Tracking dots and such as Apple Airtags are becoming a tool of choice to track and steal property.
Michael Moore CEO, M3 Networks
On a recent ride-along with my brother, a local police officer, we discussed novel ways tech-savvy criminals exploit technology. A new trend is perpetrators misusing tracking devices, like Apple AirTags, to track and steal.
Here are some quick tips that should help you avoid becoming a victim of tracker dot abuse:
Secure Your Ride – Regularly inspect your vehicle, even underneath, to detect hidden trackers like AirTags or Tiles.
Check Your Phone – Utilize the Apple FindMy app to scan for suspicious devices. Stay vigilant and heed alerts promptly.
Be Aware – Stay alert to your surroundings and remain attuned to both your environment and smartphone notifications.
Your safety matters, and at M3 Networks, we're dedicated to safeguarding your digital life.

THE simple SCOOP
The pureness of Marty B’s Ice Cream recipe is just as sweet as owner Marty Bryan’s desire to create a space for family and friends to come together and celebrate life over a hand-dipped waffle cone.
With the exception of a few of their allergen-friendly ice creams being outsourced for customer safety, all the ice cream is made in-house using only 4 clean and simple ingredients: eggs, milk, cream and sugar. The ice cream contains no high fructose corn syrup or synthetic ingredients, unlike most ice cream brands that use large amounts of synthetic bonding ingredients like xantham gum to keep the ice cream from melting quickly. Meanwhile, Marty B’s Ice Cream tastes better and is better for you, you just have to lick a little faster.
Even the incredible hand-crafted flavors come from right down the street, like the Ooey Gooey from Marty B’s, the Bourbon Peach Cobbler from 1845 Taste Texas and the Blueberry Pecan Bar from his coffee shop.
But the passion behind this ice cream shop is even more vibrant than its flavors. Marty says, “My goal was to create an amazing and authentic ice cream.” And Marty, alongside his daughter McKaley, who was vital in bringing this sweet business to life, is sure to hear from many customers a resounding “mission accomplished” after only one scoop.

REBECCA NEWBERRY SHARES HER LOVE FOR READING THAT INSPIRED BOODLEBUG BOOKS
Rebecca and Her Little Bugs
ARTICLE BY MALLORY NEWELL | PHOTOGRAPHY BY PIXEL PERFECT ROSE
“My mom loved Beatrix Potter and I remember reading a lot of those books,” Rebecca reminisces in her soft and charming English accent. “Growing up we used to go on holiday to the Lake District where Beatrix Potter got all her inspiration for all the characters. Whenever we’d go there for Easter breaks as a family we’d always go to the Beatrix Potter Museum, it was always such a fun day out.”
The playroom that Rebecca has created for her children (or “bugs” she calls them) is a paradise for little literature lovers. A stuffed Paddington, Jemima Puddle-duck, Winnie-the-Pooh and Peter Rabbit sit quietly on their shelf surrounded by various shelves, carts, baskets, and cubby holes stuffed with colorful books against the walls. Four magnet boards above are laden with souvenir magnets boasting destinations like Argentina, Iceland, Hawaii and Africa.
At the age of 20, Rebecca Newberry left her small England village and boarded a cruise ship as a retail worker to see the world. After meeting her husband Buzz, the two traveled the world for three years, got married, and landed in DFW.
While Rebecca’s son Jasper was born when she was working a corporate job in Dallas, the birth of her daughter Poppy coincided with the beginning of the pandemic in 2020 and Rebecca became a fulltime stay-at-home “mum”.
As boredom threatened to overtake us all during the pandemic, for Rebecca and her kids, reading books quickly became their most common pastime. This soon inspired more activities such as sensory play and themed crafts as Rebecca worked creatively to both entertain and begin homeschooling her oldest son, “Our love for reading just grew from there… and was part of our daily routine.”
CONTINUED >
Already a fan of book influencers (or “bookstagrammers”) on Instagram, Rebecca decided to give it a shot herself in April of 2022. She began her page @boodlebugbooks, naming it after her own childhood nickname “boodlebug”, and her children, “my little bugs”. She started by sharing many of her own favorite British childhood classics that no one knew of in the US. As her page grew, publishing houses began reaching out and offering to send her books in exchange for a review.
Today, Rebecca’s page boasts 6.5k followers and shares book recommendations and reviews, her life as a native Brit and mom of two, tips and advice for reading with your kids and a love for literature and imagination that seeps out of every corner of her persona. “I’m just helping people find ways to get children involved,” she says.
“A huge part of reading is educating and exposing your children to different cultures and environments. One of the things we’re doing this summer with my kids is ‘Where in the world are we eating tonight?’”
With her background in traveling, the importance of new ideas is vital to Rebecca, like using books such as “Peppa Goes on Holiday” to learn about Italian culture, or “Laolao’s Dumplings” to introduce Asian cuisine.
The joy of reading comes from the connections it makes, Rebecca explains passionately. It’s about kids learning to connect with stories, ideas and words, growing their vocabulary, stretching their imagination, learning about life and different scenarios and developing the ability to think outside the box. But more than that, “the base of it is having that beautiful connection with my children, getting in bed with them at the end of the day, snuggling down and reading to them.” Even if it’s just 20 minutes a
day, it’s 20 minutes of them learning, growing, and spending quality time that you can all look forward to.
From her childhood in England, Rebecca remembers bedtime reading being a big part of her childhood. “But I think my love for reading came when I was older. It grew even more when I had children. I saw the need for it to be part of our lives with all the screen time and everything that children get nowadays. It was so important to me for my children to have a love for reading from an early age,” she says thoughtfully. Rebecca’s ability to pass on her love for reading to both her children and her audience is done with a grace and joy that matches the whimsy and beauty of the books she reads to her children so often.

MORE THAN HEALTHCARE
How local Rapid Meds serve families through their back-to-school services
As summer winds down and a new school year quickly approaches, now is the time to schedule your children and teenagers for their vaccinations, health screenings and physicals.
Argyle and Highland Village Rapid Meds are here to help. Co-owned by Drs. Eric Zahorecz and Sean Fleming, Rapid Med houses a team of specialized ER physicians, physician’s assistants and nurse practitioners who are ready to serve you.
These local Rapid Meds offer both UIL and TAPPS sports physicals for only $30. During these physicals, individuals have their heart and lungs listened to, sight checked and heart examined for any potential undiagnosed heart conditions. These physicals ensure the teenager is growing properly and is ready to compete in sports. Both locations also carry most vaccinations needed for back-to-school at various ages such as meningitis.
These Rapid Meds are unique in that they provide a wide variety of services such as x-ray services for sports injuries and a concussion specialist at their Highland Village location.
“We do things that most urgent cares don’t,” Chief Nursing Officer and Registered Nurse Hayley Zahorecz said. “We’re more like a specialty urgent care. We can keep a lot of people out of the ER. We can do IV fluids [and] IV antibiotics. We can do in-house bloodwork and get some of those basic labs right off the bat.”
Many individuals have also greatly benefited from their rehydration fluids and wellness services.
“One of the things I’m hearing from neighbors and friends, especially for their high school kids that are in sports and college kids, is that they’re loving the rapid wellness fluids,” Zahorecz said. “Especially right before tournaments, if they’ve been doing a lot of playoffs or are dehydrated, or they’re just not feeling great. They’ll come in and do our rapid wellness fluids just to get an extra boost of vitamins and hydration.”
In addition to providing quality healthcare, Rapid Med is focused on making a difference and building strong relationships in the community. In past summers, they have held UIL sports physical events and offered free physicals for students. The first summer they provided 100 free UIL/TAPPS physicals, while this year their team gave out 300 vouchers for free physicals throughout the month of July.
“Myself and the manager here at the Argyle clinic, we [both] came from being ER nurses, and a lot of times you lose that personal touch when you work in a hospital or big corporate world,” Chief Operating Officer and Registered Nurse Christy Hardcastle
said. “I think here we are able to do that with our patients. We know our patients by name, they see us frequently and come back all the time. Just having the same people here, seeing the same faces, having those relationships… that gives it that personal family touch when you come into our clinics.”
The owners have a passion for serving and training their kids to do the same, which is evident through their strong family values and the atmosphere at the clinics.
“My thirteen-year-old loves to come in,” Zahorecz said. “She’s actually doing health science next year in eighth grade here at Argyle Middle School, and she wants to be a doctor and take over the clinics one day she says.”
Rapid Med provides quality service for the whole family. Visit their Argyle or Highland Village website to schedule your next appointment, or give their office a call. Rapid Med also takes walk-ins that they schedule in when possible throughout the day.

From the Brilliant Minds of Educators
WHAT THESE PROFESSIONALS NEED PARENTS TO KNOW BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS
ARTICLE BY AMY YOUNG
PHOTOGRAPHY BY PIXEL PERFECT ROSE
Backpack? Check. Lunchbox? Check. Crayons and pencils? Check, check. Add in a day of shopping for the perfect first-day outfit and the back-to-school checklist is complete. Or is it? The sharpest pencils and the fastest shoes on the playground are important, but what do the teachers need parents to know most before school begins?
After 31 years as an educator, I can tell you we spend countless hours training, planning, decorating and resting over the summer so we can be ready to teach and love your children. I asked several of my former colleagues and friends from early childhood, elementary, secondary and administration the question “What do you want parents to know before school starts?” My intention was to look for a common thread and I found one indeed.
The thread begins with the journey young minds take in early childhood education, birth through age 5. Dr. Shelley Connell of Primrose School of NE Flower Mound and Primrose School of Old Orchard shares that the ages of 0 to 5 are the years when a child’s brain has the most “plasticity”, meaning that the flexibility to learn and grow in different situations is at its greatest. This includes the ability to learn and grow in their independence over time, with strong support. Our friends at Primrose express the dichotomous realization that creating a place of safety for children to “fail fast” often sets them up to “learn fast”, too.
The elementary angels on Earth want you to allow children to pack their own backpacks, tie their own shoes and zip their own jackets. This may seem simple, but not when you are five years old. Think of all the time you will save during the morning rush when you remove these from your to-do list and all the
confidence your child will feel when they accomplish these tasks on their own.
The secondary rock stars need you to know that no news is good news. With hundreds of students coming through their doors each day, communication with each parent can be difficult. Be reminded that hearing nothing means your child is amazing. Remind your student to track grades along with you and stay on top of progress.
The administrative bucket fillers share that learning to successfully struggle as a child builds the capacity to adult. Life lessons are the backbone of development and rescuing might actually create an inability to solve issues as an adult later on. Trust the process! Teachers are amazing at teaching life lessons in a safe and supportive manner.
Does self-empowerment seem interwoven in these thoughts? Allowing children to be accountable for supplies, grades, behavior and decisions may seem difficult for you and them, but the result is a confident student. Children need the opportunity to experience safe struggles which in turn promote problem-solving and independence. The Primrose School principle “We believe who children become is just as important as what they know”, is at the forefront of the educational journey.
My hope is for your child’s year to be filled with not just academic learning, but life lessons that extend beyond the bricks of a school building. As the school year kicks off, Primrose School of Old Orchard and Primrose School of NE Flower Mound will be celebrating 25 years of early education and care in the coming months. We celebrate the collective love and care from our teachers, parents, and administrators that goes into helping our kids grow! Happy 2024-2025!
“Children need the opportunity to experience safe struggles which in turn promote problem-solving and independence.”

CAPTURING THEIR LIKENESS

LOCAL ARTIST EMILY HOLDER PUTS MEMORIES ON CANVAS
It’s said that a picture says a thousand words, but in the eyes of Emily Holder, a painting says more. Though you can scroll through your phone and reminisce on memories of your child’s first sports game or pet’s first trip to the vet in your photo library, there’s something special about an artist adding depth with their rendition of those same images. This is exactly what Holder does to her portraits and other creations, “even a single brush stroke can create movement and action.”
During the height of the pandemic, rather than sitting inside and watching the latest limited series on Netflix like most of us, Holder decided to spend her time with more purpose. Devastated but inspired by Covid-19, she chose to create portraits of the lives lost with her talent. Gifting an image that captured the nature of loved ones sparked a passion that has
continued in the following years and led her to provide art lessons for kids and adults as well as bringing images of friends, family, and pets to life on canvas for commission.
Though currently finishing an art residency in New York, Holder’s talents will return home in the fall along with her new ideas and skills. While she’ll be busy illustrating books for commission, she will continue spreading her passion and joy of art to others with lessons and furthering her latest endeavor; a workshop to teach others to paint their pets. Her bubbly personality and natural creative gift are the perfect blend to invoke excitement for the arts in all ages. Pets Need Pampering, Too!
Murphy goes to the FM Pet Bar for a spa day
ARTICLE BY AMY YOUNG
Take a seat. Breathe in and out slowly. Do you hear that? It’s the peace and quiet of a house whose children have gone back to school. Now you have time to pamper yourself after a fun, crazy summer running with the kids. You’ve earned this. And so has your dog.
After hours of being chased, enduring road trips and joining in on sprinkler time, your faithful friend needs some tub time and not just any tub will do. A large, deep tub with scrub brushes -ahhhhh- and warm water. A blow drying room that fluffs fur just the right amount because too much fluff would be such an embarrassment around the neighborhood. And the whole experience is completed with a light spritz of scent that allows for more time spent on furniture and in beds.
As a customer of the Pet Bar in Flower Mound, my border collie Murphy gives this spa day a two-paws up! In his words, which I will translate, he says “The Pet Bar has a tub that I can fit in. There is a hose with warm water that also dispenses tearless shampoo - such a thoughtful touch. In the drying room I get a headband so the air does not tickle my ears. This is so much better than the hose on the back porch!”
The Pet Bar in Flower Mound also offers grooming and full-service washing if you and your pet have not yet made that sudsy connection. The pampering begins with a helpful and courteous staff ready to beautify your pet after such a busy summer.
