruinsma on 0499888943.
