Welcome Back to a New Academic Year!

At the beginning of the 2025-26 academic year, fresh thinking about our approach to photography and videography has been supplemented by the introduction of more varied visuals including illustrations and iconography. The launch of our new suite of websites last week has set a strong marker in this new phase of our visual identity, one which we look forward to continuing to explore and evolve in the months to come.

You can read more about our approach this year by visiting this link.

From outstanding A Level results to art exhibitions and adventures, our Boarders have enjoyed a great start to the term. We look forward to another fantastic year ahead for our boarding community.

Exceptional A Level Results

From accepting Oxbridge offers to embarking on exciting degree apprenticeships, the Loughborough Grammar School class of 2025 now look ahead to bright futures after receiving outstanding A Level results.

Following two years of hard work and dedication by our students, 45% of grades were at A* to A, with 30 boys achieving a clear sweep of AAA or above. A* -A results have risen by 1.3% across the East Midlands, significantly outperformed by a 12% rise at Loughborough Grammar School.

Amongst the Year 13 results, our Boarders achieved some standout grades. Terry achieved A* , A* , A* , A, AEA Maths Distinction and is going on to read Mechanical Engineering with professional placement at the University of Bath whilst Edmund achieved A* , A, A, A, EPQ A and is set to study Biochemistry at Imperial College London.

Our annual Art Exhibition took place at the start of term, showcasing the fantastic work of our GCSE and A Level pupils over the last year. From paintings to drawings, sculpture and mixed media pieces, the artwork was a fantastic display of creativity and skill.

Go Ape Adventures

On one of our first weekend trips of the year, Boarders enjoyed visiting Go Ape - a treetop experience designed to be a fun and unique challenge. As they tackled the course, Boarders enjoyed spending time with their friends and offering each other support and encouragement, all whilst taking in a fantastic treetop view.

Meals and Nutrition

Boarders have breakfast, lunch and dinner in the Burton Hall, prepared by our school chefs who are experienced in catering for a wide range of dietary requirements.

Options are vast for all three meals; breakfast ranges from continental to full English, avocado on toast and smoked salmon bagels; dinner options include traditional English dishes and a broad variety of cuisines from across the globe.

Chefs try to bring a slice of home to international students with ‘Boarders’ Choice Week’ which takes place three times a year, where they vote for their favourite meals.

New Music Scholars

Our new music scholars took to the Recital

Hall stage to celebrate being awarded their scholars’ badges this month. The audience watched solos from our new Year 7 musicians on piano, violin, trombone and cello. The two new Year 9 scholars featured vocal and marimba solos, whilst the two new Year 12s offered piano, voice and violin.

Our music scholars receive bespoke 1-1 support, unique performance opportunities and access to a wide range of professional coaches and additional training to ensure they reach their full music potential.

Music has always been a huge part of my life. I love how I can express myself in a way that words can’t
