RESPONSIBILITY WEEK | 2023

A MESSAGE FROM ROB ELLIS

Alcohol is an important part of our business and hospitality in general, but it is an area that can be high risk if not managed responsibly. As President of Levy, it’s one of the things that keeps me up at night.

Not only are there legal risks, like the possible loss of a liquor license and personal liability lawsuits, but there are reputational risks too. Most importantly, failing to serve alcohol responsibly creates safety concerns for our team members and guests.

Our business is evolving faster than at any time in our history. Innovations, like frictionless markets, offer new ways to experience our hospitality but they also may disrupt existing processes, in particular the potential for guests to bypass someone who has been trained in responsible alcohol service. We have to adapt and evolve our controls to ensure the same rigorous checks and protocols are standard across every part of our operation.

Responsibility Week is about taking the time to stop, reflect, celebrate and improve the way we approach alcohol service. From educational content to self-audit tools, there will be a range of ways to re-look at how responsibly alcohol is being served in your location. This is not a check-box item. It is an opportunity for reflection and improvement.

Our vision is to passionately pursue and create the best experiences. That’s only possible if we do the important things right, each and every day. Serving alcohol responsibly is one of the most important things we do.

Thank you for your participation in Responsibility

Week and your continued commitment to Raising the Bar!

MONDAY |

Serving Alcohol is an essential, but risky part of our business - it is a privilege but also a huge responsibility! Responsibility Week was created to highlight the importance of safe alcohol service and provide us the opportunity to refocus on our policies and best practices to ensure the safety and enjoyment of everyone. It is important to remember that everyone plays a role in the responsible service of alcohol - Levy leadership, hourly Team Members, and third-party servers such as temps, subcontractors and volunteers. Through the various tools and resources that will be shared this week we hope you find Raising The Bar to be a fun and impactful way to celebrate the safe service of alcohol with your teams this week and beyond.

TUESDAY |

Today our focus is on the fundamental legal requirements and our rigorous policies for serving alcohol at our Levy locations. It is critical that we train and certify those that serve alcohol on behalf of our company in compliance with the law and our policies, so they have the knowledge and credentials needed to safely and legally serve our guests. All policies and supporting details can be found in the Beverage/RAS Core Signature. Everyone should be familiar with these standards after being highlighted in today's pre-shift meeting notes.
