Upper Deck Golf Coming To Lincoln Financial Field!

Fans Can Sign Up Now For Early Access To Tee Times For An Exclusive 4-Day Event!

Lincoln Financial Field and Upper Deck Golf announced today that tee times will be available for bookings to the public for the one-of-a-kind golf event inside Lincoln Financial Field. The event, which will take place May 30th –June 2nd, 2024, gives fans an exclusive opportunity to play a round of golf inside the stadium.

As part of the Upper Deck Golf event, fans will have a chance to play a round of golf throughout Lincoln Financial Field down to custom greens on the field below while enjoying great music, cold drinks, food and multiple golfing challenges at

a clubhouse bar and festival area inside the stadium.

Upper Deck Golf will offer tee times available to be booked as early as 7:00 AM on the four dates and as late as 9:00 PM. Tee times will be offered in two player increments and VIP tee times will be available that offer a more premium experience for fans looking to enjoy additional perks at the event including free entry into driving, chipping, and putting challenges and complimentary food and beverage items.

Standard clubs will be available for players to use at each tee box. While

guests are welcome to bring their own clubs, no drivers or fairway metals will be allowed within the stadium for safety purposes.

Registration for tee times opens in mid-April, but you can register now for Early Access to tee times prior to the General Public. Tee times are limited and are expected to sell out quickly!

Ten Years Later, Landis Creek Has Become

The Place To Be

With An Improved Golf Course And A Thriving Bar At The Creekside,

There’s Always Something Happening

Landis Creek Golf Club is not your father’s Limerick Golf Club.

It’s been 10 years since Brian and Jean Lutz brought a little golf expertise, a lot of background in the food service business and the experience he and wife Jean had compiled as caterers to what was then known as Limerick Golf Club and the Sandtrap Bar and turned it into Landis Creek Golf Club, the Creekside Sports Bar & Grille and The Loft at Landis Creek.

Slowly, but surely the Lutzes have watched Landis Creek improve as a golf course and, more importantly, the golf course and the bar has become a place to be amid a variety of public-course offerings in a Limerick area in western Montgomery County that continues a growth spurt that began in the 1990s and has never slowed down.

Jason Hilz, the Director of Golf & Club Operations, has been there for all of it. He arrived when it was still Limerick with some ideas about how to improve the golf side of things, but he’s seen the Lutzes take the whole operation to a new level in the last decade.

“We were doing 16,000 rounds a year my first year in 2012 and last year we did 37,000, so that’s significant,” Hilz said on a quiet March morning with the 2024 golf season beckoning. “It helps to have an owner with the kind of vision Brian has shown. He’s always looking to try to make improvements anywhere he can.”

Landis Creek’s superintendent Brett Cuthbertson has been there all along as well and has executed any number of Lutz initiatives to improve the layout, which plays 6,068 yards and to a par of 70 from the blue tees, with options that can make it play as short as 4,625 yards.

A pond was added that brings an element of risk for those who think they can reach the par-5 7th hole in two. Bunkers have been added and existing ones have been touched up. Cuthbertson and his crew have worked hard to improve the day-to-day conditioning of the golf course and it has shown.

Landis Creek made a considerable investment a few years ago to improve the cart

paths, an improvement that also had a visual impact in the way the paths frame the holes.

The Lutzes, as owners, have always made it a point to have a welcome-to-summer event and this year it will coincide with the June 1, 2014 date when the paperwork was completed and Limerick became Landis Creek.

There will be bands playing all day beginning at 12 noon for the 10th anniversary of the birth of Landis Creek Golf Club and the Creekside Sports Bar & Grille and WXTU 92.5-FM will broadcast live from the Creekside. The patio space that adjoins the Creekside has been improved over the years and there’s room for up to 500 people in a mood to have fun.

You can start the day with a round of golf and Landis Creek is billing its 10th anniversary as the party of the year. It will be the kind of day on which the biggest transformation that has occurred in the last 10 years will be on display. Landis Creek and the Creekside has become a community gathering spot.

And the golf course is a very big part of that equation as well.

“There was a time when you could make the point that we were a bar that happened to be at a golf course,” said Hilz, an Iowa native who has found a home in western Montgomery County. “But in a lot of respects, I think the golf course operation has turned that around to a certain extent.”

There will be two more golf leagues at Landis Creek this season, which brings the total to 10.

“We have 300 league players a week,” Hilz said. “And this place is just perfect for turning a league into a social event. We have this great patio to hang out at when the round is over.”

In the middle of the Lutzes’ tenure as the owner of Landis Creek, in the spring of 2020, came the coronavirus and all the upheaval that came with a global pandemic. But in the midst of it all, the game of golf emerged as a big winner.

People who hadn’t played in years rediscovered the game. Many others who had never played took up the game for the first time and many of them are still playing. The surge in popularity of the game has given operators of public courses like Hilz problems, good problems.

“I don’t think we have as many outings as we used to, but it’s different now because we have so much regular play you hate to give up the golf course for a whole day to have an outing,” Hilz said.

It’s a struggle at times to give Cuthbertson and his crew enough time to keep up the conditioning of the golf course.

“Sometimes on Mondays we’ll move the first starting times back to 8 a.m. to give Brett and his guys a chance to get their work done,” Hilz said.

Landis Creek will have a new cart fleet for 2024 and the carts will be equipped with GPS. That will allow the golf shop to monitor pace of play and send out a video message to pick it up for a group that’s falling behind.

Hilz admits that some of his new clientele aren’t always familiar with golf etiquette. Hilz and his staff do what they can to educate some of those new to the game on how to behave on the course, but there again, the GPS on the carts will help in that regard.

“One of the things that will pop on your screen in the cart is a reminder on fixing ball marks on the greens and stuff like that,” Hilz said.

When Hilz arrived at Landis Creek from Gilbertsville 12 years ago, he brought along some events that have become some of the most anticipated dates on the calendar each year.

The Shamrock Shootout, a four-man 8-inch cup scramble, has already kicked off the Landis Creek tournament schedule in its usual spot on the calendar over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

The last Friday in July will bring Hops Around the U.S., a 9-hole, two-person scramble that includes tastings on each tee from some of the many breweries that have

In October, Landis Creek stages its Fall Five-Man Scramble, another 8-inch cup event.

“When we open registration, it sells out in one or two days,” Hilz said. “When we started it, we had to promote it. Now it really just sells itself.”

With an eye toward the future, Hilz has made Landis Creek available for some of the junior golf organizations to stage events there.

U.S. Kids Golf and the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour will hold events at Landis Creek in April. There will be a local KO Tour event, a circuit under the direction of nearby Linfield National head pro and owner Robert Kleckner and other local pros.

The Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour, based in North Carolina, will visit Landis Creek for the first time in 2024. And Landis

Beldrie Takes The Pomp And Circumstance Out Of Golfwear With A Women-First Approach

Raise your hand if you’ve ever been personally victimized by a collared shirt.

That’s how Blair Roemer, founder of Beldrie, jokingly described her early experience with women’s golf apparel. After rummaging through her closet for something to wear on an outing with her family, the only option she had was an ill-fitting Lacoste collared shirt that brought back haunting memories of popped collars and Uggs with skirts. “I ran out to local stores, but they offered few golf specific options, were overpriced, or fit poorly,” Roemer said. “Meanwhile, the men in my family casually threw on good looking outfits – looking comfortable and polished. I thought to myself, I can’t be alone in this, and it shouldn’t have to be this way for women in golf,” Roemer said.

The idea for the brand was conceived while Roemer was cutting her teeth in business at Meta (formerly Facebook). “I realized there was a huge opportunity in the women’s golf apparel space, and soon became obsessed with the vision behind this brand,” Roemer said. “Beldrie is all about celebrating the modern female golfer, bridging the gap between athleisure and high-performance golf wear,” Roemer said. “What we’re not about: intimidating golf culture and ill-fitting golf apparel. I like to say that we’re doing golf differently.” Beldrie launched their debut line, the Core Collection, in February.

The Core Collection is an ode to traditional golf apparel, elevated by a cool aesthetic.

The hero items are the Elevated Top and the Elevated Skort, which are available in 3 different hues including white, black and sky blue. The top, which features a relaxed collar and a slightly cropped length, is priced at $108, while the golf skort, designed with a high waist and interior shorts, is $128. Beldrie also offers a mock neck top ($98), as well as a quarterzip pullover ($138).

Accessibility and approachability are at the core of Beldrie. “We serve the modern golfer, where for them, a golf round is more about community and time with friends. I really wanted to create a brand that was different from the performance-driven, hard-core brands, or even the old school, classic brands that serve a more traditional demographic.” A key part of Roemer’s strategy is building a community on social media, where Beldrie has garnered a niche but fast growing following. In a matter of a few short months, Beldrie has established a micro-influence within the women’s golf space. Her community of followers is mostly women between the ages of 25 and 44.

The post-pandemic world continues to increase play among women, driving record golf participation. With a 14% increase in women golfers since 2019, 25% of on course golfers are female. Women make up 45% of off-course golfers, with an average age of 31. Programming like LIV golf and Full Swing from Netflix are now drawing even more attention to the game. Golf is evolving and is

entering its best era for engagement.

“It was just so important for me to create a playful brand that turns the existing idea of golf on its head,” Roemer said. “Golf is a lifelong sport that can really give back, whether they’re a seasoned pro or a beginner golfer, if we can drive women’s engagement in the sport by giving them the confidence they need to step on the green, that’s a huge win for me.”

Fairway Chicks Connecting Women To The Game of Golf

In the world of golf, where precision meets passion and every swing tells a story, there’s a narrative that often goes unsung – the story and elevation of women’s golf. Fairway Chicks, a Philadelphia based women’s golf group, aims to change that. Fairway Chicks connects women in the Philadelphia area to the game of golf, one swing at a time. Established in 2023 by Monica Austin, a dedicated golfer with a lifelong passion for the sport, Fairway Chicks embodies a vision born out of Austin’s deep-rooted connection to the game since she started playing at the age of 4. Having honed her skills competitively throughout high school and college, Austin’s journey led her to Philadelphia, where, after nearly six years, she found herself grappling with the challenge of connecting with like-minded female golfers in the area.

Presently, Fairway Chicks boasts just over 180 members of local women, each looking to grow their game with fellow “golf chicks”.

“One of our main goals is to empower more women to get into the game no

one female in every group.”

Fairway Chicks plans to release more events for the 2024 season in the coming weeks, including 9-hole outings, fullswing and short-game clinics, as well as driving range meetups.

“For the first six years I lived in Philly, I didn’t know a single other woman my age who played golf” says Austin, “I would try to get my friends to start playing, but all I would constantly hear from them was that they want to start playing golf but they really didn’t know where to start or that their boyfriend or family plays but they’re too nervous to ask to join them since they’ve been playing for so long and don’t want to slow everyone down” says Austin, “and I thought, ‘you know golf really is such an intimidating sport to learn’. There are so

Fairway Chicks recently announced their spring kick-off event taking place on Sunday, April 21st at Philmont Country Club. “Our Spring Classic event is one I’m really looking forward to” says Austin, “we expect to have a full field of 48 players, both men and women, competing in a four-person scramble format. Construction Underway on The Horseshoe Bay Resort Golf Academy with Fall Opening Planned

Purpose-Built Space To Include The 80,000 Square-Foot Practice Facility At Cap Rock Complex

Central Texas’ premier AAA-Four Diamond and Conde Nast Readers’ Choice Award-winning destination managed by the industry-leading Crescent Hotels & Resorts, announced construction is underway on a new state-of-the-art teaching academy with plans to have the space operational in the fall of 2024.

Construction on the 3,000 square foot Horseshoe Bay Resort Golf Academy began January 22.

The exclusive area for members and resort guests features two indoor bays with Trackman and Toptracer technology, club-fitting services, a club repair room (fondly labeled the Dirty Room) and a demonstration area with shafts, grips and clubheads from top manufacturers like Titleist, TaylorMade and Callaway.

“Everything you could get as a tour player at a tour van will be available to members and guests at our facility,” said Horseshoe Bay Director of Golf Operations Anthony Holder.

The elevated teaching experience doesn’t end there. Once players are finished with lessons they can go outside to one of eight covered bays nearby that all feature the same Toptracer technology that was just used during their respective teaching sessions.

Each player will have the ability to see realtime data for each swing.

Packages for individuals, couples, juniors, academies and clinics will be offered. There also will be additional programs designed to incorporate fitness into a session. Holder expects that groups of business executives will reserve the space for team-building activities while sprinkling in a little golf. The Trackman technology can also turn the space into a simulator experience with nearly 200 golf courses available.

“The Horseshoe Bay Resort Golf Academy not only enhances our member and guest instruction opportunities, but it also enhances another function space for our groups adding another amenity in our tool

belt to create a unique experience for, say, 12 executives who want to do a whiskey and cigar event while having long drive contests, or something similar,” Holder said.

Horseshoe Bay Resort is annually ranked as one of the top 100 resorts in the country according to Golf Magazine, Golfweek and Golf Digest. It boasts four 18-hole championship layouts – Apple Rock, Ram Rock and Slick Rock all designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones, Sr., and Summit Rock, an exclusive Jack Nicklaus Signature design – and the 18-hole Whitewater putting course.

The new teaching facility will reside on the back of the practice range that services Apple Rock and Ram Rock. Panmure Golf Club –A Must Play On Your Next Scotland Golf Trip Walk In The Steps Of Legendary Ben

Hogan, Where He Prepared For His 1953 Open Victory

American golfers naturally gravitate to Scotland as one of their top bucket list destinations. The home of golf features such iconic golf experiences as The Old Course at St. Andrews, Royal Dornoch, Muirfield, Prestwick, North Berek, Carnoustie Golf Links, and the site of The Open Championship this summer, Troon, to name a few.

While these historic venues top any golfer’s list, Scotland is also home to hundreds of other wonderful under-theradar courses that are rich in history and provide an authentic Scottish golf experience. One of those must-plays: Panmure Golf Club, located only 1.5 miles from Carnoustie and a 45-minute drive from St. Andrews.

Celebrating its 125th anniversary (1899) in 2024 at its current site in Barry, Panmure is the world’s 21st oldest golf club. The original layout was designed by Old Tom Morris and constructed by R. Duff of Edinburgh, who also built the New Course at St Andrews and Muirfield.

Many of the original holes remain. In

the 1920’s, five-time Open champion James Braid suggested modifications that became the most significant updates to Panmure over the past century. As a result, some of the charming characteristics include holes designed by these greats: Braid’s par3, 180-yard 9th hole, with its undulating green protected by large bunkers and dunes, and Old Tom’s par-4, 396-yard 12th hole which requires an accurate approach shot to carry the Buddon Burn guarding the front of the green.

Today, Panmure is a timeless experience with its authentic course and clubhouse. The par-70 course measures 6,551 yards and combines the best elements of links and heathland, with

tight fairways, challenging carries and undulating greens. True to links golf, holes play mostly firm and fast while the rolling fairways wind through dunes and pine trees, leading to greens that are protected by proper Scottish bunkers.

Panmure has hosted many prestigious championships over the years, ranging from national amateur tournaments to final qualifying for The Open Championship. It’s also the 2024 qualifying venue for the Seniors Open at Carnoustie. Plus, it was recently nominated for best £100-to-£250 green fee course at the Scottish Golf Tourism awards and is ranked No. 34 among Golf World’s Top 100 Courses in Scotland. Golf Digest also

GOLFERS CAN WALK THE FAIRWAYS OF BEN HOGAN

Ben Hogan only played in one Open Championship, but he left an indelible mark on Scotland’s east coast because of how he won the game’s oldest major and how he prepared for it.

The Hawk famously captured the 1953 Open at Carnoustie Golf Links by shooting a final-round 68 while battling the flu. He topped four men by four shots in his lone voyage to Scotland, which came four years after an automobile accident that nearly killed him.

That journey, however, began two weeks earlier when Hogan, accompanied only by his caddy, Cecil Timms, arrived

at Panmure to acclimate to the terrain of links golf and to acquaint himself with the smaller 1.62-inch British ball that was used at the time.

Hogan was the only participant in the Open given the privilege of playing at Panmure, which at the time was an extremely private club. He was able to practice away from the prying eyes of the public and press.

He would never play in the Open again, but his legacy at Panmure remains. The 6th hole, a 414-yard par 4, stroke index 1, was Hogan’s favorite on the course and is now named after him. He suggested to the club that a strategically placed pot bunker be built to the front right of the green. It was and it is still known as Hogan’s bunker.

The other legendary story from Hogan’s Panmure experience came on the par-4, 401-yard 17th. Hogan liked the green and spent much time putting there, but he wanted it to run quicker. So he asked head greenskeeper William Falconer if the mower could shave the green a tad

tighter. Falconer said it was possible, but pointed to the mower and mentioned that Hogan was free to do it himself. He did, and word is that he later returned the mower to Falconer in pristine condition after insisting on cleaning it first.

Hogan never returned to Scotland, and the victory at Carnoustie marked the last major he’d ever win. The Scots still refer to him as the “Wee Ice Mon” because of his steely demeanor, determination, and ability to perform best under pressure. The Open victory, combined with his presence at Panmure during the preceding weeks, were enough for Hogan to forever remain a legend in the area.

The Long Game, an Inspirational True Story Golf Movie, Starring Jay Hernandez, Dennis Quaid, and Cheech Marin Coming to Theaters April 12th

On April 12th, Mucho Mas Media will release Julio Quintana’s golf drama The Long Game (THE LONG GAME - Official Trailer (2024) (youtube.com)) starring Jay Hernandez and Dennis Quaid, in theaters nationwide.

The film had its world premiere at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival, where it won the Narrative Spotlight Audience Award and received rave reviews from critics praising its top-notch performances and calling it a crowd-pleasing and uplifting film based on a true story. This marks director Quintana and Quaid’s reunion after the success of their first film, Netflix’s true-story sports drama Blue Miracle.

The Long Game, inspired by the book “Mustang Miracle” written by Humberto G. Garcia, follows the true story of five young Mexican American caddies in 1955 who created their own golf course in the middle of the South Texas brush country. Now, everyone gets custom fit for their equipment, but that wasn’t the case until golf professionals became invested in the process. Our next phase of growth will undoubtedly involve giving teaching and club professionals the tools to help golfers play pain-free and at their maximum potential.”

International golf star Tom Kim, two-time major winner and U.S. Ryder Cup Captain Zach Johnson, and multiple-tournament winner on the PGA TOUR Ryan Palmer have all signed brand ambassador agreements with GolfForever. The brand has forged partnerships with countless golf associations, including Folds of Honor, Veteran Golfers Association and Golf Canada in addition to its cornerstone alliances with the PGA TOUR and the LPGA. The GolfForever teams’ eyes now shift toward plans to launch a certification program that would make an army of PGA club and teaching professionals qualified and motivated to their students the value of training with GolfForever.

As the brand continues to grow, so does its staff. Earlier this year, GolfForever welcomed new Marketing Coordinator Celia Kuenster after Hage and Borkowski met her at the Women Who Want to Work in Golf event organized by Fore Hire, a company that connects women golfers from all competitive levels to jobs within the industry. Kuenster played collegiately at the University of Minnesota before completing her education at the University of Arizona in 2020. Her work with GolfForever has already taken her to the 2024 Ryder Cup in Rome and instilled

her with a deeper passion for working in the golf industry.

After its series of business triumphs and assembling of a board of investors that includes retired vice chairman at Goldman Sachs, Bob Hurst; top spinal surgeon, Dr. Todd Albert; Katie Rodan and Amnon Rodan of Rodan + Fields, GolfForever became attractive to New York-based Clerisy, a consumer growth equity fund who invested $10 million in the company to help ignite the fitness brand’s next chapter. Primed for continued growth and deeper saturation into the golfing culture, GolfForever is strategizing to become more accessible at more touch points with more advocates from the PGA professional ranks and throughout the industry.
