President’s Letter
Team,
Happy fourth quarter! I can’t believe how fast this year is flying by. September was a solid month: sales improved slightly over August, and we saw continued loan growth. Pawn service charges were down just a bit, which is normal month-tomonth fluctuation.
As we move into the holiday season, please keep focusing on holiday sales. With recent increases in gold and silver prices, selling those items may be more challenging, but we’re actively working to increase our gold inventory for the holidays to meet customer demand.
Please also keep up on Google reviews, positive reviews get us noticed online first. Continually use our callback system, maintain organized binders, and leverage any other channels you can think of to increase online awareness and drive sales (social media posts, local business listings, customer referrals, and in-store signage.
I’m looking forward for our Loyalty Pawn team attending the California Pawnbrokers Association conference and expo at the end of the month, hopefully we’ll return with valuable takeaways to help drive the business forward.
Thank you all for your hard work. God bless and let’s get ready for a strong fourth quarter.
Thank you,
Stan Lukowicz President Loyalty Pawn

Letter from the General Manager
Greetings Team,
As we wrap up the third quarter, there’s much to acknowledge and celebrate. Business momentum continues to build, and with fall just around the corner, we’re entering a season of opportunity and growth. We’re pleased to report that layaway activity has been strong across all locations, with balances steadily increasing. Notably, El Camino and Broadway led the way in September, each achieving their 5% sales goal for the month, excellent work!
While retail remains soft nationwide, we’ve managed to outperform the trend with a modest increase in activity. Comparing year-over-year performance, we’ve seen encouraging growth:
• Loan volume has increased by $1.1 million from September 2024 to September 2025.
• Purchases have risen, supported by the uptick in gold prices.
• Inventory remains stable at $1.6 million
• Retail sales for September 2025 reached $115,000+, showing a $325 increase over the same period last year. Looking ahead, October has historically followed a pattern of loan growth, and we anticipate a similar trend this year.
We also want to recognize our top performers for both the month and the quarter:
September Sales Leaders:
• ! # $ % Dominic T.
• ! & ' ( Josh B.
• ) + , - Norma B.
Quarterly Sales Leaders:
• ! # $ % Dominic T.
• ! & ' ( Norma B.
• ) + , - Josh B.
Dominic led the charge this quarter, with Norma and Josh close behind, great job to all three for setting a strong pace!
As always, we remain committed to fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. Our open-door policy is here to support you, if you have ideas, suggestions, or recommendations that could enhance our operations, tools, or team dynamics, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Javier or myself Some of our best innovations have come from thoughtful ideas that turned into actionable plans.
Thank you for your continued dedication and hard work. Let’s keep the momentum going!
Warm regards,
Wayne Silliman General Manager

Loyalty Pawn Family
Hello, Loyalty Family!
It’s a relief to finally feel some cooler weather, this heat was getting a bit overwhelming. I want to extend a big congratulations to Team El Camino for achieving their 5% goal and to Team Broadway for once again exceeding their 20% stretch goal. Fantastic job to both teams! I can’t believe we’re already in the last quarter of the year; time flies when we’re busy! Speaking of being busy, our loan balance has hit another record high, and we also broke a record last month with our buy balance, the highest it’s been all year. Great work on collecting more reviews! Remember, it’s just as important to ask our clients for a review as it is to close them on a layaway during our presentations. On that note, our layaway numbers are higher than they’ve been all year. I love how layaways contribute to our end-of-month goals when managed properly, so let’s keep up the fantastic work! Now, let’s address the elephant in the room: the unpredictable gold prices. We’ve been doing a great job staying ahead of this funky market, but let's remain vigilant with our inventory. Aged items can easily drop below spot prices, especially when discounts are involved, so let’s keep a close eye on that. This month, we’ll also get to know Tony, the store manager for our El Camino location! Here’s a fun fact to motivate you: Did you know that Halloween is one of the top retail holidays in the U.S.? In fact, consumers are expected to spend billions on costumes, decorations, and candy each year! Let’s harness that festive spirit and keep our momentum going! Keep up the great work, everyone!
1. If you could have any superpower for a day, what would it be and how would you use it at work?
If I had a superpower for a day, I’d choose lightning speed. That way I could help twice as many clients in half the time, make the lines disappear, and keep payroll low. Basically, I’d be the Flash of customer service minus the spandex suit!
2. What’s the most adventurous thing you've ever done, and would you do it again?
I once bought a one-way ticket to Europe with nothing but a 42L backpack and landed in Germany. Would I do it again? Absolutely though this time I’d pack more underwear. Lesson learned: adventure is great, but laundry isn’t always guaranteed.
3. If you were to host a dinner party, which three historical figures would you invite and why?
I’d invite King Arthur, John F. Kennedy, and Galileo. We’d crack open a bottle of scotch and dive into the true meaning of leadership. Arthur could give tips on managing knights, JFK could handle the politics and charm, and Galileo… well, he’d probably just tell us the Earth isn’t the center of the universe and blow everyone’s mind.
4. What’s your go-to karaoke song, and would you be willing to perform it in front of the team?
My go-to karaoke song is Friends in Low Places by good ole Garth Brooks. And yes, I’d perform it in front of the team though only after a glass of scotch.
5. If you could instantly become an expert in any field unrelated to your job, what would it be?
I’d instantly become an architectural engineer. As a kid, I loved those competitions where you had to build a bridge out of popsicle sticks and see how strong they were by placing small weights on top of them.
6. What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received, either personally or professionally?

The best compliment I get. People always say, I love your attitude and how funny you are! Basically, I’m like a walking combo of good vibes and standup comedy minus the two-drink minimum.
7. If you could travel back in time, what era would you visit and what would you want to experience?
I’d travel back to the 1950s, love the style, the classic cars, and I’d definitely want to catch an Elvis Presley concert. Mostly, I just want to rock a leather jacket, practice my best Elvis moves, and maybe finally figure out how people survived without Wi-Fi.
8. What’s a unique hobby or interest you have that most people don’t know about?
A unique hobby of mine is painting murals and graffiti more pop art with a twist I even used to doodle on Starbucks cups and leave them behind like tiny, masterpieces for strangers to find. I’ve even sharpie a whole car and won second place.
9. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
This one’s tough because I love trying new foods, but if I had to pick, it’d be Korean short ribs with a side of white rice.
10. What’s your favorite motivational quote, and how does it inspire you?
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts.” This quote reminds me that no matter how well or poorly things go, what really matters is keeping momentum and showing up every day. It motivates me to tackle challenges head-on and never get too comfortable or discouraged!
11. If you could swap jobs with anyone in the company for a day, who would it be and why?
Honestly, I really enjoy my role and the responsibilities I have, so I wouldn’t necessarily want to swap nor have the desire too.
12. What book or movie has had the biggest impact on your life, and how?
The book and movie that have had the biggest impact on my life is Shoe Dog by Phil Knight. His story about building Nike from the ground up really inspired me.
13. What’s one thing you wish you’d known when you first started your career?
One thing I wish I had known when I first started my career is the importance of developing strong management skills and a leadership mindset early on. Learning how to motivate, guide, and support others.
14. If you could create a new company tradition, what would it be?
Annual Team Olympics – Friendly competitions (games, trivia, or outdoor activities) that bring everyone in the company together. As well as yearly metals for the top achievers in sales, production & attendance.
15. What’s your idea of a perfect team-building activity? See answer 14.
16. How do you recharge after a long day at work?
I tend to keep things simple when recharging after a long day. I like to unwind by listening to a podcast, watching a movie, or spending quality time with my daughter. Sometimes we sit down with coloring books and just enjoy the moment together.
17. What’s one personal achievement you’re proud of that might surprise others?

The main one would be raising my daughter on my own starting when she was just two years old. I managed all the dayto-day responsibilities, from changing diapers to feeding her, while still maintaining my own balance and sanity. It taught me patience, and the ability to stay calm and focused under pressure skills that have carried over into every part of my life.
18. If you could design your ideal workspace, what would it look like?
My ideal workspace is actually very close to what I already have. It’s clean, organized, and thoughtfully arranged, with framed pictures that are meaningful to me.
19. How do you handle stress or high-pressure situations?
I tend to analyze the situation, consider options, and choose the best course of action.
20. What’s your favorite way to celebrate a job well done?
I believe celebrating achievements is very important and I celebrate these achievements with upscale dinners.
21. If you won a surprise vacation for a week, but you could only choose one of the following to bring with you: an extra week of paid time off, a bonus that adds to your salary, a benefits package that covers your dream healthcare, or a trophy recognizing your contributions at work, which would you choose and why?
I’d be truly grateful for the surprise vacation, but if I had to choose, I would go with the bonus that adds to my salary. In today’s economy, financial stability is so important, especially as a father of one. That bonus would not only help me support my family but also give me peace of mind, which ultimately allows me to stay focused and take on more responsibilities.
22. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever given to someone else?
“Never give up, even when things get tough.”
23. If you could make one change to the world, what would it be?
Access to Education for All – Ensuring everyone, regardless of background, has the opportunity to learn and grow.
24. What’s your secret talent that could come in handy at work?
I have a creative talent for art and thinking outside the box. I believe this skill comes in handy at work by helping me create engaging sales videos and display inventory in ways that capture attention and stand out. It allows me to bring fresh ideas to marketing and visual presentation, which can directly support sales and customer engagement.”
25. What’s a skill you believe everyone should learn, and why?
Effective communication and financial literacy are two essential skills in today’s business world. Being able to communicate clearly helps build strong relationships and work effectively with others, while understanding financial decisions ensures smart, informed choices. Together, these skills can help anyone succeed and thrive in any role of business.

El Camino
Loyalty Family,
It’s that time of year again sweater weather is creeping in, spirit stores are haunting every corner, and what’s truly terrifying… is this economy! But fear not, because while others may be scared, Team El Camino is slashing through the numbers like Jason Voorhees on a Friday the 13th.
Our loan balance has risen from the grave and now stands at a bone-chilling $2.1 million and it’s still growing! Just in jewelry alone, we’re holding 5,946 pieces worth $1,837,197, with an average loan of about $300. As for general merchandise, we’ve got 1,840 items worth $301,180, averaging $163 per loan. Talk about monstrously good numbers! Now, for October, our frightfully achievable sales goal is $74,724.27. Together, there’s no doubt we can conjure this up and hit it!
Also, a warm (and spooky) welcome to our newest teammate, Gideon Stelmack, who’s already proving to be a quick study and a valuable addition to our Loyalty Pawn family. We’re thrilled to have him join our haunted mansion of hard workers. And last but not least… in honor of our September victory, Team El Camino will be crawling out for a wicked celebration. You’ve all worked your magic, and your dedication is truly appreciated.
Let’s make October scary good because nothing can stop this team of monsters from smashing goals!

Hi Team Loyalty,
This month, we’re pushing hard toward our $89,000 sales goal, and the team is fully locked in on making it happen. We're hitting layaways aggressively, making sure every potential sale is captured and followed through. At the same time, we're getting back to the basics, focusing on strong customer service, consistent follow-up, and creating urgency. We're stepping up our energy, being more proactive on the floor, and working to draw in new clients through both outreach and in-store engagement. The mindset is simple: stay focused, stay hungry, and make every opportunity count

Hello Team,
First and foremost, thank you to my team for your continued hard work, focus, and commitment. Because of your efforts, we’ve successfully hit our 20% sales stretch goal, a major milestone worth celebrating! Just exciting, we’ve reached $1.4 million in loan balance. This achievement is a testament to the high level of service, support, and care we provide our customers every day. Let’s keep that momentum going! I am also excited to implement some of the strategies I observed at the focus group in Chicago. Some of them are minor but I am hoping they will help with our sales and teamwork.
Lastly, please join us in giving a warm welcome to Joseph, our newest team member. We’re excited to have him on board and look forward to the great work we have already seen from him.

Last month, we achieved a total of $72,000 in sales. As we approach the final quarter of the year, let’s focus on our goals and finish strongly. Together, we can continue to build on our success and make the most of the opportunities ahead. Let’s make this last quarter our best one yet!

Clear October Morning!
October glows on every cheek, October shines in every eye, While up the hill and down the dale Her crimson banners fly.
~
Elaine Goodale Eastman (1863–1953)
OCTOBER CALENDAR OF NATIONAL EVENTS
• October 1 starts Yom Kippur at sundown, a Jewish holiday that marks the beginning of the new year.
• October 9 is Leif Eriksson Day.
• October 13 is a busy day, with three more holidays packed into it:
• Columbus Day (U.S.), a federal holiday, is observed on the second Monday in October. It was on October 12, 1492, that Christopher Columbus landed on a small island in the Bahamas, convinced that he had reached Asia.
• Indigenous Peoples’ Day (U.S.) a holiday that celebrates the history and cultures of indigenous peoples native to what is today the United States. Indigenous Peoples’ Day is celebrated in cities and states across the country, often alongside or in lieu of Columbus Day.
• October 18 is St. Luke’s Little Summer. This is a date steeped in folklore. Traditionally, around Saint Luke’s feast day, there is a brief period of calm, dry weather.
• October 20 is Diwali, the Indian “Festival of Lights”
• October 24 is United Nations Day, which aims to bring awareness to the work of the United Nations worldwide.
• October 31 is Halloween (All Hallows’ Eve)! Do you know the true history of Halloween? It’s not as frightful as you might think. Learn about the origin of Halloween
The Full Harvest Moon
October’s full Moon, known as the Harvest Moon, arrives on Monday, October 6. The Harvest Moon is closely tied to the autumnal equinox.
October Meteor Showers

Also, keep an eye out for the Draconid meteor shower in the late evening of October 9, and the Orionid meteor shower in the predawn hours of October 21–22.
The Leaves They Are a-Changin’
With the autumnal equinox in late September, foliage season has officially begun across much of the United States. Check out our foliage map to see when different parts of the country typically reach their peak!
Why do leaves change colors? Did you know that fall’s vivid colors are actually hidden underneath summer’s green? The main reason for the color change is not autumn’s chilly weather, but light or rather, the lack of it. The green color of leaves disappears when photosynthesis (from sunlight) slows down, and the chlorophyll breaks down. Trees with a lot of direct sunlight will produce red leaves, while other trees may turn yellow, orange, or brown.

October Full Moon
October is a great time for stargazing.
The Full Hunter’s Moon October’s full Moon, known as the Hunter’s Moon, arrives on Thursday, October 17. Like September’s Harvest Moon, the Hunter’s Moon is closely tied to the autumnal equinox.

Halloween at Work: A Guide to Festive Fun and Friendly Frights By
Jen Peatross
! " % HR Spotlight: No Tricks, Just Teamwork
October is the season of costumes, candy, and spooky fun but in the pawn industry, we know that success doesn’t come from tricks. It comes from trust, teamwork, and taking care of one another. This month let’s look at how we can bring a little Halloween spirit into our workplace while keeping things professional and safe.
& ' ( ) * Beware of Compliance “Ghosts”
Just like a haunted house, non-compliance can sneak up and scare us if we’re not paying attention. To keep those “ghosts” away:
• Double-check customer IDs and documentation. Follow transaction protocols to the letter.
Stay current on regulatory requirements knowledge keeps the scary surprises away.
Don’t Get Tangled in the Web

Workplace gossip can spread faster than a spider web in the wind. It may seem harmless, but it can create confusion, hurt morale, and damage trust. Instead:
• Communicate directly and respectfully.
Ask questions when you’re unsure, rather than relying on rumors
Support each other teamwork is our best defense against sticky situations.
,. / 0 Hand Out Treats, Not Tricks
Halloween reminds us how good it feels to share treats. Recognition and appreciation are the “candy” of the workplace:
• A quick thank-you goes a long way.
Celebrate your coworkers’ wins, big or small.
Treat customers with patience and respect they’ll remember the experience long after October.
Final Thought
This Halloween season let’s keep the tricks for costumes and the treats for each other. By staying compliant, avoiding gossip, and spreading positivity, we can ensure our store is a place where employees and customers alike feel safe, respected, and valued.
2 3 4 5 Halloween Safety Checklist
8 Stay Visible – Shorter days mean darker evenings. Use well-lit areas when walking to and from your car. 8 Secure Cash & Valuables – Increased traffic during the season means staying extra mindful of cash handling and merchandise security.8 Watch the Masks – Some customers may wear costumes. Always follow ID verification procedures carefully. 8 Be Aware of “Tricks” – Crowds and distractions can create opportunities for theft. Keep an eye out and communicate with your team.8 Look Out for Each Other – Teamwork is the best protection. If something feels unsafe, alert a manager right away.
9 : ; < = Remember: The best Halloween treat is going home safe at the end of every shift.

Did you know?
Candy corn was originally called “chicken feed.” Now it is just called gross. Finding a spider on Halloween night is considered good luck, unless it's in your shoe. That's just scary. The first Jack-O'-Lanterns were carved from turnips because no one wants to eat turnips! Just sayin…
