

Thefirsthalf-termof2025hascomeandgoneinaflash.For LoughboroughSchoolsFoundationasawhole,ithasbeena challengingstarttotheyearwiththeannouncementofthe proposedclosureofAmherstSchool.
Smallerschoolswerealwayslikelytobearthebruntofthe introductionofVATonschoolfees,aswehaveseenwitha numberofsimilarannouncementsacrossthecountry.
Iwouldstress,however,thatthebroaderfinancialposition fortheFoundationisextremelypositive.Welookforwardto continuedgrowthandsuccessoverthecomingyears, particularlyfortheGrammarSchoolwiththeimminent arrivalofMrJamesNevilleasitsnewHead.

A busy start to the year brings lots of opportunities for fun!

Fromthestartofnexthalf-term,MrJames NevillewillbeginhisnewroleasHeadof LoughboroughGrammarSchool.
MrNevillewillbringtoLoughborough GrammarSchoolawealthofexperienceas ahighlysuccessfulschoolleaderashe beganhiscareeratoneofWales’leading independentschools,StJohn’sCollegein Cardiff,whereherosethroughtheranks toAssistantHead(Academic)before becomingHeadofLoughboroughAmherst School.
“Iamhonouredtoleadthishistoricschool.Drawingonthebestoftraditionand innovation,Ilookforwardtoworkingtogetherwithstaff,pupilsandparentsto developanambitiousvisionfortheyearsahead.Thiswillfocusonprovidingafirstclasseducation,underpinnedbyahappy,aspirationalethosinwhicheverypupilcan thrive.”


Ourboardingpupilshavealreadybeenonanumber ofexcitingtripstokick-startthenewyear.
ThefirstofwhichwasatriptoLoughborough’slocal climbingcentre,TheClimbingStation.Boyslearnta rangeofnewclimbingtechniques,tackledtricky climbingcoursesanddevelopedtheirproblemsolvingandcoordinationskills,allwhilsthavingfun withtheirfriends.
Boardersalsoenjoyedanescaperoomchallengeas theyworkedcloselytogethertosolvethecluesand escapebeforetimeranout!


Thestartofanewyearisalsoakeytime forourYear13studentstostart preparingforlifebeyondLoughborough GrammarSchool.By20January2025, 336offershadbeenreceivedbyYear13 students.
Theconscientiousplanningand preparationofthestudentssubmitting applications,aswellasthesupportand guidancetheyhavereceivedfromour DirectorofFuturePathwaysandour highlyexperiencedSixthFormteam, hasresultedinoffersfromtopUK universities,including;ImperialCollege London,LoughboroughUniversity, UniversityofBath,Universityof WarwickandUniversityofBirmingham.


Year12Politicsstudentsfromacrossthe LoughboroughSchoolsFoundation embarkedonatriptoLondon.Stops includedbothHousesofParliament, WestminsterHall,thevotinglobbies,St Stephen’sChapel,DowningStreetand theSupremeCourt!
DirectlyrelevanttotheirstudyoftheUK GovernmentandPolitics,thejampackeditinerarywastheperfect complementtotheirALevelcourse.




LunarNewYearcelebrationstookplace inourwholeSchoolassemblywhichwas dedicatedtothefestival.
BoystoldthestoryofTheGreatRace throughvisualdisplayaspupilswhotook partrepresentedoneofthetwelve zodiacanimals.Withdecorations displayedaroundthehall,pupilslearnt aboutthesignificanceofthecelebration.
Pupilsalsohadtheopportunitytocome alongtoadumplingmakingsessionat lunchtime,heldinoneofourboarding houses-DentonHouse.Pupilsenjoyed makingthetraditionaldish(andthe taste-testafterwards!)
