Since our inception in 2005, The Highland Group, LLC has been dedicated to crafting a legacy of quality and professionalism in the construction industry. Originally founded by C. Scott Shamburger as Highland Wake Construction, LLC in Orange Beach, AL, the company initially served both commercial and residential clients all along the Gulf Coast. It was in 2008 that The Highland Group emerged as a family of brands, continuing to hold its licenses and contracts under Highland Wake Construction, LLC. As the profitability increased, our focus shifted towards larger commercial, institutional, and light industrial projects, allowing us to evolve from a local general contractor into a premier construction company. Our continuous growth journey led us to further expand our footprint in 2018, with the opening of full-service offices in Huntsville, AL, and Panama City Beach, FL.

The Essentials Of Safety Safety Planning & Monitoring

A site safety plan is the foundation for safety on a project. The safety team updates the site safety plan regularly as the project progresses to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of the plan.

The site safety plan includes: • A site-specific hazard assessment and abatement plan • A crisis management plan • Safety data sheets (SDS) • Site logistics, egress, and access plans • An evaluation of all components of the project to proactively identify and eliminate specific safety issues and hazards

Toolbox Safety Meetings A member of our project team will conduct an informal safety meeting that focuses on safety topics related to the specific job, such as workplace hazards and safe work practices. These tool box safety meetings are normally short in duration and are generally conducted at the job site prior to the commencement of work.

Camp Creek Inn & Resort Villages Watersound, FL Resort Hotel General Contractor

$40M expansion of the exclusive Camp Creek Golf Club in Watersound. The project featured a 5,000 sq ft golf training center with a pro-shop and TrackMan technology, a 75-room boutique inn / hotel, a state-of-the-art health center, a 6,500 sq ft pool with zero-entry, a slide, and a lazy river. A Kids Club with outdoor playground and multi-sport field was added, along with nine Har-Tru tennis courts, a pro shop, and extra courts for pickleball, bocce ball, and basketball. The project reached the vertical construction phase on the 30-acre site.

Breezyville Gulf Shores, AL Condominiums General Contractor

40,000 square foot, 4-story beachfront condominium complex. Architectural design features a comprehensive site work and a well-constructed pool area that enhances the overall appeal of the property. The structural foundation of the building is reinforced with concrete auger cast pilings, ensuring its durability and stability.

This property underscores a perfect blend of aesthetics and functionality, offering an exceptional living experience for potential residents.

Von Braun Center Propst Arena Huntsville, AL Multi-purpose Facility • Conference/ Performance General Contractor

Multifaceted project, renovating and expanding the nearly 50-year-old Von Braun Center (VBC) Propst Arena. The final project footprint spanned nearly 13,000 square feet, incorporating 4,800 square feet of new construction and 8,200 square feet of renovations. The construction schedule was meticulously planned around the ongoing event calendar of the arena. The firm's exceptional work on this project was recognized with the Associated Builders and Contractors (North Alabama) Excellence in Construction Award.

The Wharf

Orange Beach AL Multi-purpose • Resort • Golf Club General Contractor

The multi-use property at the Wharf is a testament to our comprehensive construction capabilities. As part of this partnership we have successfully completed a variety of general construction tasks, including the construction of a Tiki Bar and Fountain.

Additionally, we built a 7000 square foot Clubhouse for the Gulf Shores Golf Club that featured a Pro-shop, Men's & Women's Locker Rooms/Bathrooms, a Commercial Kitchen, a Dining Area, Golf Cart Storage, and a Pavilion. We also took on the construction of two on-course comfort stations/bathroom facilities. This project showcases our ability to manage and execute large-scale, multifaceted construction projects.

The Landing at Oyster Bay Gulf Shores, Alabama Condominiums Real Estate Development • General Contractor

Currently under construction. This impressive 5-acre development will consist of a 40 unit condominium community, promising a blend of luxury and comfort for prospective residents. Each residence within the community will span 1,800 square feet, comprising three bedrooms and two and a half baths, all finished to the highest standards.
