68% or Keys participants are promoted following their graduation from the program.

Details of all participants are shared with the Talent Acquisition team and upon graduation they are connected with a recruiter to build a profile and advise potential roles.

The Keys program has the best diverse representation of any talent program.

Keys is one of our best pipelines for diverse future leaders, with 59% of participants being diverse and a high proportion being female.

Launched in the 1990’s, Keys to the Future is Levy’s oldest internal development program. A blend of on the job, mentoring and soft skills training, it is our primary ‘stepping into management’ program for high potential hourly Team Members. With over 1400 graduate since 1994, Keys has been a powerful part Levy’s growth story.

Over 100 Team Members per year take part in the Keys to the future program.

Keys is supported by a group of experienced mentors who guide and support participants through the program

KEYS SUCCESS STORIES

With so many graduates over the years, there are Keys to the Future Success stories everywhere in our company - below are just a few examples of leaders who took part in the program and went on to do amazing things!

JANELLE ADAMS STEPHEN FARRELL JON SANCHEZ

Catering Manager

Janelle began her career as Catering Supervisor at Moda Center. Upon graduating Keys to the Future, Janelle was promoted to Restaurant Manager and is now Catering Manager.

Concessions Manager

Stephen started with Levy as Catering Server at American Airlines Arena before moving to United Center where he graduated. Stephen is now Concessions Manager at Wrigley Field.

Director of Human Resources

Jon worked Suites Supervisor at the Paycom Center before graduating Keys to the Future. He went on to become Senior HR Manager Director of HR.

The Keys to the Future program was an incredible experience. It made me the leader I am today.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

6 to 9 month completion goal though flexible based on business needs and location’s seasonality

TECHNICAL SKILLS ORGANIZATION LEADERSHIP

Specific, pre-determined skill training within the Key’s department incorporating enhanced skill development and department best practices.

Custom, T&TD led leadership development workshops aligned with Keys’ career path and business needs

Trainees will balance their time between their Keys training and current role. This will require an elevated level of time-management skills, increased communication, and mentor support

BUILDING YOUR PROFESSIONAL BRAND

The way a manager dresses, holds themselves and treats others has a huge affect on a managers effectiveness, reputation and career. This workshop supports participants in being purposeful about the way they present themselves.

Email Etiquette in the Workplace

As the primary business communication tool, email is an important aspect for aspiring managers to learn. The goal is to equip students with skills to efficiently communicate while maintaining professional standards.

Recognizing Unconscious Bias

Unconscious Bias are present in everyone and can have a real impact on the outcomes of their team. This class covers different types of biases, their impacts, and strategies for recognizing and mitigating them.

VIRTUAL WORKSHOPS

DiSC

DiSC is one of the best tools to understand your own natural style and that of others. This insight can be used to improve interpersonal relationships and personal effectiveness.

Time Management 101

There are 86,400 seconds in each day. Learning to make the most out of that time can be the difference between success and mediocrity. This class shares best practices for productivity and personal organization.

APPROACH

While it has been revamped and evolved many times over the years, the essence of the Keys to the Future program has always stayed the same. Keys is a hands-on, mentor support learning program, designed to develop practical management skills.

MENTOR BASED ON JOB LEARNING

Mentors are the MVP’s of the Keys to the Future program. The mentor assists with providing on-job-learning, coaching and support to the Key throughout their time in the program.

Mentors should be experiences Levy managers who are experts in their field.

Mentors should have the time and capacity to commit to the entire keys journey.

Keys is a vocational training based program. On Job Learning is a core part of the program. Shadow shifts, cross-departmental experience and skills checklists are important to ensuring Keys are set for success.

THE ERIC LINDBERG AWARD

Every year we recognize one outstanding Keys graduate with the newly renamed Eric Lindberg Award. Eric who sadly passed away in 2020 was always passionate about developing future leaders, and the Keys to the Future program in particular. We are so proud to honor his memory with this award.
