WHAT YOU ARE HOLDING IN your hands right now is Loisto Magazine made by Loviisa Camera Club.

Loisto Magazine is an annual publication by Loviisa's Camera Club, the circulation being 3000. It's issue is published annually just before the holiday season begins. The magazine is printed in a high-quality printing house on a high-quality paper.

We are happy that you are interested in reading about the background of our club and magazine. This magazine is available in several locations where there are travelers, tourists and people interested in photography. Maybe you are one of these people! Our members occasionally also distribute the magazine abroad, even around the world. We hope that the message from Loviisa, a small Finnish town, is received everywhere. ABOUT THE CLUB: Loviisa Camera Club was founded and registered in 1972 and it belongs to the Association of Finnish Camera Clubs and thus also the Federation Internationale de l’Art Photographique (FIAP). The domicile of the club is in Loviisa in the Eastern Uusimaa region. In addition to Loviisa, the club also operates in Pyhtää and Lapinjärvi. Most of the members live in this area but there are also members from other towns and cities. During the

last few years the number of members has been between 70 and 80. The club arranges photography evenings every month and they are open to everyone. Participation does not require membership. Club members gather every Thursday at 6 p.m. The location of the club house is Chiewitzinkatu in Loviisa, and there are meeting rooms and studio equipment available. These member evenings are informal, and may include training, judging photos from other camera clubs, participation in contests, discussions, testing various styles of photography etc. In this same room also the traditional LOISTO Magazine is made. The club offers several benefits to the members: use of photography equipment, various lectures and courses, field trips etc. Loviisa Camera Club also has active interaction and co-operation with other camera clubs in Finland, not forgetting international co-operation. The members have been successful in both domestic and international contests and exhibitions. The Loisto magazine has been published for 33 years! This is a long time for a publication which is done without paid staff. How this is possible? Loisto does not pay for the published articles or pictures.
