President’s Report

A Message from President Jim

Brothers and Sisters,

The E-Board enjoyed visiting you in the field this summer! We love to hear about your accomplishments and are here to listen to any issues that you’d like to discuss. Our monthly meetings are also a great opportunity to connect with our team if you haven’t been able to connect with us out in the field. Typically held on the third Tuesday of the month at 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. at IBEW Local 103, 256 Freeport St #1, Dorchester, MA 02122. Check our website and social media for the latest updates.

We are excited to see progress with the assault bills in the House and the Senate. We just need that final push across the finish line to make these a reality! Learn about the bills and how you can get involved on page 4. Our members deserve to be safe on the job.

Our summer wrapped up with our annual golf tournament at Brookmeadow Country Club in Canton. We couldn’t have asked for better weather. Flip to page 9 to see photos from the day!

Stay safe and enjoy yourselves as we step into cooler weather. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to the E-Board if you have any questions or concerns.

In solidarity,

Assaults Stop Now

WE'RE NOT DONE YET!

We are thrilled to announce that bill H.1877, sponsored by Rep. McGonagle recently PASSED! The next step is to get Senate approval so that this bill can be signed into law and protect public transit workers officially.

Transit workers' safety is in jeopardy as violent attacks have escalated in recent years. Over 6,000 members of Carmen's Union Local 589 work hard to keep the city and state moving — and they deserve to be safe.

Countless members have been attacked on the job and it needs to STOP.

YOU can help by contacting your Senator and encouraging them to follow the example of the House and get bill S.2531 on the Governor's desk. Visit ActionNetwork.org/Letters/SupportTransit-Workers-Assault-Bills-2025 or scan the QR code below to take action. It only takes a few minutes!

Please contact your senators to support this crucial bill to protect transit workers: Together we can keep our Brothers and Sisters safe. ASSAULTS STOP NOW.

Family Day at Canobie Lake Park

Thank you to everyone who participated in Family Day at Canobie Lake Park! We had a great time seeing members and their families outside the work setting. Thankful for beautiful weather to make the day even better!

Annual Golf Tournament

Our annual golf tournament was once again a success! Thank you to all who joined us on the course and sponsored the event to support Local 589’s COPE (Committee on Political Education) fund.

Local 589 was recently recognized at the 61st International ATU Conference for having more members contributing to the fund than any other local. Congratulations and thank you!
