Maleny District Sport & Recreation Club Community Newsletter Maleny Swap Meet Rides Again The Historical Motorcycle Club of Queensland Sunshine Coast branch will hold its annual Motorcycle Swap Meet at the Maleny Showgrounds this Saturday March 12th. The club has been holding this event every year since 1994, except last year which was cancelled due to Covid. Meaning you’ll nd more than a quarter-century of knowledge and expertise in machinery, parts and performance being shared and made available for sale. The gates open at 6am for sellers/vendors and at 7am for buyers and the general public. The swap will trade all day until 6pm. Each year, visitors come from all over the state, as well as interstate. HMCQ Secretary Keith Canning said “These visitors stay in the area, close to the Showgrounds so they can get an early start on the bargains or get a prize position to sell their goods. Businesses around Maleny and the wider Sunshine Coast bene t as these people all take time to eat, sleep and enjoy the area while they are here.” Items for sale are restricted to “motorcycle-related” but this provides a wide crosssection of goods such as complete motorcycles, engines, gearboxes, frames, tyres, parts, accessories, riding clothes, books, photographs and paintings, as well as trade and club displays. The swap boasts a food court suiting a wide variety of tastes, with the Maleny Lions Club the main provider, using this popular event as a major fundraiser to support the Lion's community programs. The Maleny Swap is the major HMCQ fundraising event. Not only does it fund the running of the club but money raised supports charities including the

Cancer Council Qld, Prostate Cancer and Bloomhill Cancer Care to name a few. The club takes this role very seriously and enjoys seeing their fundraising put to good use. HMCQ encourages the restoration and maintenance of historic, vintage and veteran motorcycles. Club activities include social rides, show-and-shines and exhibitions that the general public can enjoy while they reminisce over machines from their past. A club motorcycle must be 30 years old: that is, any bike manufactured up until 1986. Members have bikes ranging from 1912. When: Saturday 12th March – ONE DAY ONLY.
