I am on a journey.

Strengthening my faith through worship.

It’s been said that music feeds the soul, but I find it grows my faith as well. Before I start my day, I meditate on God’s grace, His Word, and His promises through songs that speak to my heart — and of His greatness. I love to worship the Lord through music. I know I can make a difference for His kingdom at any age and in many ways. LifeWay understands where I am on my journey of faith and is meeting my needs along the way. LifeWay Christian Stores is more than just a store. With more than 185 stores in 29 states, we invite you to visit a store near you today to see why.

C TOnighT’s TrOphY Last year, the epic K-LOVE Fan Awards trophy was unveiled. Graphic ar tist Barton Damer designed the unique typography that made up the original K-LOVE Fan Awards artwork. In keeping with the brand, K-LOVE wanted to create a trophy that played off of Damer’s 3-D lettering where the ‘K’ in K-LOVE was made up of keyboards, guitar parts and speaker boxes. The same trophy makers who have crafted GRAMMY® Awards in the past turned Damer’s renderings of the ‘K’ into a work of art. The trophy was originally supposed to be 8 inches wide at the base and weigh only 10 pounds. However, the final trophy ended up measuring 20 inches at the base and weighing over 30 pounds! Winners had a hard time lifting the trophy as they posed for their photos backstage! Never fear award winners, this year, the trophy has been modified to a smaller, more manageable size. Even at 8 inches and 10 pounds, it remains an epic accolade.

DEAR FANS: What a year this has been! God is so good. I am amazed and humbled at how God blesses K-LOVE. Tonight we recognize those who touch the world for Christ. It is our privilege at K-LOVE to link the Christian community to you, our listeners. We have the best listeners in the world who give of their prayers, time and resources to help us continue our calling at the K-LOVE Radio Network. This evening we eagerly wait to see who you, the fans, chose to

AD

celebrate. We nominated and you voted…might I say with 2 million votes...WOW! I can’t wait to see the results and see the impact that each of your votes will make with World Hope in the city of Detroit, Mich. 1 Corinthians 13 says, “Without love, I am nothing.” Our opportunity tonight inside the

historic Grand Ole Opry House is to celebrate with our friends at Pepsi, love our neighbors, and make a difference in the Detroit community. My wish for you is that you’ll be inspired, be encouraged and have fun!

MIKE NOVAK CEO/President, K-LOVE Radio Network

DEAR K-LOVE LISTENERS AND SUPPORTERS: One of the things we feel compelled to do at K-LOVE is to take the message of God’s love everywhere we can! The K-LOVE Fan Awards is one of the ways we are sharing that message! We believe that if someone listens to K-LOVE, through the music and experience God can change their life. We love what we do and are thankful for your partnership with us. The K-LOVE Fan Awards are the only fan-voted awards show in the Christian community. This year, we’ve seen a leap in growth in this great weekend. I want to express our appreciation and thanks to our friends at Pepsi, World Hope and the music, sports and media communities who join us every day in sharing the love of Jesus to a world in need. As we celebrate, we also recognize the impact of our partners and listeners. That is what makes this event so special—we let the fans decide. I want to offer my congratulations to all attendees and nominees who have impacted our world for Christ this past year. I also want to thank the fans, listeners and supporters of K-LOVE for making this evening so special. Sit back and relax… The show is about to begin!

DEAR K-LOVE FANS: I count it an honor to be able to work in an industry that glorifies God in all aspects of entertainment. I believe the inaugural year of the K-LOVE Fan Awards did just that! This year we are coming expecting and knowing that the best is yet to come. Having the opportunity to produce a one-of-a-kind event just for the fans, to build an experience that makes a mark and leaves everybody wanting a little more, that’s a true privilege. The dif ference between success and failure is a great team. K-LOVE, Pepsi and World Hope have embodied this, and myself, along with my staff

AD

at John Sanders LLC, are truly grateful for their partnership.

Tonight may we all go home encouraged and refreshed; and as I said last year, remember

that as fellow believers each day we have the privilege of dining with a Prophet, Priest, and King, the Lord Jesus. May you be blessed, lives be changed, nominees be recognized and Christ be honored.

JOHN SANDERS John Sanders LLC, Executive Producer

K-LOVE FAN AWARDS PARTICIPANTS:

It is an honor and a joy to share in this great event with you. Like you, I am a fan of all the incredible music and artists gathered here this weekend. I am encouraged by the artists who travel around the globe to share the Gospel. It requires sacrifice from these artists to leave all they know and trust in the Lord’s plan. I felt this sacrifice as a U.S. Marine and now as a husband and father. Today, when I travel for business I miss hearing my 10-year-old daughter, Hallie, belt out hits from Francesca Battistelli and Casting Crowns. I wish I could listen to my 9-year-old son, Harry, as he sings his latest favorites from Matthew West and for KING & COUNTRY. While I miss these moments, I am honored to support the ministry of K-LOVE and the positive songs and stories they share. I am also thankful for the work Pepsi MidAmerica has been able to accomplish! We’re excited to reveal our 2014 artists tonight and the free inspiring song downloads they’ll of fer on millions of Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Dr. Pepper and Mountain Dew cans. Thank you fans, artists and families for sharing this great adventure with us.

year’s awards show and 2014 Fan Awards Weekend. “The basis for the original and now the second Fan Awards is to create a channel between the fans and the music industry community, to create that conversation that’s going on there, and literally for the ministry of K-LOVe to set the stage and then step away and let the fans come together,” Novak remarked. Jamie Grace, Bart Millard (MercyMe), Britt Nicole, Michael Tait (Newsboys), Mike Donehey (Tenth Avenue North) and NASCAR’s Michael McDowell unveiled this year’s nominees and introduced two new categories—“Worship Song of the Year” and “Best Live Show.” Moreover, in a special category in partnership with presenting sponsor Pepsi MidAmerica, it was announced that for the first time fans would have the opportunity to vote on an artist to appear on a 7UP can. Anthem Lights performs the Song of the Year Mash-Up.

In addition, Michael W. Smith announced K-LOVE’s unique partnership with World Hope to aid the people of

TONIGHT’S HOSTS

candace cameron bure SHE’S BEST KNOWN AS “D.J. AND

THREE

CHILDREN.

SHE’S

C AN DACE

CAMERON BURE, AND SHE’S YOUR CO-HOST FOR TONIGHT’S K-LOVE FAN AWARDS.

K-LOVE: What makes you most excited about hosting this year’s K-LOVE Fan Awards? Candace: I love award shows that are all about the fans because as artists, that’s who we create our content for, whether it’s music, movies or books. K-LOVE: How has Christian music impacted your life? Candace: Top 40 Christian and worship music have changed my life. The words are real, true and uplifting. When I’m feeling down, they are words of comfort. When I’m happy, I sing my praises! The music and lyrics fill my soul and that, to me, is what music is all about. K-LOVE: Why did you decide to be a contestant on “Dancing With the Stars”? What was that experience like? Candace: I’ve been a fan of the show since its inception and have always wanted to be on it. It’s the hardest I’ve ever worked. It’s totally out of my comfort zone, and I’ve learned so much about myself in the process, not only as a dancer, but as an entertainer and as a woman.

30

K L O V E FA N A W A R D S . C O M

K-LOVE: How do you balance being a wife and mother alongside your career? Candace: It’s all about prioritizing for me, and I talk about that in my book Balancing It All. God and family are always first, and it becomes a juggling act after that. I realize I can’t do everything perfectly 100 percent of the time, and there are seasons in life for everything. Sometimes you have to let some things drop in order to balance what’s important at that moment, but I’ve learned that you can always pick them back up. K-LOVE: Is it challenging being a Christian in Hollywood? Candace: It certainly can be, but I’ve been outspoken about my faith for so long, I don’t even think about the difficulties much anymore. It’s just about finding the right fit for me and knowing my boundaries ahead of time. K-LOVE: If you could describe your co-host, Matthew West, in three words, what would they be? Candace: Sincere. Talented. Fun!

TONIGHT’S HOSTS

MATTHEW WEST HE’S AN ACCLAIMED SINGER-SONGWRITER WHO’S WRITTEN SONGS RECORDED BY RASCAL FLATTS, DIAMOND RIO, CASTING CROWNS, MANDISA AND MORE. HIS OWN SONGS HAVE LANDED HIM AT THE TOP OF THE CHARTS NUMEROUS TIMES, INCLUDING HIS MOST RECENT RECORD-BREAKING 17-WEEK RUN AT NO. 1 WITH “HELLO MY NAME IS.” HE’S MATTHEW WEST, AND HE’S YOUR CO-HOST FOR TONIGHT’S K-LOVE FAN AWARDS.

K-LOVE: What makes you most excited about hosting this year’s K-LOVE Fan Awards? Matthew: I’m probably most excited about the backstage catering. I heard it’s all-you-can-eat Chickfil-A nuggets back there. In my contract, I’ve requested a bathtub filled with Polynesian sauce. It’s party time. K-LOVE: What inspires you the most in your songwriting efforts? Matthew: A college fund for my daughters! Seriously, I’m inspired to use my voice as a songwriter to give others a voice. Each song on my last two records has been inspired by true stories. The inspiration for the song “Hello My Name Is” came from a K-LOVE listener named Jordan who heard that I was looking for stories while he was driving in his car and listening to K-LOVE! K-LOVE: Are you interested in doing any more acting after making your debut with Candace in The Heart of Christmas? Matthew: After my three lines in The Heart of Christmas, there was a lot of Oscar buz z surrounding my per formance. I even had an agent come af ter me promising to take me to the next level. He is the same agent that represented Screech from “Saved By The Bell,” so I knew he was the real deal. K-LOVE: What is your favorite part about being a Christian recording artist? Matthew: The Fame. Just kidding. It’s actually the private jet I get to ride to each show. OK, OK...kidding again. My favorite part of being a Christian recording artist is being given a front row seat to see God at work. To hear a person share with me how “Hello My Name Is” helped them realize they are no longer defined by their mistakes or how “Strong Enough” became someone’s anthem while they battled cancer—that is what it’s all about for me. K-LOVE: If you could describe your co-host, Candace Cameron Bure, in three words, what would they be? Matthew: Dancin’ D.J. Tanner!

WORSHIP SONG OF THE YEAR

“"God’s Great Dance Floor"” - chris tomlin When Chris Tomlin heard Martin Smith’s (former frontman of Delirious) version of “Back to the Start,” he says the spirited song felt “like an amazing party.” Tomlin asked if he could tweak the verses and eventually recorded the high-energy track on his chart-topping Billboard album Burning Lights, debuting the song to a massive response at the 2013 Passion conference. Tomlin admits the tune is a departure from his normally demure worship style, but he says he loved the metaphor of God’s grace as a dance floor. The song is a picture of the story of the prodigal son and the celebration that followed when the long-lost child returned home. @christomlin

““"I am"”- crowder “I Am” gave fans their first taste of David Crowder’s new self-described “folktronica” sound since the disbanding of the David Crowder Band and the beginning of his solo career under the moniker Crowder. Co-written with producer Ed Cash, the song is an affirmation of God’s constant and close presence in our lives. Just the week before, Cash had a group of Ugandan orphans staying in his basement recording music, and he couldn’t stop talking about the hope and rescue he saw in their eyes. That conversation helped inspire the first verse of “I Am.” The chorus reminds listeners that as tight as our grip might be on Christ, His grip on us is just as strong. Crowder remarks on this irony: “We find He’s actually holding us much more intensely than we could ever hope or dream.” @crowdermusic

“"Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)"

- hillsong united

To prepare for the recording of Zion, the members of Hillsong UNITED spent 10 days in Joel Houston’s New York apartment writing. The melody for what is now mega-hit “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)” was crafted during those early days of pre-production, but eventually got pushed to the back-burner. When the last day of tracking arrived, they had a beautifully textured music bed, but no substantial lyrics; although they knew what the song was about. That’s when the words began to flow, and the final version was written quickly. Houston says the cut is about “raw trust” and “stepping into the unknown.” Hillsong church member Taya Smith recorded the song in one take. The track recently became the band’s first career No. 1 radio single. @hillsongunited

WORSHIP SONG OF THE YEAR

“"Your Grace Finds Me"” - matT redman Redman’s “Your Grace Finds Me” paints a timeline everyone can relate to. “I was attempting to celebrate the grace of God that we find in all the different scenarios of our life,” the singer-songwriter shares. “I don’t think I’ve walked through a day when I haven’t known the grace of God.” From the birth of a newborn, to a wedding day, to a man taking his final breath and entering heaven, Redman reveals how grace doesn’t take sides and is ever-present in both joy and pain. He tells a universal story and beautifully highlights how God’s infinite grace is woven throughout every season. @matt_redman

““"You Won't Let Go"”- michael w. smith Michael W. Smith wrote “You Won’t Let Go” with acclaimed songwriters Seth Mosley and Mia Fieldes. The song is featured on Smith’s first worship recording since 2008, Sovereign, and serves as a reminder to rely on God’s promises. “The song reminds us that nothing can separate us from the love of God, no matter what comes our way,” Smith says. “We’ve heard it, and we know it; but we forget it. We forget it when we are in the not so good times—when we’ve lost a loved one or a job, and when we can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. We’ve all been there at some point in our lives. We just need little reminders of the truth.” @michaelwsmith

“"Never Once"

- one sonic society

Award-winning songwriter/producer Jason Ingram—the man behind hit recordings from Tenth Avenue North, Brandon Heath, Kari Jobe and more—co-wrote “Never Once” with Matt Redman. Both men were emerging from seasons of personal trials when they sat down to write together. Through conversation, they began to trace God’s hand at work in their individual circumstances. “When you turn around and look back on those seasons, you can see God’s grace and faithfulness,” Ingram offers. “The God who was faithful yesterday is going to be faithful with all of our tomorrows.” one sonic society is a songwriting worship collective comprised of three of Christian music’s best songwriters and musicians: Ingram, Paul Mabury and Stu G. @onesonicsociety

SONG OF THE YEAR

“"The Only Name (Yours Will Be)"”- Big Daddy Weave Big Daddy Weave was first introduced to songwriter Benji Cowart through “The Only Name (Yours Will Be).” (Lead singer Mike Weaver later co-wrote smash hit and last year’s K-LOVE Fan Awards Song of the Year, “Redeemed,” with Cowart.) The band had passed on a long line of songs for their album, Live Like That, but when they heard the line, “When I wake up in the land of glory…” they were hooked. “As children of God, we are living for the glory of someone else,” Weaver contends. The anthemic song boldly declares that our identity is completely wrapped up in Christ. @bdwmusic

““"Overcomer"”- MANDISA Since she was first introduced as a contender on “American Idol,” Mandisa has publicly struggled with her weight. The singer recently lost 100 pounds and with her slimmer figure came a newfound confidence. The title track of her latest album speaks to the battles we all fight. In addition to her personal struggles, Mandisa was inspired by the trials of friends and family—specifically one friend who was faced with cancer while pregnant. The official music video features the triumphant stories of overcomers Scott Hamilton, Gabby Giffords and Robin Roberts. The song earned a 2014 GRAMMY® for “Best Contemporary Christian Music Song.” @mandisaofficial

“"Lord, I Need You"

- matt maher

Matt Maher views songwriting as an act of worship. Along with friends Kristian Stanfill, Christy Nockels, Daniel Carson and Jesse Reeves, Maher was writing songs for the annual Passion conference when “Lord, I Need You” was birthed out of a co-writing session. Inspired by the old hymn, “Every Hour I Need Thee,” the song is an earnest confession of a sinner’s desperate need for God. Maher appreciates the song’s roots saying, “New songs come out of the legacy of old songs.” Singer-songwriter Audrey Assad lends her lovely vocals to the track. @mattmahermusic

SONG OF THE YEAR

e

“"Hello My Name Is"”- matthew west When Matthew West asked fans to submit personal stories to inspire his songwriting efforts, one of the letters he received began with these words: “Hello, my name is Jordan, and I’m a drug addict.” Following a sports injury, Jordan became addicted to painkillers, eventually got kicked out of college and at one point even attempted suicide. His parents admitted him to a treatment program, and that’s where Jordan met Christ. He now teaches and coaches at the college where he was once expelled. He ended his letter to West with the realization of his new identity: “I’m a child of the One True King.” West made history when the song spent a record-breaking 17 weeks at No. 1. @matthew_west

““"This Is Amazing Grace"”- phil wickham Phil Wickham wrote a rough version of “This Is Amazing Grace” with a friend—a former member of mainstream pop/punk outfit Paramore—years ago. The song was never finished, but the initial MP3 found its way to Redding, Calif. Bethel Church worship leader Jeremy Riddle called Wickham after hearing the song and asked if he could re-write the verses and record it. Having not thought about the song in years, Wickham readily agreed. Then, once he heard Riddle’s final version and the way he had transformed the original, Wickham knew he had to cut it for his next release. “It’s the story God has written that He’s let us all be a part of,” he explains. He recorded the song for his latest offering, The Ascension, and it garnered Wickham his first No. 1 radio hit. @philwickham

My Hope America with Billy Graham My Hope America with Billy Graham is more than a DVD series. It’s a nationwide effort instigated by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association to reach people with the Gospel. Following a simple biblical model, My Hope America combines the impact of video with the power of personal relationships, encouraging believers across the country to open their homes and invite neighbors, co-workers, family and friends to watch these impactful DVDs. In addition to a powerful message by Dr. Graham, each DVD in the series also includes inspiring testimonies from everyday people whose lives have been transformed by Christ. “I have found that when I present the simple message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with authority, quoting from the very Word of God,” Graham contends, “He takes that message and drives it supernaturally into the human heart.”

AD

FOR EVERY HALF MILLION VOTES CAST IN THIS YEAR’S K-LOVE FAN AWARDS, ONE NEEDY FAMILY IN DETROIT WAS GIVEN A BRAND-NEW HOME. THANKS TO THE MASSIVE TURNOUT OF MORE THAN 2 MILLION FANS, FOUR HOMES WERE BUILT. EVERY SINGLE VOTE.

Michael W. Smith announced this exciting opportunity to make every vote count at the K-LOVE Fan Awards press

conference earlier this year. “I’m not here to talk about

detroit fast facts

any nominees. I’m going to talk about somebody who’s

already won… And that is the city of Detroit,” Smith said, as he took the podium. “A lot of people are going to

win.” The award-winning singer was right, as thanks to the fans, four families greatly benefited.

K-LOVE continues to participate in ongoing rebuilding

efforts in the area, collaborating with World Hope through the K-LOVE Hope Center, a local facility in the heart of Detroit that provides spiritual development, community outreach and an after-school program, among other

initiatives. For more information on the city of Detroit and how you can get involved in the revitalization of the city,

visit www.revivalofdetroit.com.

Detroit is the home of the automobile industry and the famous Motown Records.

For the fifth year in a row, Forbes magazine named Detroit the most dangerous city in the country. More than 10,000 families each year are becoming homeless. More than 130 schools have closed in the past seven years. 40 percent of students don’t graduate from high school. The murder rate is 10 times the national average.

“Detroit is a great city. I’ve played there many, many times over my career. I believe by the grace of God, and by your faithfulness, we will see a revival of Detroit. Thank you for participating.” — Michael W. Smith

70 percent of the homicides go unresolved. Parts of the city resemble a war zone. It’s estimated that over one-half of the city’s 88,000 street lights are broken, making it more difficult to keep people safe. The city filed for bankruptcy in 2013, with an estimated debt of $18-$20 billion.

INSPIRED BY THE HIT MOVIE MOMS’ NIGHT OUT

It’s One Night Out, What Could Go Wrong??!! Inspired by the Moms’ Night Out film, Tricia Goyer’s novelization of the hilarious family comedy is a celebration of real family life—where everything can go wrong and still turn out all right. Chronicling one night out gone awry, three harried moms, their husbands, a sister-in-law with a misplaced baby, a tattoo parlor owner, a motorcycle gang, and a bewildered cabbie all learn to embrace the beautiful mess called parenting.

The Moms’ Night Out novelization is available now everywhere books are sold.
