Ladies… Imagine having lived 100 years ago. Perhaps a handful of our readers were children when the 19th Amendment gave women the right to vote in 1920. Things have moved pretty fast since then.
Today, we can vote for who we think will make our corner of the world a better place. We can wear what we like. We can go to college, if that’s important to us. We can marry for love or choose to remain single. We can build a career, choose to raise children, both or neither.
In other words, we have countless options today that our ancestors didn’t. We can do anything. So, let’s do everything.
We have lots of great suggestions in this month’s issue of Colorado Springs Lifestyle Magazine on how to squeeze the most out of life each day.
Get the details on a one-stop wellness shop that offers medical, spa and fitness services. Read about a high-end consignment shop that will keep you coming back for more. A garden center with 50-year-old roots. And a local shop that sells fresh pickled peppers. (Say that three times fast!)
Want the scoop on a mountain town that's synonymous with the word "art" and a neighborhood school that has found a new life as a community marketplace? Like street fairs? The state’s largest is coming to the Pikes Peak region later this month. And one of Colorado's most beloved waterfalls is turning 140 this year -- read on for info about the celebration.
Don't forget to check out our Events and Local Experiences. We are here to help you make the most out of your May. Enjoy!

STRATA WELLNESS AT GARDEN OF THE GODS RESORT AND CLUB: INTEGRATED MED, SPA + FITNESS
Wellness.
An age-old concept that has gained modern traction. The idea that nothing in the body functions independently – that everything is interconnected. If one thing is out of balance, the whole body is out of balance.
Imagine a place that looked at the whole body from the inside out to help you feel your best, look your best and function at your peak. Strata Integrated Wellness Spa at the Garden of the Gods Resort and Club is that place – and it’s open to the public.
“The vision has been about 10 years in the making,” said Strata’s Medical Director, Dr. Michael J. Barber, a cardiologist and internist with 40 years’ clinical experience.
When clients walk into this integrated med, spa and fitness facility, they have dozens of experts working together to help them solve issues and become stronger – physically and mentally. Services are available through various memberships, as well as on an à la carte basis.
STRATA MED
This is no ordinary medical office. Although this wing of Strata houses doctors and nurses, it also boasts naturopaths, chiropractors, acupuncturists, wellness experts and more.
“We’re looking at the person as a whole person,” Barber said.
Medicine, he said, is sometimes like painting rotten wood – it’s simply covering up what’s underneath. At Strata, they remove any rotten wood before rebuilding and repainting.

Naturopathic Dr. Jennifer Habashy frequently is one of the first stops for patients. She and her team try to get to the root of each patient’s issues. They might suggest changes in nutrition and fitness, herbs and tinctures for various ailments, mindfulness, meditation, acupuncture or perhaps even DNA analysis.
It’s all part of the bigger picture.
“Times are changing,” Habashy said of the revival of naturopathic medicine, which far predated today’s Western medicine.
If the team ultimately decides pharmaceuticals would be helpful for a particular patient, doctors can prescribe those. But Strata generally takes a stairstep approach.
A “lifestyle intake,” for instance, helps determine a patient’s holistic history, said Kelly Stoinski, wellness coach/ coordinator. That may be followed by labs and other assessments before the providers sit down and make a plan.
“I think wellness indicates more harmony at the core,” Stoinski said. “I think we’re all tired of the band aid.” Asked what advice she would give to the general population regarding wellness, Stoinski thought for a moment. “I think it’s just slowing down and taking the time to breathe.”
STRATA SPA
Not all spas are created equal and the 10,000-square-foot Strata Spa prides itself on an “elevated experience,” said Spa Manager Lacey Lockhart.
The gorgeous, up-close views of the Rockies. The talented employees. The storied history of the property.
Guests are greeted by light-andairy whites and marbles, as well as the concierge team. Among the more unusual offerings here are a spacious couples’ suite with private restroom and shower, a Haslauer Pure Sense Soft Pack Bed for dry floatation, and a pink Himalayan salt-inhalation room (halotherapy) believed to offer respiratory benefits – especially in dry climates like Colorado’s, Lockhart said.
“We’re unique in all that we offer for all of our guests,” Lockhart said. “We’re looking at mind, body and spirit. … You could really make an entire day out of one service.”
Guests have access to relaxation lounges, manicures, pedicures and hair stations, as well as individual and couples’ spa rooms for treatments such as the Desert ‘Fire’ Journey and the Ayurvedic Immersion Ritual.

“Imagine a place that looked at the whole body from the inside out to help you feel your best, look your best and function at your peak.”
“It really is pretty special when can all get together and talk to that member,” Rahman said. “’Here’s where you were. Here’s where you are.’ … The collaboration is a big, big deal.”
Michael Garrow, vice president of sales for the Garden of the Gods Resort and Club, summed up the mission of Strata as this: “We’re going to meet you where you want to be on your wellness journey.”
STRATA FIT
High ceilings and floor-toceiling windows lend this fitness facility an air of strength and beauty – a place where anything is possible.
“Your journey can start here,” said Shahid Rahman, fitness manager.
Whether you’re looking for personal training, sports-specific exercise, recovery from an injury, weight loss or something else, Strata Fit can help. Among the most popular classes is Essentrics, a workout designed to consciously activate all 650 muscles in the body in an hour.
They also offer spin classes on the terrace, weights, Pilates, Matrix equipment, hikes and bike rides through Garden of the Gods, golf and tennis fitness clinics and more. Each fitness plan is highly personalized.
For some, that’s as simple as a glass of wine on the terrace, taking time to relax. For others, it’s kale salads and strenuous workouts. “Wherever you want to be on your journey, we’re here for you,” Garrow said.

Planting Spring Flowers
Helpful tips for planting spring flowers
Sun-Loving Plants:
Spring is here! We compiled a list of flowers that - depending on your planting zone - can be planted in the season.
Plumbago
Has beautiful dark blue or white flowers on a large shrub of 3 to 5 feet. This tends to freeze down in winter and comes back from roots in the spring.
Hibiscus
The tropical variety will not survive the winters so move those pots inside. The plant can get up to 5 feet tall and there are many different colors and varieties. The perennial varieties will freeze to the ground but come back in the spring. The variety Moy Grande is known as the dinner plate hibiscus. The Texas star hibiscus has beautiful flowers in red or white.
Bougainvillea
These colorful plants can be planted in baskets and pots, not in water-logged or low areas where water might collect. They will grow best when given enough space to spread out, and should be planted in an area that will allow them a minimum of 5-6 hours of sunlight every day. Colors include orange, pink, purple, white, red, tangerine and fuschia to name a few.
Purslane
This is great in baskets for trailing leaves with lots of colors. The bees love it!
Butterfly Weed
This 3 to 4-foot bush is a must for monarch lovers. Monarchs feed on the leaves before making their cocoons. It has beautiful orange and yellow flowers.
CURB APPEAL | HOME + DESIGN 18
Lantana
This is a great hot weather plant that comes in many colors and varieties. Trailing varieties only get about 1 foot tall but can get 3 to 4 feet wide. There are bush varieties that get 4 feet tall and dwarf bushes only get about 2 feet tall. It comes in yellows, purples, reds, oranges, pinks, fuschia, and many others.
Greggs Blue Mist
This fuzzy light blue flower is a butterfly favorite.
Pentas
This is another bee and butterfly favorite that grows about 10 to 12 inches tall. There is a graffiti variety in different colors that works in beds or pots.
Vinca/Periwinkle
This plant comes in upright or trailing varieties. There are many colors to choose from: lavender, white with a red center, peach, white and red pink to strawberry.
Sages
There are many varieties of sage. The Texas sage is a shrub that has beautiful lavender flowers - a favorite for bees. They usually bloom around the time it rains. Henry Duelberg variety is a smaller bush 18 to 20 inches tall with blue stalks of blooms. Russian Sage is a tall silver lacey foliage with light blue flower spikes and grows to 4 feet tall. Deer tend to stay away from most of the sages.

Shade-Loving Plants:
Turk’s Cap
This plant makes a large bush of red or pink flowers. It has low water needs once established and can tolerate drought conditions and hot temperatures. Prune back plant in winter if it gets too leggy.
Impatiens
These need more water than most other plants and come in many colors. They are valued for their vibrant colors, abundant blooms, and tolerance for shade.
Caladiums
With lush multicolored leaves, many larger than the palm of your hand, caladiums have become one of the most popular foliage plants for shady or semi-shady gardens—with many recent introductions being sun tolerant.

Green Box Art: No Longer Green Mountain Falls’ Best-Kept Secret
ARTICLE BY SYDNEY SCHARDT PHOTOGRAPHY BY GREEN MOUNTAIN FALLS / GREEN BOX ART
As a Colorado Springs resident, there’s a chance you’ve ventured west on Highway 24, seeking fresh powder in one of our beloved ski towns.
As you meander past quirky Manitou and swerve through Ute Pass, you may have noticed a sign on the side of the road just 10 miles outside of town reading: Green Mountain Falls. And before now, you may have just thought of it as nothing more than another quaint little Colorado mountain town.
BUT... GUESS WHAT?
This little town is home to a thriving, year-round arts organization that promotes and fosters space for multi and interdisciplinary performing and visual arts. It’s a treasured haven for renowned national and international artists and it has housed some of the most distinguished dance companies in the world.

“Green Box Arts is an immersive art experience existing at the intersection of art and nature,” explains Executive Director Scott RC Levy.
Founded by Christian Kirkpatrick Keesee, a businessman, philanthropist, and longtime Green Mountain Falls summer visitor, and Larry Keigwin, founder of New York Dance Company Keigwan + Company, Green Box Arts began as an idea for a summer retreat in a fresh and beautiful mountain town. It has evolved
into a thriving, year-round arts organization. Speckled throughout the town are art installations, performance spaces, studios, and dedicated housing for artists who come from all over the world to nurture their creative processes and explore new artistic directions – all inspired by the beauty and solace of Green Mountain Falls.

ANNUAL ARTS FESTIVAL + MORE
For a long time, Green Box Arts was the mountain town’s best-kept secret. It’s now nationally renowned and continues to bloom with art, thanks in part to the Green Box Arts Annual Arts Festival. Officially launched in 2009, the multi-week festival has become a summer staple – a multi-disciplinary cornucopia of arts performances, exhibitions, classes, camps and celebrations honoring art.
Green Mountain Falls is also home to iconic light artist James Turrell’s Skyspace. Built into the side of a mountain, Skyspace is an atrium that was designed to allow you to undergo an immersive sky experience. At sunrise and sunset, you can be enveloped in a kinetic experience as a sequence of light that affects your optical nerves changes the colors of the room around you.
In addition to its art exhibits, performance venues, and preserved historical landmarks, Green Mountain Falls also offers over 20 miles of magnificent hiking trails.
“Green Box Art is Green Mountain Falls,” explains Levy. “We exist to promote the beauty of this town and foster the art that is inspired by it.” So, the next time you’re driving up Hwy 24, pull off at that sign and go check out the wonderment of Green Mountain Falls.

Varieties of Tomatoes
Good Earth Garden Center: It’s a Journey
113
+ More
26
While Roma, cherry and globe tomatoes have cornered the supermarket space, connoisseurs and gardeners alike have been seeking out some rarer cultivars.
There are more than 10,000 varieties of tomatoes available to those willing to do some searching. The Pikes Peak region resides largely in the USDA’s Hardiness Zones four and five. This means some varieties will grow better.
So what’s a gardener to do, and where do we get our hands on these rare varietals?
LINE UP EARLY
Wayne Fisher has owned Good Earth Garden Center for 49 years and has evolved through the years to find his garden center niche. Tomatoes play a large role in that niche. Currently, he has sourced and offers 113 different varieties of tomatoes each year.
Many veteran visitors join their email list to get a sneak peek into the varietals that will be available each year. These visitors
make their lists and line up early outside the shop on the first day of availability to make sure they get everything.
FROM HOBBY TO STORE FRONT
It all started when Fisher decided to make a few bucks by exploiting a hobby. Houseplants were a big deal in the 60s and 70s and he had a number of them cohabitating with him in his orange VW van. He tried selling some houseplants out of his van and became so successful that he started making a mid-day trek to Denver to re-stock.
In the mid-1970s, Fisher upgraded from a van-front to a store-front and hasn’t slowed down since. (Don’t worry, he still has the van.) House plants were soon joined by perennials and pottery. Garden art and vegetables were next to the party.
Today, the shop at 1330 W. Walnut Street is a journey. Paths lead visitors on an adventure through themed cast-stone
gardens to shop for any number of plants and décor for the garden.
DESIGNED TO INSPIRE
There are no sterile, straight rows here; this place is designed to inspire. Ceramic pots from chartreuse to plum, navy to buttercream are on display – squint and you’re staring at a pantone palette. Fisher also notes he is one of the few places who carry yard art from Colorado Springs’ own Sandy Friedman, a local artist producing structural art in ceramic and steel.
Clean out the back of the truck or SUV and take the journey to make that home garden the envy of the neighborhood and a peaceful place to enjoy these perfect Colorado summers.

REVITALIZING A NEIGHBORHOOD
ARTICLE
In the 1960s, Colorado Springs lost a lot of its visual history when some of the historical buildings fell as a casualty to cost benefits. At the time, it was cheaper to tear down an old building and build a new one than to preserve the history and architecture in the existing structure. The Burns Theater, the second version of The Antlers Hotel and The Cotton Club were all historical buildings torn down and replaced during this time.

Ivywild: From Elementary School to Community Marketplace
30
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Ivywild School was founded in 1901 as an elementary school. The original building was designed by architect Thomas McLaren as a two-story building that would seat 100 students. This building was erected in 1901 and used until 1915, when it started to get crowded. It was moved to a different location at one point, became a private residence for a while, then was remodeled into the current Edelweiss Restaurant. The school moved to the current building in 1916 and at one point had an enrollment of almost 400 students.
In February 2009, a number of District 11 schools were up for closure due to declining enrollment. Joseph Coleman and Mike Bristol owned businesses in the Ivywild neighborhood. When they saw the Gazette headline indicating the Ivywild School was among the possible school closures, they couldn’t see it go to ruin. There was so much history in that area and in that building.
COMMUNITY CONNECTION
Coleman, owner of The Blue Star Restaurant and Bristol, owner of Bristol Brewing Company, wanted to honor the original intent of the space, which was to educate and bring the community together.
Long hours, meetings upon meetings and some dark and sub-freezing building walk-throughs were all part of the deal. But so was connecting with the members of the community. Members who had attended the school or worked there. Members who had painted multiplication tables in the bathrooms and others who had spent time in the principal’s office. Members who were newer to the community but saw the value in keeping this piece of history and using it to revitalize a neighborhood they already loved.
On May 30, 2013, Ivywild School opened back up as Ivywild School, a community marketplace. A brewery and a bakery offered food and drink and soon, they started incubating local businesses, as well. Who Gives a SCRAP, run by Lorrie Myers, was one of the first. The
business concept was a craft material reuse and repurpose shop accepting donations of craft materials and giving local crafters a place to re-shop their supplies rather than end up in a landfill. Today, Who Gives a SCRAP is thriving in a larger space over on Arcturus Dr.
Today, Ivywild School still incubates small businesses. Sometimes, it’s a food truck team wanting to try out a storefront or a unique niche art and gift shop looking to reach a new audience. Currently, visitors can nosh at Ivywild Kitchen, Bristol’s Spark Beer + BBQ, Decent Pizza Co., Lazo Empanadas, and Salad or Bust. Drink options include the Principal’s Office, The Bristol Pub, Bristol’s Barrel Room and Axe and the Oak Whiskey House. Odds & Ends Emporium rounds out the experience by offering unique gifts and art, and if you linger downstairs next to Axe and the Oak’s outside entrance, you might be able to smell the scrumptious roastings of Loyal Coffee as they are hard at work in “The Clubhouse,” pulling flavors from specialty coffee beans.
FUTURE PLANS
The outer spaces of Ivywild School are changing, as well. Construction is underway for a family-friendly, multi-generational space for patrons to enjoy some of the Colorado sunshine. This space will include fire pits and seating as well as a structure by local artist Bob Tudor.
This space is upholding the legacy as a gathering space for the neighborhood. Take a stroll down memory lane, as you descend the stairs and admire the art on your way to Axe and the Oak. Admire the reuse of the chalkboards and desks as you sip a prohibition-era libation in the Principal’s Office. Sample some local award-winning beer, and have the bartender tell you the story of the sliding door in The Bristol Pub.
They are ready for you.

TURNING UP THE HEAT AT COLORADO MARKETS

MOON PEPPERS: PICKLED WITH A TWIST
May brings the official start to the Colorado outdoor market season. We can once again procure crafted goods, enjoy homemade delights, and find our favorite Colorado Proud products, while enjoying the fresh mountain air.
One of the newest market foodie-finds to keep your eye out for is Moon Peppers.
The creators of Moon Peppers, Diem and Khai Vuu, are a young couple from Texas who decided to put down roots in Colorado Springs. They vacationed in the area over the years and fell in love with the weather, the outdoor adventure opportunities, and especially the strong community support. They felt like it was the perfect place to raise their young son and to begin their new business journey: introducing Moon Peppers to the world. We reached out to Diem and Khai to find out more about these spicy little treats.
WHAT ARE MOON PEPPERS?
The name “Moon Peppers” represents the essence of growth. The name was born out of a serendipitous moment during our early beginnings while cutting peppers. We noticed the charming moon-like shape and then later discovered that peppers grow at night. Peppers absorb energy from the sunlight during the day and then flourish under the moon’s gentle glow. Moon Peppers embodies the power of growth that thrives even during the darkest moments.

WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION?
One night while we were having dinner, we felt our dishes were lacking a bit of a kick. Instantly, we thought about our grandmothers’ pickled condiments and how wonderful they would pair with our dinner. We remembered they would pickle mustard greens, carrots, cauliflower, garlic and how wonderful they tasted, but we never recalled them pickling anything spicy. So, we thought how amazing it would be for us to use their traditional brine and add a spicy twist.
WHAT MAKES MOON PEPPERS UNIQUE?
We carefully select the finest quality peppers, de-seed and de-vein the caribe and jalapeno peppers, and hand-slice the serrano and habanero peppers. We then go through a process of shaking the peppers to remove most of the seeds and then give it multiple filtered water baths prior to pickling the peppers. This is what gives our peppers the unique spice levels and unique taste almost anyone can enjoy. We also carry different varieties of peppers that aren’t typically found in stores.
(The Moon Pepper lineup includes caribe, jalapeño, serrano, and habanero peppers. They also carry pickled cauliflower and carrots infused with zesty jalapeño.)
HOW ARE MOON PEPPERS BEST ENJOYED?
Our peppers can be enjoyed in many ways. It can be enjoyed with noodles, rice, eggs, pasta, sushi, steak, hamburgers, hotdogs, sandwiches, salads, pizza, tacos, BBQ, and nachos. But we want people to just have fun with peppers and explore creative ways of eating.
WHERE CAN WE FIND MOON PEPPERS?
Moon Pepper products can be found at many local outdoor markets where samples are provided. Moon Peppers can also be found at the following retail stores: Bread & Butter, Ranch Foods Direct, and The LOCAL in Parker. Moon Peppers can also be purchased and shipped through the website. For market locations, follow our Instagram and Facebook pages.

“INTERNATIONAL WONDER” CELEBRATES 140 YEARS
SEVEN FALLS: NEW FOOD, FUN AND... CHIPMUNKS!
ARTICLE BY ASHLEY HAMERSHOCK PHOTOGRAPHY BY THE BROADMOOR RESORT
Seven Falls is turning 140 years old. That means celebrations and new additions at the only Colorado waterfall on National Geographic’s list of international wonders, including:
• New offerings at 1858, a restaurant perched along the banks of the falls, which features from-scratch Colorado cuisine
• New 1858 Food Truck options, including bubble waffles
• Four-foot-tall chipmunk art installations created by local thirdgrade students
Called “The Grandest Mile of Scenery in Colorado,” Seven Falls has been a tourist destination since 1883. The one-mile, box-type canyon ends with the seven falls – Ramona, Feather, Bridal Veil, Shorty, Hull, Weimer and Hill –plunging from a height of 181 feet. The falls light up at night.
A BIT OF HISTORY
In 1882, James Hull bought the property and began to build a road to Seven Falls, but died before it was finished. His sons built the first wooden stairway up the falls and completed the road. In 1891, the wooden stairway was replaced with 224 iron steps.
The property changed hands a couple more times before 2014, when it was sold to Philip Anschutz and The Broadmoor. In 2015, The Broadmoor

Seven Falls, Restaurant 1858, and the Woods course of The Broadmoor Soaring Adventure opened. In 2016, a second zipline course was added.
These days, visitors enjoy 10 zip lines ranging in distance from 250 feet to 1,800 feet as well as rope bridges, hiking and a controlled, 180-foot rappel.
A BIT ABOUT THE CHIPMUNKS
To mark the 140th anniversary of Seven Falls, The Broadmoor launched an art contest for local third-grade classes to design a concept for a four-foot-tall chipmunk art display.
The 10 finalists were selected recently and their creations will be on display by May 10. Visitors may vote on their favorite display through Labor Day.
“It was difficult to select ten finalists when all of the submissions were creative and thoughtfully planned,” said Scott Flexman, The Broadmoor’s vice president of sales and marketing.
The winning display will earn a field trip this fall to Seven Falls for the entire 2022-23 third grade class and teachers, as well as Seven Falls discounts for the school’s entire student body.
“This initiative intends to engage the community of Colorado Springs in ongoing events to celebrate the history of Seven Falls,” Flexman said. “The Broadmoor looks forward to celebrating this special anniversary of this majestic Pikes Peak attraction with students and visitors from around the world this year and for the next 140 years.”

GARDEN TO GLASS
DIY COCKTAILS WITH FRESH HERBS
Nothing says spring like the aroma of fresh cut herbs in a crisp, cold, cocktail. With warmer weather finally here, growing herbs at home can transform your cocktail hour and add a fresh kick to your springtime favorites.
Growing herbs is incredibly easy and can be done in a variety of ways- from a container in a window, to a planter box in the yard. With a container or garden full of fresh herbs, you will be ready to take your cocktails up a notch.
Basil is a bright herb that is easy to grow and perfect for cocktails. Make sure and harvest immediately before mixing drinks and take leaves from the top to ensure a continual harvest. Fresh muddled basil leaves lend a crispness to the Gin Basil Cucumber cocktail.
Sage is easy to grow and does well in containers. The leaves add an earthy freshness to a refreshing cherry infused Bourbon.
Mint is also easy to grow, but give it lots of room, as it likes to spread out and is virtually indestructible in the garden. Mint is a versatile herb but is especially lovely in the Rhubarb Mint Mojito.
Try recreating these refreshing cocktails with herbs grown at home and take your cocktail game to new heights!

Colorado’s Largest Street Fair
TERRITORY DAYS: MUSIC, FOOD, CRAFTS, CULTURE + PATRIOTISM
Great food.
Thirty-five bands on three stages.
Hundreds of unique vendors.
The first Territory Days was just a simple craft fair and parade down Colorado Avenue. Nearly a half century later, it’s the largest street fair in Colorado.
“The police department will say 50,000 people a day,” said Jim Wear, longtime organizer of the event. “It’s really impossible to count. It is by all accounts the biggest, best attended event of the year in Colorado Springs.”

After being cooped up all winter, this is the first big outdoor gathering. And “Old Colorado City is just a really cool place,” Wear said. “If you had it in a farmer’s field or a mall parking lot, it just wouldn’t be as cool.”

HISTORICAL CELEBRATION
Territory Days got its name because Old Colorado City (which at the time was simply Colorado City) was Colorado’s first territorial capital, in the 1860s. It joined the union as the 38th state in 1876.
“This was the richest place in the state because of all the gold coming down from Cripple Creek,” said Wear, whose Pro Productions is co-organizing the event his year with Aponi Productions.
Although the gold strike was relatively short lived, remnants remain, including the old Garvin cabin built in 1859. It served as the territorial capital building until folks from Washington visited and decided a more dignified location might be more appropriate if Colorado were to become a state.
At the time, one side of Colorado Avenue featured shops and regular businesses. The other side held saloons and brothels. Tunnels ran underneath the street, so “respectable” men could travel back and forth without being seen.
THREE FULL DAYS OF FUN
These days, Old Colorado City turns into a giant party for all ages every Memorial Day weekend, with activities from bygone days as well as the latest and greatest for kids and adults alike.
“We really try to cater to the kids,” Wear said. “We have a lot of stuff for the kids to do. … All the entertainment is family friendly.”

In addition to the crafts and the food, check out the mechanical bull, gold panning, kids’ play area, petting zoo, Cowboy Church Service, toy train rides, beer gardens, period-costumed characters, Native American dancers and more!
“We have worked very hard to provide people with the entertainment and handmade, one-of-a-kind goods that you can’t find anywhere else.”
One of the things that has drawn a larger crowd over the last decade is that organizers have brought back a Memorial Day observance with a moment of silence, a color guard and a band from Fort Carson.
“We guarantee people will have a great time,” Wear said, adding that he would be remiss if he didn’t give credit to the Old Colorado Merchants Association. “They are really the ones responsible for continuing the tradition.”
