2025 TRUIST CHAMPIONSHIP

philadelphia cricket club

Philadelphia Hosts a Premier PGA TOUR Event at The Philadelphia Cricket Club

The 2025 Truist Championship, a premier event on the PGA TOUR, is set to take place at The Philadelphia Cricket Club’s Wissahickon Course from May 7 to 11, 2025. This tournament is one of the TOUR’s eight Signature Events, featuring the world’s top golfers competing for elevated FedExCup points and a substantial purse.

Venue Selection:

The Philadelphia Cricket Club

The decision to host the Truist Championship at The Philadelphia Cricket Club stems from scheduling considerations

and the club’s esteemed reputation. Traditionally held at Charlotte’s Quail Hollow Club, the tournament is relocating in 2025 due to Quail Hollow’s preparations for hosting the PGA Championship around the same time. The Wissahickon Course, designed by renowned architect A.W. Tillinghast, is celebrated for its challenging layout and rich history, making it an ideal alternative venue. Tom Sheridan, the club’s president, expressed enthusiasm about hosting the event, noting the palpable energy within the club and the community’s recognition of the tournament’s significance.

Historical Golf Events at The Philadelphia Cricket Club

The Philadelphia Cricket Club has a storied history of hosting significant golf tournaments, including:

2015 PGA Professional National Championship: This event showcased top PGA professionals competing on the club’s renowned courses.

2016 Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championship: A major championship on the PGA TOUR Champions circuit, attracting leading senior golfers.

2020 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball

Championship: Conducted by the United States Golf Association (USGA), this championship featured teams of amateurs competing in a four-ball format.

These events underscore the club’s capability and prestige in hosting tournaments of national significance.

Title Sponsor:

Truist Financial Corporation

Truist Financial Corporation, a Charlotte-based bank with a notable presence in the Philadelphia region, serves as the title sponsor for the championship. Truist secured a seven-year sponsorship deal, reportedly valued at $200 million, following Wells Fargo’s decision not to renew its sponsorship. Despite the inaugural event under Truist’s sponsorship being held outside its home market, the company has expressed confidence in the tournament’s success and alignment with its brand values.

Tournament Purse and Player Participation

As one of the PGA TOUR’s Signature Events, the Truist Championship offers elevated FedExCup points, with 700 points awarded to the winner. While the exact purse for the 2025 tournament has not been specified in the available sources, Signature Events typically feature substantial prize

funds to attract top talent. The tournament is expected to include 70 of the world’s best players, such as Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, and Collin Morikawa.

Ticket Information

General admission tickets for the Truist Championship are available for purchase through the official tournament website. Tickets are dynamically priced based on demand, encouraging early purchase to secure the best rates. Prices start as low as $40, plus taxes and fees. Fans can purchase up to six tickets per day, per account. Additionally, upgraded experiences like the Michelob ULTRA Club offer enhanced viewing options with complimentary beverages and food available for purchase.

Youth and Mastercard®

Preferred Pricing

The tournament offers a family-friendly youth ticket policy: up to two children aged 15 and under can attend for free with a ticketed adult in all open-to-the-public venues throughout the week. Furthermore, Mastercard cardholders can receive preferred pricing on up to four Grounds tickets per day, per account from Thursday to Sunday, while supplies last.

Parking and Transportation

Parking passes must be secured in advance online, with sales to be announced

at a later date. Rideshare services will have designated drop-off and pick-up points at Fort Washington Park, adjacent to the golf course. For more details and to secure parking passes, visit the tournament’s official website.

Economic and Community Impact

The Philadelphia Cricket Club anticipates that the four-day tournament will have a $140 million economic impact on the region. The club has also demonstrated a commitment to supporting local charitable organizations, exemplified by a recent $30,000 donation to the PGA of America REACH Foundation Philadelphia from its Five-Ball for the Four-Ball golf tournament.

The 2025 Truist Championship at The Philadelphia Cricket Club promises to be a landmark event, blending world-class golf with significant community engagement and economic benefits for the Philadelphia region. TSG

True Spec Brings Club Fitting Prowess to Philly’s New Intown Golf Club

True Spec Golf is true to its word.

The burgeoning golf company bills itself as “the premier club fitting experience” and it emphatically delivers just that, combining exceptional customer service, unparalleled attention to detail, and an array of technological tools to match golfers of all ability levels with a club seamlessly suited to their game.

After opening its headquarters in Scottsdale, Ariz. in 2014, True Spec Golf, the global leader in custom club fitting and club building, has expanded to 40 studios across the country. The latest location is a gem inside the recently-unveiled Intown Golf Club, an ultra-sleek indoor golf oasis on Philadelphia’s famed “Main Line.”

A long tee ball from some of Philly’s most celebrated private clubs, Intown is a private golf and social club that features eight bays, a full-service bar and restaurant, men’s and women’s locker room facilities, and an ultra-accommodating staff. The recent addition of True Spec adds to the club’s impressive list of amenities.

“We know that golfers in the Philadelphia area are as passionate as anywhere in the country and we’re thrilled to be providing them with a convenient option to receive one of our world-class club fittings,” said Ryan Richardson, president of True Spec Golf. “Intown Golf Club is an amazing facility and it offers the perfect setting for us to work with our clients.”

True Spec Philadelphia occupies one of Intown’s exquisite bays equipped with Trackman launch monitor technology. Those who intelligently elect True Spec for a

club fitting get a sneak peek of Intown, the latest in True Spec Golf’s arsenal of prominent venues across the country.

Other impressive True Spec Golf facilities include Liberty National Golf Club with the Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty serving as backdrops, True Spec New Jersey at Metedeconk National Golf Club in Jackson Township, N.J., True Spec Miami at Trump National Doral, and True Spec Pine Needles in Southern Pines, N.C.

True Spec Golf’s expertise has been validated by some of the most well-known PGA, LPGA and PGA Tour Champions players around the world. True Spec Golf strives to offer the best possible experience, providing every player with clubs that maximize their potential and performance.

True Spec Philadelphia entices golfers with its brand-agnostic club fitting matrix featuring over 70,000 club head and shaft combinations from every major equipment manufacturer including Titleist, TaylorMade, Callaway, Ping, XXIO, Cobra, Mizuno and many, many more. Visit www. truespecgolf.com for a complete list of True Spec Golf partners.

“I think in general that’s probably one of the big areas of attraction for golfers,” said True Spec Philadelphia Master Fitter Tyler Yearley. “We really hang our hat on the brand agnostic offerings.”

Yearley, who cut his teeth at True Spec Golf locations in Boston and Arizona before jumping at the opportunity to come home to the Philadelphia area, is on site at Intown GC Tuesday through Saturday.

Yearley begins each fitting with an interview, followed by a spec check and blueprint of a golfer’s current clubs. He then selects equipment for testing based on the golfer’s areas of need.

Yearley has a variety of handy tools at his disposal. One which undoubtedly sets

True Spec Golf apart from its competitors, is its Club Conex fitting system, which allows fitters like Yearley to pair any club head with any shaft.

Each club tested provides Yearley with a wide-range of Trackman data points that allow him to narrow the focus and ultimately land on a product specifically tailored to each individual. Yearley concludes with his recommendation, an in-depth email report of all Trackman data gathered during the fitting, and an opportunity to move forward with a club purchase.

Once a golfer gives the green light, each club is custom built at True Spec Golf’s Scottsdale headquarters. Customers can track the status of orders online through truespecgolf.com, allowing them to eagerly await the arrival of a club or clubs sure to make them smile.

True Spec Philadelphia is now open at Intown Golf Club - Philadelphia located at 201 King of Prussia Road, Suite 250, in Radnor, Pa. Fitting sessions range from $125 to $375 for a full bag fitting. To book a custom fitting appointment, golfers can visit https://truespecgolf.com.

True Spec Golf is part of the 8AM Golf family that was established by businessman, philanthropist and golf entrepreneur Howard Milstein as the holding company that oversees his golf businesses — all of which are dedicated to helping golfers at every level enjoy the game more. Renowned entertainer and golf enthusiast Justin Timberlake partnered with 8AM golf in 2020 and is now leading creative initiatives across the 8AM portfolio of companies, which also include GOLF Magazine and GOLF.com, Nicklaus Companies, Miura Golf, GolfLogix and T-Squared Social, a Tiger Woods/Justin Timberlake partnership featuring a dynamic new concept in food, drink and sports entertainment.

Founded 2020 by Gustav Schauman

The Process

Twelve months in the making. A full year of designing, testing, and refining to get this one just right. It started with a sketch, an idea that went through round after round of tweaking before we even saw a real sample.

That’s when the real work began. Fit, comfort, the patterns, the shoe last, every little detail had to be dialed in. We believe that a golf sneaker isn’t just about looking good. It has to move with you, feel right, and perform when it matters.

For us at Goatlane, we never want to rush a design. We want to make something that feels effortless the moment you put it on. Something that works just as well walking up the 18th as it does grabbing a coffee afterward.

We truly believe that this is something you haven’t seen on the golf course before.

Handmade in Europe, Portugal.

JONDO Sunglasses: The Perfect Blend of Style and Performance for Men and Women Golfers, Backed by Ernie Els

When it comes to golf, the right pair of sunglasses can make or break your game. On the course, your vision is everything— from reading subtle breaks on the green to tracking a long drive against a bright blue sky. JONDO, a rising star in the world of golf eyewear, understands that golfers need more than just stylish shades. Their sunglasses are designed to optimize performance, protect vision, and provide comfort without sacrificing aesthetic appeal.

To reinforce its reputation as a highperformance brand, JONDO recently named Ernie Els, the four-time major champion and World Golf Hall of Famer, as its official brand ambassador. Known for his smooth, powerful swing and calm demeanor, Els embodies the precision, consistency, and elegance that JONDO sunglasses offer. His partnership highlights the brand’s commitment to providing serious golfers with eyewear that performs at the highest level.

However, the biggest mistake many golfers make when choosing sunglasses is prioritizing fashion over function. JONDO’s innovative marketing approach, bolstered by Els’ endorsement, aims to educate golfers on why performance-driven eyewear is the true game-changer.

The JONDO Difference: Precision for Every Golfer

JONDO sunglasses are crafted with features specifically tailored to meet the unique demands of both male and female golfers. Their product line includes distinct designs for men and women, each optimized for fit, comfort, and style.

Spectral Filtration Technology

One of JONDO’s standout features is its Spectral Filtration Technology, which enhances visual clarity by filtering specific wavelengths of light.

Improved Contrast: By selectively blocking harsh blue light while enhancing reds, greens, and yellows, JONDO lenses offer better contrast on the course. This makes it easier for golfers to differentiate fairway from rough, read subtle breaks on the green, and track the ball against bright or overcast skies.

Reduced Glare: The filtration technology minimizes reflective glare off bunkers, water hazards, and fairways, helping golfers maintain sharper focus throughout their round.

Precision Depth Perception

JONDO’s lenses are engineered to optimize depth perception, a critical factor for judging distances accurately.

Enhanced Distance Control: With improved depth perception, golfers can better gauge approach shots, judge green speeds, and accurately read putts.

Consistent Visual Acuity: Whether teeing off, hitting from the fairway, or putting, JONDO’s precision lenses help players maintain consistent visual sharpness, reducing misjudgments caused by inconsistent lighting.

Anti-Fatigue Lens Design

JONDO sunglasses are also equipped with Anti-Fatigue Lens Design, which reduces eye strain during prolonged exposure to sunlight.

Longer Focus Endurance: By minimizing visual fatigue, golfers can stay sharp throughout their entire round, preventing late-game mistakes caused by tired or strained eyes.

Comfortable Clarity: The lens design reduces flicker and visual stress, making it easier to keep your eyes relaxed, even during bright and windy conditions.

For Men: Bold and Durable Performance

JONDO’s men’s collection focuses on durability, coverage, and enhanced clarity. Here’s what sets them apart:

Wider Frame Designs: Built for larger face profiles, JONDO’s men’s frames provide full peripheral coverage, reducing glare from multiple angles. This is particularly beneficial

for golfers who spend hours exposed to changing light conditions.

Polarized Precision: JONDO’s highperformance polarized lenses reduce glare without distorting colors—a key factor when tracking a golf ball against the sun or reading subtle green undulations.

Grip and Stability: Many men’s frames include adjustable, non-slip nose pads and rubber temple grips to prevent slippage during swings, ensuring the sunglasses stay put during powerful drives or bunker shots.

UV Protection: JONDO lenses offer 100% UV protection, shielding the eyes from harmful rays and reducing long-term vision strain, especially for players on southern courses with intense sun exposure.

For Women: Sleek, Lightweight, and Stylish

JONDO’s women’s line combines elegant aesthetics with practical golf-specific features:

Contoured Frames: The women’s collection offers slightly smaller, contoured frames designed to fit narrower face shapes without pinching or slipping.

Enhanced Contrast Lenses: JONDO incorporates color-enhancing lens technology to amplify contrast, making it easier for female golfers to spot subtle elevation changes and distinguish fairway from rough.

Featherlight Comfort: Many of the women’s frames are crafted with lightweight yet durable materials, providing allday comfort without pressure points or discomfort.

Fashion-Forward Styles: While JONDO prioritizes performance, their women’s line also embraces contemporary fashion elements, offering elegant colorways and sleek frame shapes that transition seamlessly from the course to social settings.

Her designs effortlessly blend sophistication with functionality, ensuring that women not only play their best but also look and feel incredible while doing so.

A Tribute to Timeless Elegance

Erin’s passion for golf was ignited by her grandmother, born Eileen Bailey, a woman know for her unapologetic wit, subpar golf game and impeccable style.

Growing up, Erin admired the community her grandmother built within the game and the style of the participants. That admiration turned to inspiration, leading her to create women’s apparel that reflect the same timeless beauty.

But this collection isn’t just about aesthetics, they are built to perform, catering to modern golfers who demand both style and substance.

Designed for Performance and Comfort

From the moment you slip into an ERIN BAILEY golf skirt, the difference is undeniable. Each piece is crafted from high-quality, breathable fabric that allows for maximum comfort during long rounds on the course. The material is moisturewicking, ensuring you stay cool and dry,

even on the hottest days. A thoughtful blend of stretch and structure provides the perfect fit—flattering yet non-restrictive, allowing for a full range of motion whether you’re walking the fairways or executing the perfect swing.

A standout feature of these skirts is the built-in shorts, designed to provide just the right amount of coverage without compromising comfort. Many women’s golf skirts fall short in this area, but Erin Bailey has struck the perfect balance, allowing golfers to move with confidence, knowing they are covered in every sense of the word.

Thoughtful Fit for Ladies

One of the defining aspects of ERIN BAILEY clothing is their commitment to proper fit. Golf is a game for women and Erin ensures that her tops and skirts cater to all body types. Available in a wide range of sizes, the skirts, one of which can be adjusted to different lengths, are designed to celebrate every woman’s shape without sacrificing style. The stretch fabric adapts to the wearer’s movement, eliminating the restrictive feeling that can come with some golf attire.

National Golf Foundation Releases 2025

List of the Top 100 Businesses in Golf

NGF initiative recognizes the most successful, influential and prominent companies in the U.S. golf business

The National Golf Foundation has released its latest list of the NGF Top 100 Businesses in Golf, an effort to recognize the most influential, successful, prominent, and innovative companies on the commercial side of the U.S. golf industry.

Included in the biennial NGF Top 100 are companies and brands that deliver products and services primarily targeted to recreational golfers and golf courses, and conduct most of their business in the U.S.

The NGF Top 100 Businesses in Golf is not a ranking, rather more of a who’s-who list across various sectors of an immense industry: equipment, apparel, retail, media, turf maintenance and course supplies, software and consumer technology, developers and builders, management companies, and more.

“Golf is one of the largest participation sports in the country and a lifestyle for tens of millions who play, purchase, travel, and engage with the game in a growing number of ways,”

said NGF President and CEO Greg Nathan. “Our goal in producing the NGF Top 100 Businesses in Golf is to highlight the incredible size and scope of the industry by recognizing those that make golf the greatest game in the world. We want to celebrate many of the brands that are so well-known to golfers, along with a host of other innovative and impactful companies that contribute to a game with an annual economic impact of more than $100 billion in the U.S.”

The Top 100 representatives span a broad spectrum, from Acushnet (a portfolio company of well-known brands such as Titleist and FootJoy) to Yamaha (among several prominent golf car companies recognized). Topgolf Callaway and 8AM Golf are examples of other major portfolio companies with a number of popular brands under their expansive umbrellas.

There are equipment manufacturers, from TaylorMade to PING, apparel and accessory

companies such as adidas and AHEAD, golf retail giant PGA TOUR Superstore, a cuttingedge instruction and club-fitting company in GOLFTEC, many of the game’s biggest management companies such as Troon, KemperSports, and Invited, industry leaders in turf care and irrigation like Toro, John Deere, and Rain Bird, and innovative technology businesses such as Bushnell, Five Iron Golf, and Trackman. Five Iron and GOLF+ are among the group of 14 newcomers on this year’s list.

As in previous editions, the major associations and tours, non-endemic business partners, and event and marketing agencies are recognized separately to keep the focus of the Top 100 Businesses in Golf on companies that sell goods or services geared toward consumers and golf courses.

The full list of the Top 100 golf businesses as well as criteria, FAQ and company profiles for the NGF Golf 100 can be found at NGF.org.

Dave Pelz, Renowned Golf Coach, Innovator, and Author, Dies at 85

Dave Pelz, one of golf’s most influential instructors and innovators, passed away on March 23, 2025, at his home in Dripping Springs, Texas. A former NASA scientist turned golf researcher, Pelz revolutionized how the game is taught, played, and understood, particularly in the critical areas of putting and the short game.

Pelz was among the first to scientifically study golf performance and identify the short game as the primary factor in scoring success. His research led to the discovery that nearly 80% of shots lost to par occur within 100 yards of the hole. This groundbreaking insight became the foundation for his teachings, shifting the focus of golf instruction toward more wedge play and putting.

THE PRO’S PRO

Pelz’s work changed how professionals prepared for competition. His expertise in wedge play helped Phil Mickelson refine his short game, leading to multiple major victories. Other notable players he worked with were Tom Kite, Lee Janzen, D.A. Weibring, Beth Daniel, Steve Elkington, Vijay Singh, Jane Geddes, Payne Stewart, Mike Weir, Patrick Reed, and many, many others. His students collectively won more than 20 major championships.

Born in Indiana and raised in Kentucky, Pelz took up golf early and earned a four-year golf scholarship to Indiana University, where he studied physics and thought he would prepare to play pro golf. However, as he wrote later, “I kept being beaten by other Big Ten golfers… especially a kid from Ohio State named Nicklaus.” He then spent 14 years at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center conducting experiments on the atmosphere of the earth and other planets. But his passion for golf proved too strong and in 1975 he left NASA to focus on analyzing the game, using his scientific background to develop a data-driven approach unlike anything else at the time. His research and teaching made him known on the Tour as “Professor Putt.”

TIRELESS INNOVATOR

Pelz’s creativity led to numerous inventions and training aids, which continue to be used by golfers worldwide.

His Pelz Teacher Putter helped golfers develop a more consistent and repeatable stroke, while the Dave Pelz Putting Tutor became a staple for tour players looking to improve their alignment and roll. In all, he was granted 20 patents related to golf equipment and training.

One of his most significant contributions was the “3X4 Wedge System,” which transformed the way golfers controlled the distance of their wedges improving accuracy and scoring efficiency.

Beyond coaching elite professionals, Pelz was deeply committed to helping everyday golfers. Since the mid-1980s, the Dave Pelz Scoring Game Schools have taught thousands of amateurs throughout the U.S. and around the world.

As an author, he reached millions more with best-selling books such as Putt Like the Pros, Dave Pelz’s Short Game Bible, and Dave Pelz’s Putting Bible. He was on the instruction staff at Golf Magazine for more than 35 years, contributing hundreds of articles. And for 15 years, he hosted The Dave Pelz Scoring Game Show on the Golf Channel.

After scientifically determining the best measures of putting skill, in 1996 Pelz founded the World Putting Championship allowing any pro or amateur to compete for the title of best putter on earth.

NO DREAM WAS TOO BIG FOR PELZ

At his home in Texas, Pelz built his dream, a backyard golf laboratory featuring replicas of famous holes such as Augusta National’s 12th and TPC Sawgrass’s island 17th. This coaching and testing ground allowed him and his Pelz Institute research team to carry on refining his theories and training

techniques even in the final weeks of his life. His dedication to research and innovation leaves a permanent mark on golf and continues to shape how players and coaches think about the scoring game.

Dave Pelz’s legacy is one of passion, precision, and relentless innovation. His impact on the game will continue to be felt for generations as golfers around the world apply his teachings to improve their scoring and strategy. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn, their five children, nine grandchildren, and a grateful golf community.

Travis Pointe Country Club Announces a $6+ Million Clubhouse Renovation and Golf Course Enhancement

Strategic investment will revitalize club’s key touchpoints, broaden membership appeal

Travis Pointe Country Club, the distinguished member-owned private golf and lifestyle club in Ann Arbor with a rich, nearly-half-century history, proudly announces a transformative multi-million renovation project aimed at enhancing its member experience through comprehensive upgrades to the clubhouse and golf course.

This landmark investment reflects the club’s dedication to offering world-class amenities while fostering a vibrant and welcoming club culture for every member of the family. Travis Pointe, former host site of the LPGA’s Volvik Championship, has long been ahead of the curve on cultural and lifestyle trends and responsive to the needs of today’s club members. For example, the club is already home to a well-pedigreed golf course (that has hosted numerous prestigious professional and amateur events), indoor golf simulators, world-class indoor and outdoor racquets and swimming

facilities, and an elevated dining experience under the direction of the award-winning Chef Jason Berthold.

This multi-million-dollar project will set the tone for the next generation of Travis Pointe members who seek an engaging, endearing member culture, top-tier club amenities, and activity programming for every member of the family. In 2027, Travis Pointe will celebrate its 50th anniversary,

with the look, facilities, and energy of a brand-new property.

“We’re thrilled to bring our members, and prospective members from the community, an exciting new chapter in Travis Pointe history with these exceptional renovations and property upgrades,” said

Kori Isaac, General Manager of Travis Pointe Country Club. “What’s exciting is that every project and touchpoint is intentional and on-trend with what today’s private club members want most. Our Board of Directors surveyed the membership to prioritize the scope of the renovations. Travis Pointe is going to be an even more attractive, luxurious ‘second home’ with an inviting elegance that brings pride and excitement to the community.”

A MODERNIZED CLUBHOUSE WITH A REFINED FLAIR

Travis Pointe’s revitalized clubhouse will have an entirely fresh aesthetic with an open design that shows off the new architectural features while transforming the dining room and bar area into an energetic centralized social gathering space. The artful reimagining of the grill room and bar space creates a sophisticated and inviting atmosphere in a centralized hub, ideal for

socializing, special events and post-round celebrating.

Comus Consulting and The Alan Group has been chosen to lead the clubhouse enhancements, which will take place in phases from this year through the spring of 2026, and will include a modern, elegant sense of arrival with its redesigned portecochere and inviting front entrance. The exterior will feature lightened brickwork for a sleek, modern look.

Another improved use of space will be evident with the expansion of covered outdoor dining areas and open-air venues that will allow for elevated alfresco dining experiences and new ways for members to enjoy the clubhouse amenities.

Some of the most striking design enhancements on the Travis Pointe clubhouse effortlessly blend visual appeal with improved function and use of space, like the renovated dining rooms which feature a grand stairway off the back patio for improved access and a dose of wow factor. Refreshed and optimized banquet and event spaces are designed to make large group gatherings refined, memorable and operationally sound.

Travis Pointe is home to thriving tennis, junior golf, and youth swimming programs. The addition of a fifth outdoor tennis court will meet growing demand and make the club a desirable venue for more USTAsanctioned events.

“We are committed to creating a vibrant Travis Pointe community that will thrive for the next 50 years,” said Joe Golden, President of the Board of Directors. “These renovations are a testament to our members’ support and dedication, ensuring a lasting

legacy for future generations. With these enhancements, Travis Pointe, more than ever, will have this gravitational effect where people in the community look at the club as their favorite golf course, favorite place to dine with family and friends and the place they are proud to build lasting memories in for many, many years.”

A BELOVED GOLF COURSE READIES FOR ITS NEXT GENERATION

Travis Pointe members are pleased that this renovation project includes golf course enhancements that aim to improve long-term course conditions, more pleasing sightlines and vistas across holes, playability for all skill levels, and sustainable maintenance practices on the celebrated par 72, 7,326 yard, 18-hole Bill Newcombdesigned layout.

Veteran golf course architect and Travis Pointe member Chris Wilczynski, of C.W. Golf Architecture, creator of

distinguished designs at Esplanade at Azario Lakewood Ranch and Esplanade Golf & CC at Lakewood Ranch (both in Lakewood Ranch, FL), along with Esplanade Golf & CC of Naples (Naples, FL), and Red Hawk Golf Club in East Tawas, MI, will oversee golf course renovations at Travis Pointe. Notably, Wilczynski also led the comprehensive restoration and enhancement of the original Langford & Moreau course at Blythefield Country Club in Belmont, MI in preparation for the 2021 Meijer LPGA Classic.

Wilczynski will implement a plan to realign and improve strategic placement of the course’s bunkers for better shot values and aesthetics and will also revitalize the course’s fairway and greenside bunkers with the advanced Better Billy Bunker lining system. Plans also call for expanding greens and realigning fairways to enhance playability and the course’s overall look.

Ruth’s Chris Steak House Brings Signature Sizzle to Newtown Square with Elegant New Location

Ruth’s Chris Steak House going on their 60th year Anniversary has opened its new location in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, at 3745 Equus Blvd. This elegant establishment will offer an upscale dining experience within its expansive 8,272-square-foot space, accommodating up to 259 guests. The restaurant will feature a main dining area, a bar, and private rooms designed for special events and occasions.

The Newtown Square location will be led by General Manager Michael Krywucki and Chef Adam Irisky. Under their guidance, the restaurant aims to deliver the signature Ruth’s Chris experience, known for its custom-aged USDA Prime steaks served sizzling on 500-degree plates, complemented by an award-winning wine list and handcrafted cocktails. What my colleague and I can attest to is -they are doing just that with a superb staff and our waiter, Henry, who I highly recommend you ask for, started us with mushrooms stuffed with crabmeat that were delicious followed by the outstanding - best ever - calamari that is put in buttermilk for 24 hours that

is just perfectly done and will leave you wanting more. The Lettuce Wedge Salad was chilled to just the right temperature

with bacon, bleu cheese and crisp greens that I would have again. The 11oz Fillets were done to perfection medium rare and I had the one with scallops that added a nice touch. As with any nicely cooked steak, a nice bottle of red wine is the perfect compliment and I highly recommend the bottle of Sea Sun 2022 California Pinot Noir that went down so smoothly.

The interior design of the restaurant reflects a blend of modern elegance and classic comfort, creating an inviting atmosphere for both intimate dinners and larger gatherings. Private dining options are available, catering to events such as business meetings, birthday parties, anniversary celebrations, and wedding receptions. These private rooms are equipped with necessary amenities, including audiovisual technology, to accommodate various event needs.

Ruth’s Chris Steak House has a rich history dating back to 1965 when founder Ruth Fertel purchased a small steak house in New Orleans. Since then, the brand has expanded globally, maintaining a reputation for exceptional food and hospitality. The Newtown Square opening marks a significant addition to the brand’s presence in the Greater Philadelphia area, following the closure of the King of Prussia

“Our founder believed that dining at an upscale steak house should feel approachable for everyone,” said Michael Krywucki, General Manager of the Newtown Square restaurant. “Our team is to welcome guests and introduce Newtown Square to the exceptional service and perfectly sizzling steaks Ruth Chris is known for”.

location in 2020. This new establishment aims to fill that void, offering residents and visitors a premier destination for fine dining.

As with golf pros at country clubs the restaurant business can be as transient, being tapped from a great resume with a company moving and opening new locations. Krywucki is no stranger to that in his 24th year with the company and spending anywhere from 3-6 years in a location coming from Short Hills, NJ to opening the Newtown Square location that shows a belief in a golf pro or a General Manager in the restaurant business, he definitely knows how to work a room with customers and pay attention to details and as a customer that’s what you want to see, someone that cares and he certainly does and in my eyes why this location will be very successful.

Guests can expect a menu featuring the restaurant’s renowned steaks, such as the New York strip and tomahawk rib-eye, alongside a variety of seafood appetizers and other signature dishes. The bar will offer a selection of handcrafted cocktails and an extensive wine list to complement the dining experience.

In addition to the main dining area and bar, the Newtown Square location boasts private event spaces designed to host a range of gatherings. Whether planning a corporate event, a family celebration, or a social gathering, the restaurant’s event planning team is dedicated to providing personalized service to ensure a memorable occasion.

The opening of Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Newtown Square is promising to bring the brand’s signature sizzle and exceptional dining experience to the community. It’s an amazing dining experience and the food was exceptional and what I left out was dessert. I must confess....I did have the Chocolate Sin Cake -leave room -heaven. TSG

BOYNE Golf and The Highlands Awarded USA Today 10BEST

One of North America’s most prominent golf destinations earns high praise from golfers.

BOYNE Golf, one of North America’s largest golf resort destinations, has been recognized by USA Today as No. 1 among the 10BEST Golf Destinations in the U.S. for a golf getaway. In addition, The Highlands was ranked No. 2 in the 10BEST Golf Resort category.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by USA Today 10BEST, alongside some of the best golf destinations in the country,” said Josh Richter, PGA, Senior Vice President of Golf Operations for BOYNE Golf. “To be ranked No. 1 among these great destinations is a testament to our BOYNE Golf teams from golf professionals, agronomy, lodging, and food and beverage who ensure that our guests have the best golf experience when visiting BOYNE

Golf.”

For almost 60 years, BOYNE Golf has been a leader in destination golf – now encompassing 11 courses and three resort properties. Complementing the awardwinning golf product are its premier lodging, the Inn at Bay Harbor, located along the scenic shores of Lake Michigan, the beautiful Mountain Grand Lodge and Chalet Edelweiss at Boyne Mountain, and the Main Lodge at The Highlands, which has been transformed into a high-end boutique hotel reminiscent of an English country estate with Scottish Highlands charm.

“Having The Highlands ranked No.2 among all the great golf resorts in the survey is a credit to the combination

of luxury lodging, great championship golf, and service,” said Mike Chumbler, President and General Manager at The Highlands. “The resort’s significant investment into the Main Lodge renovations, combined with our ongoing golf course renovations, has elevated the guest experience, which contributed greatly to the overall No.1 ranking for BOYNE Golf.”

Now with five courses, The Highlands offers a perfect golf experience. Groups can check into the lodge and never return to their cars during their stay. Coming this summer is a new short course, Doon Brae, that’s located on the backside of The Highlands Main Lodge. The name Doon Brae, where Doon means going down

Bay Harbor Golf Club Links Course

into a valley, and Brae means steep bank or hillside in Scottish, is fitting as the course routing is set along the hillside that doubles as a ski slope during the winter months. Other courses at The Highlands include The Heather course, Arthur Hills course, The Moor, and the Donald Ross Memorial, which is also undergoing course renovations.

BOYNE Golf’s flagship property, situated along the shores of Lake Michigan, is the nationally recognized Inn at Bay Harbor and Bay Harbor Golf Club, a high-end luxury property located on an old limestone quarry and cement factory site. The Bay Harbor Golf Club, designed by Arthur Hills, offers 27 holes with the award-winning Links/Quarry and Preserve courses. It features a unique combination of open links along the Lake Michigan bluffs, holes flowing in and out of a rock quarry, and through the area’s hardwoods. Nearby Crooked Tree Golf Club is carved through stands of centuries-old hardwoods perched on bluffs overlooking Little Traverse Bay.

The third BOYNE Golf property, Boyne Mountain, is located 30 minutes south of The Highlands. The Mountain

features a variety of lodging options, including the Mountain Grand Lodge, condos, and the cool new Chalet Edelweiss located right on the hillside. The two fantastic 18-hole layouts – the Monument and Alpine courses offer outstanding mountainside golf and some of the most spectacular panoramas in the state.

Everett Kircher, who founded Boyne Resorts in 1947 by acquiring 40 acres of land with a modest ski hill for $1, has since become North America’s largest familyowned golf and ski company. A former Michigan state senator said as he accepted $1 from Kircher for the land - “Anybody damn fool enough to want to build a ski hill, well … I’ll give you this property.”

The USA Today 10BEST Golf Destinations and Resorts were carefully curated by a panel of subject matter experts and USA TODAY 10 Best editors before being voted on by the public.

According to USA Today: “Golfers are always ready, if not eager, to check their bags and hop aboard a plane for a round in a beautiful place. And the U.S. is filled with course-rich destinations that beckon golfers to enjoy the sport while surrounded by stunning natural

landscapes, such as these 20 spots that have been nominated by an expert panel as the best golf destinations in the country, Beyond the greens, these locales are brimming with luxurious accommodations, gourmet dining spots, and other outdoor recreation opportunities, making them well-rounded getaway spots.”

USA Today also said about the top resorts: “Golf resorts provide the perfect blend of luxury, relaxation, and sport — all wrapped up in one stunning and convenient spot. These 10 resorts — nominated by an expert panel and voted by readers as the best in the U.S. — have at least one standout 18-hole course, provide top-notch accommodations and amenities, and offer delicious dining options. They also offer a range of other activities so that the non-golfers along for the getaway have plenty to enjoy as well.”

SW Michigan resort destination development that transformed a community adds a new pitch-and-putt experience designed by Colin Montgomerie.

Harbor Shores Resort, the lakeside resort destination with its Jack Nicklaus Signature Design golf course that has been the core of a major economic transformation for the Benton Harbor, Mich. community since 2010, announces its next community amenity. The Wee Course will provide another unique, fun golf attraction at the popular resort where kids will play for free, and youth programming will be a priority.

Hall of Fame golfer and former KitchenAid Senior PGA Champion Colin Montgomerie will design this five-acre, nine-hole pitch-and-putt course adjacent to the cottages along the first hole. The course will consist of holes measuring 60 yards or less in length, modeled after the nine most iconic holes of the current Jack Nicklaus layout.

When Whirlpool initially developed Harbor Shores almost 20 years ago, it was all about creating a catalyst in the Benton Harbor community for economic development, recreation, and tourism. This project is about seeding the future.

“It’s a perfect use of the land,” says Jeff Fettig, former chairman and CEO of Whirlpool Corporation, who is the

visionary behind the Harbor Shores expansion and a leading contributor through the Fettig Family Foundation. “We’ve been talking over the last several years about what other amenities we could add. We percolated the idea, focusing on families, kids, nongolfers, and golfers – wondering what we could do to make this an even more successful magnet for people in our community. This project will fit that need. It will be a fun pitch-and-putt course that anybody can play.”

The Wee Course, which will also be supported through donations from Corewell Health, one of Michigan’s largest non-profit healthcare systems, will target kids, families, and non-golfers.

“We at Corewell Health are thrilled to partner with Harbor Shores, the Whirlpool Foundation, and the Fettig Foundation on this innovative project,” said Soroya Pierre-VanArtsen, President of Corewell Health Foundation Southwest Michigan. “By improving the green space in our community and making golf more accessible to everyone, we are not only enhancing the beauty of our surroundings but also creating opportunities for individuals who may not typically have access to play. This initiative embodies our commitment to fostering a healthier, more inclusive community where everyone can enjoy the benefits of outdoor recreation.”

Serious golfers will also enjoy the new course because it allows them to practice short shots in a unique setting. It’s also about creating a value proposition that complements the Harbor Shores

championship course. This experience is fun, inexpensive, and can be played in an hour. It will be the centerpiece for getting kids and families together, friends socializing, and entertainment. It will be a perfect venue to host events.

“There will also be two different tees so that you can play 18 holes, added Fettig. “It will be lit, too, so guests can play at night. And it’s just something that we think will be attractive to the entire community, and that’s really what we’re trying to do. You can bring a wedge and a putter or just a putter to play a round with.”

Complementing the Wee Course will be an 18-hole putting course inspired by similar attractions at St. Andrews and Pinehurst – replete with lighting, music, and food and beverage to make it a great gathering space for the community.

Joshua Doxtator, General Manager of Harbor Shores Golf Club, sees this latest golf attraction and community development as further enhancing the value of Harbor Shores.

“We’re very excited to create something that will be so much fun and unique while enhancing the value and overall experience for our guests, members, and the community,” he said. “The Wee Course will provide a much more accessible and less-intimidating experience for youth and beginners to learn and play the game but will also be a popular spot for golf guests to hang out and play more into the evening.”

The Wee Links development and putting green will break ground in early 2025 and could see preview play by Fall 2025, with a grand opening in the spring of 2026. The new course is just one of many exciting developments in the community, including an outdoor park along the canal on Riverview Drive and the continued expansion of walking and bike trails.

PENNSYLVANIA GOLF TRAVEL

Nemacolin’s Mystic Rock Course Boasts Elite Tournament Pedigree

A large scoreboard looms off to the left of the green and fairway on the 18th on the Mystic Rock Course at Nemacolin, Pennsylvania’s premier luxury golf resort destination. It serves as a reminder that for a few years some of the best players in the world made their way down that fairway during the 84 Lumber Classic, a PGA Tour event that was played there from 2003 to 2006.

That scoreboard also symbolizes that Mystic Rock, the first Pete Dye golf course to open at Nemacolin in 1995, is at its core, a tournament venue. While the 7,526-yard layout no longer stages a PGA Tour event, it continues to play host to high-level tournaments, including prestigious college and pro events. It’s a course that will test every part of your game, especially your accuracy off the tee. But it also will reward excellent play, with plenty of scoring opportunities.

Looking back on the 84 Lumber Classic (84 Lumber was founded by Nemacolin’s late owner Joseph A. Hardy III), you can tell that this Pete Dyedesigned Mystic Rock was a formidable challenge. In the tournament’s last two years, the winning score was just 14-under par by Jason Gore and 2003 Open Champion Ben Curtis, respectively.

Laid out among rock outcroppings on naturally rolling terrain of lakes, streams, and fescue, Mystic Rock has great flow to it, with a couple of crescendos and a

fantastic finishing stretch. It’s right in front of you, for the most part. And while the length jumps out at you, it’s nothing for today’s scratch and plus handicaps, especially when conditions are firm. For the rest of us, there are four other sets of tees, ranging from 4,848 yards to 6,831 yards, so everyone can compete on it.

Dye, of course, was known for his demanding designs, but he certainly gives golfers a handful of breaks at Mystic Rock. The 409-yard first hole, though, no pushover, eases you in with a wide fairway. Hit that fairway on this dogleg right, and you will have just a wedge into a receptive and relatively flat green.

By the second hole, it already starts to get tougher.

“It’s definitely more challenging from the back tees,” says Director of Golf Operations Chris Anderson of the 473yard, par-4 second. “There’s a lengthy forced carry over a rock ravine or you have to hit into a narrow spot on the left side of the fairway. And it is a tough second shot with a newer green and the bunkers on the left.”

Once you get to the green, it’s not that difficult, because in general, the greens on Mystic Rock, as opposed to the newer course at Nemacolin, Shepherd’s Rock, are less severe. Some of them, however, are multi-tiered, like the one on the next hole, the 231-yard par-3 third. While that seems like a long way — and it is for most players — it is 178 yards for resort guests, which

still poses a challenge, of course.

Speaking of length, the yardages on a couple of the par 5s at Mystic Rock certainly stand out. The fifth is 598 yards from the back tees. And the 11th is 634 yards if you play it from the back, bottom tee (which is not used that often). The dogleg right 11th is a hole that you need to play a few times to get a feel for it. The tee shot is somewhat blind, and there are two large fairway bunkers out to right followed by a lake that runs along the right side after that all the way to the green.

But despite the length of those two holes, the par 5s are definitely scoring opportunities. College players and professionals routinely hit these holes in two shots.

At this year’s Falling Rock Classic at Nemacolin, a Tri-State PGA Section event, back-to-back champion Mike Van Sickle (son of award-winning golf writer Gary Van Sickle) rallied for the win by eagling all four par-5s on Mystic Rock. Anderson believes it might be the first time that feat has been accomplished ever in a sanctioned event in the Pittsburgh area (which would include majors at Oakmont Country Club).

Another point of interest regarding the par 5s is that the fifth has alternate greens — one on the left next to a pond and bunker, and one perched up on the right. They change them on the third and fifth day each week. The right green was not used during the 84 Lumber Classic.

The key to surviving the front nine, perhaps, is getting through the 476-yard par-4 ninth, the no. 1 handicap hole. It is a narrow fairway with a blind second shot. You have to be accurate and long.

The other hole with two greens is the par-3 12th, which plays entirely over water. The two greens used to be one wide green on the 12th, but after the first year of the PGA Tour event, they were separated to make the targets more difficult. The majority of the pin locations are available on the left green, Anderson says. And the right green has rocks, water, and a pot bunker in front of the putting surface. Because it is all carry, both tournament contestants and resort guests can rack up some high numbers on 12 if they wind up re-teeing or dropping on a more forward tee after finding the water.

Anderson’s favorite hole, and perhaps one of the last great chances for birdie, is the 13th. This dogleg right with water on the right side of the approach, is under 400 yards from the tips and features beautiful bunkering in the fairways that really frames the hole.

Once you get to 14 and 15, two par 4s that play over 460 yards, you need to be playing your best. The 16th is a par 5 that is just 525 yards from the back tees. It is gettable in two, of course, but the better

birdie chance for most players is to try to play to a short wedge third shot, Anderson says.

The par-3 17th might be the 16th handicap hole, but when the wind is blowing, it’s anything but easy. With water down the entire left side, a green that slopes to the left, and a bunker right, this 204-yard hole can be particularly intimidating, especially from the tee on the left, which brings the water more into play. Finally, we’re back to the 18th, the

no. 2-handicap hole on the course. The modifications included a series of bunkers down the right side of the fairway and bunkers that guard the green. If you don’t know the hole, you are tempted to hug the right side of the fairway off the tee to set up a shorter approach on this dogleg right. But the fairway slopes right, directing balls on that side into those fairway bunkers, which can set up a difficult approach. The best bet is to aim left toward the scoreboard off the tee.

So, what’s the key to tournament success at Mystic Rock?

“It’s not only finding the fairways, but controlling where you hit it in the fairway,” Anderson says. “Obviously, you don’t have to take the driver out on every hole. If you are spraying the driver, you’re not scoring. There’s too much trouble on the edges.”

By trouble, Anderson means the rough, fescue, fairway bunkers, and of course, penalty areas.

How does Mystic stack up against the rest of the championship courses in the western part of the state? It might not have the history, of course, of Oakmont, but it’s right there,” says Anderson.

“I think we hold up pretty well,” Anderson says. “It’s quiet. You’re in the trees, the mountains, the rocks. There’s a little bit of elevation change, and it’s pretty serene.”

Not a bad spot at all, even if you’re not in contention.

Historic Donald Ross Course Dunedin Golf Club Completes $6 Million Restoration

Iconic Central Florida Muni design gets a complete makeover by Ross expert Kris Spence

Dunedin Golf Club, the historic Donald Ross-designed course owned by the city of Dunedin (just north of Tampa), has completed a $6 million course restoration. The course has been brought back to its Golden Age of Architecture roots through the guidance of Kris Spence, a leading Donald Ross expert.

The course was built in 1926 and opened for play on January 1, 1927, under Dunedin Isles Golf Club. At the time, Ross referred to it as “his masterpiece” and attributed it to its ideal combination of rolling hills, waterways, and other natural hazards that made it possible to achieve his idea of course perfection. In 1939, the city of Dunedin took ownership of the course, and in 2024, it took over the management operations.

In 1944, the PGA of America moved its headquarters here from Chicago and renamed the course PGA National Golf Club – leasing it from the city. Eventually, the PGA moved out, but the site hosted 18 consecutive Senior PGA Championships – as well as the original PGA Merchandise Show in 1954.

Over the years, several renovations took the course further away from what Ross had created. This included the green complexes shrinking 35-to-50

percent, taking away from the strategy Ross intended. In 2014, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Now, thanks to this latest and meticulous restoration of the green complexes, bunkers, fairways, and tees, every golfer can experience the course as Ross intended – right down to the actual greens Ross originally created.

“At Dunedin, the most pleasant surprise was that I could see the old green extending out beneath those renovations and was able to measure them and compare them to his original plans and notes, and I quickly realized that the original greens had never been destroyed,” says Spence. “They were just buried under this material, so the opportunity to remove the material, excavate and expose the original greens, and restore them was possible. It’s fairly rare that they hadn’t bulldozed them away. There’s no question that by the number of bunkers and the contouring we found in the greens, Ross was clearly given a mandate or a directive to build a top-shelf championship layout on that property.”

Spence says the greens’ original contours and elevation changes are back for today’s golfers to experience firsthand. “They’re as good as any out there with

great variety,” he says. “There are some subtle greens on some of the longer holes, and some with a lot more movement, tilt, and complexity to them on some of the shorter holes. It’s what we’re used to seeing out of Ross when he was really on point. In hindsight, it was a blessing that they just buried the greens. It was sort of an archeological dig to go down and find the surface of the old greens and peel off the newer material like we’re peeling the rind off an orange – to reveal that original green. Once we did, we could see the original greens that had been buried for 75 years.”

“Players are going to experience the greens and bunkers how he envisioned it,” continued Spence. “There’s some difficulty and depth to it all, and the bunkers are very challenging. That’s the unique thing about Ross: He brought the style of golf to this country, which he grew up experiencing in Scotland. There are a lot of different shots golfers won’t experience on other courses. The little bump and runs on the ground and the low approaches into the greens you experience in Scotland, you can now experience at Dunedin.”

The response from golfers has been nothing short of spectacular. According to Blair Kline, the course’s General Manager

Hole 8 before/after

of Golf Operations, a lot of that is because of authenticity. “If Ross crawled out of his grave today and saw how far the ball goes and how fast the greens are compared to his era, I do not believe he would design the same course today that he designed in 1926,” says Kline. “Now we have the course that we believe he would design. The routing is still the same; some bunkers changed locations to account for driving distance, and the greens are incredible. We

recaptured all the pin placements, too.”

Dunedin Golf Club is now widely considered one of Florida’s top municipal courses, along with the Winter Park Golf Course in Orlando and The Park at West Palm Beach. Rates for 18 holes range from $85 to $130, depending on the season, and there are discounted green fees for local residents.

“It’s been an overwhelming success, said Kline. “People are going out of their

way to come here and play it. From that respect, it is helping to put Dunedin in front of some people who may not be aware of this community and how great it is. Our rates are very competitive compared to many of the top courses and destination golf resorts in the region, and some of them have already started sending us golfers.”

Falconry Experience And Aerial Adventure Course Open At Sandy Creek Sporting Grounds

New Additions Enhance World-Class Amenities at

Reynolds Lake Oconee has added two exciting new amenities—an aerial adventure course and a falconry experience—to its offerings available at Sandy Creek Sporting Grounds.

The Aerial Adventure course features 24 unique challenges and elements, and allows guests to “choose their own adventure” from beginner, intermediate, and advanced routes. All platforms and ropes are attached to existing trees on the course, which covers 3.75 acres with 6,300 feet of cable. The course was designed by Bonsai Design, a leader in building aerial adventure courses throughout the country.

Access to the Sandy Creek Sporting Grounds and these new activities is available to Platinum Members of Reynolds Lake Oconee and resort guests staying in a cottage or at The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee. Each group is

Reynolds Lake Oconee

accompanied by an experienced guide.

The Falconry Experience is under the direction of Linda Spence, a Master Falconer of birds of prey for over 15 years. Guided by Linda, Members and resort guests can interact with and experience the thrill of handling trained birds of prey, including an Aplomado Falcon, two Harris Hawks, and a Eurasian Eagle Owl. She explains the program as “take a hawk for a walk,” with guests receiving an introduction to the ancient sport of falconry before taking to the trails along the lake at Sandy Creek Sporting Grounds. During the walk, the birds look for prey and do what comes naturally as they hunt for food. Linda will also demonstrate the talents of these birds and their native instincts along the walk.

Both offerings are ideal for meeting groups, team building, family excursions, and other gatherings.

“These new programs take our outdoor amenities to even higher levels,” said Tim Hong, Chief Operating Officer of Reynolds Lake Oconee. “Sandy Creek Sporting

Grounds is already recognized among the finest facilities in the U.S., and with the aerial adventure course and falconry additions, it ascends to world-class status.”

Resort Outfitters, which operates similar experiences at several top-level U.S. resorts, including The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, The Greenbrier, Boar’s Head Resort, Garden of the Gods Resort and Club, and The Omni Homestead, has partnered with Reynolds, and will manage these new amenities.

Sandy Creek Sporting Grounds, which opened in 2017, offers a 20-station sporting clays course designed by Justin Jones, director of the facility, who created the course to bring the traditions and authenticity of his native Britain to this southern destination. Other activities available at the 100-acre sporting grounds include an air rifle range, five- stands, archery, fishing, and off-roading.

The hub of the facility is the historic Sandy Creek Barn, which was built in the early 1800s and relocated from Pennsylvania to Reynolds Lake Oconee in 2007. It also serves as a one-of-a-kind event venue for parties, meeting groups, concerts, and other special events.

GOLF EQUIPMENT

Honma Golf Launches Tour World 767 Collection

TW767 family is a high-level fusion of cutting-edge technology and sophisticated design.

Honma Golf, the leader in beautifully crafted performance golf equipment, proudly announces the T//World 767 collection. The Honma team of engineers and Takumi (Expert Craftsmen) have created this array of models to cater to players of all abilities, ensuring that any golfer can find a perfectly matched set of clubs in the TW767 line.

Honma’s TW767 consists of three expertly crafted drivers, a fairway woods collection, hybrids, and four sets of irons designed to optimize performance benefits.

“As more golfers discover the distinct satisfaction that comes with playing Honma golf clubs, we are extremely pleased to debut the T// World 767 collection,” said Taylor Hull, Sales Director, North America, Honma Golf. “This line truly has something exhilarating for golfers of every skill level with eye-opening performance that will turn heads with unsurpassed feel, distance, and pleasing ball flight characteristics.”

T//World 767 DRIVERS

Honma’s new TW767 driver lineup includes three models with a similar construction framework, yet distinct shapes, weight positions, and clubhead sizes to create a driver line that addresses the ball flight goals and

needs of players of every ability. Each driver’s head adopts a new centerpiece carbon construction called Carbon Roll Technology. The weight saved from the one-piece, middle Carbon Roll Technology has been moved to the back titanium weight, creating the largest MOI in Honma history.

The TW 767 drivers also feature a new face design. Honma Takumi took the characteristics of Beta titanium to create a Vertical Slit Face to reduce energy loss during impact over a wider area, further improving MOI. These new design features maximize strength and spring effect, which results in a high initial ball speed. This head design redefines distance off the tee.

TW767 LS ($700 USD) is a 450cc head, low-spin model with an adjustable sole weight. The TW767 LS driver combines workability and pleasing launch characteristics for accomplished players. By placing the weight closer to the face of the sole to leverage a shallow CG design and suppress spin, the driver delivers increased ball speed and top distance.

TW767 model ($650 USD), features

a 460cc head, Honma’s highest MOI ever, and stunning forgiveness. Its new structure and beta titanium face improve initial ball speed for stable contact with desirable launch and exceptional distance.

The TW767 driver is ideal for players seeking maximum forgiveness, accuracy, and tighter shot dispersion.

TW767 MAX ($650 USD) also features a 460cc head with a high MOI created from the new Carbon Roll Technology. The ample projection area with the larger head and draw bias provides a game improvement aspect that will be a favorite among mid to higher handicaps.

T//World 767 FAIRWAYS AND HYBRIDS The TW767 fairway woods and hybrids are classically shaped clubs with breakthrough design technology for optimal forgiveness, ideal trajectory and more carry. All models feature a multimaterial construction, an internal weight in the sole, high launch, low-center-ofgravity design, and a SUS630 stainless steel body.

The TW767 Fairway Woods ($350 USD) feature a large shallow footprint and highly stable head shape. The sole has been completely revised, resulting in an evolved head with high stability. The synergistic effect with the 13gram tungsten back weight produces a high trajectory and longer carry. In the lower-lofted models, the TW767 3-Wood features a carbon crown to save weight and to generate higher launch conditions. A cup face design in the 3W, 3HL, 5W, 3U, and 4U also helps increase initial ball speed.

The TW767 Hybrid ($325 USD) features a large head shape, providing a sense of security, and is easy to hit from a variety of lies. The sole shape has been completely revised to further improve stability. The synergistic effect with the back weight allows players to

aim accurately at the pin with a high trajectory.

T//World 767 IRONS

Versatility and finely tuned feel are the earmarks of the new TW767 iron line. Each iron set in this innovative family is built to deliver soft feel, a pleasing look at address, playability, and consistently soaring ball flight. Four different iron set models provide players of any skill level a choice to fit their ball-striking goals with tremendous feel, workability, and distance.

The TW767 TOUR V players’ iron features a compact, beautiful shape with excellent controllability. The one-piece iron, forged from soft S20C carbon steel, provides more precision and premium for advanced players. Honma’s Takumi meticulously shaped the sole for muchimproved turf interaction. Honma engineers increased the thickness of the face behind the sweet spot to create a premium feel at impact, offering a bladeiron feel in a playable cavity back design. Honma’s Tour V irons retail for $1,050

(5 – PW, 4-iron is available as individual iron) with steel shafts.

The TW767 Vx players’ iron has been enhanced to generate superior distance and more forgiveness. Forged from the softest premium S20C carbon steel, a revamped cavity design is thickened, resulting in a premium feel demanded by discerning players. A seven-gram tungsten weight (in the 4- through 8-iron) measurably placed in the toe improves straightness and promotes a low center of gravity, enabling high trajectory. The tungsten toe weight pulls the CG towards the toe (4 - 8 iron) for increased center of gravity, better distance, and improved MOI. Optimal heel and toe weighting inside the cavity reduces energy loss on off-center hits and generates high launch with optimal spin and exquisite feel. This versatile iron set retails for $875 (6 – PW; 4-iron, 5-iron, and AW are available as individual irons) with Modus Tour 105 shafts.

The TW767 Px iron is a fresh design in the TW series and features Honma’s proven Pocket Cavity with a

single-bodied badge to create a new Cap Back design. A player’s distance iron, it achieves a comfortable feel while improving face rigidity. It sports an L-Cup face (5 - 8 iron) and Honma’s unique uneven radial face thickness, enhancing ball speed for more distance. The elegant new shape and construction combine for an ideal high launch trajectory. It retails for $875 (6 – PW; 5-iron and AW are available as individual irons) in N.S. Pro950 neo shafts.

The TW767 Hx is the latest in gameimprovement iron technology. These irons feature a hollow iron construction with a traditional shape and excellent performance. The maraging face produces maximum initial velocity at impact, and the weight screws and internal weights work together to achieve stable distance and trajectory – even on mishits. The Hx iron retails for $1,050 (6 – PW; 5-iron and AW are available as individual irons) in N.S. Pro950 neo shafts.

Vita: Philadelphia’s Hidden Italian Gem Behind the Red Door

The once only Gelato shop is now also a reservation-only Italian romantic dining experience behind The Red Door in the gelato shop that transcends you back to Italy.

Nestled in the heart of Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse Square, Vita presents a unique fusion of Italian culinary delights, seamlessly blending a gelateria, coffee shop, and an intimate style restaurant. This innovative concept is the brainchild of husband-and-wife duo, Massimo and Ana Boni, who have transformed a modest gelato shop that you walk into without realizing a behind The Red Door that looks like a refrigerator is a multifaceted dining destination.

A Sweet Beginning

In the fall of 2023, the husband and wife duo introduced Vita as a cozy 375-squarefoot gelateria located at 261 S. 17th Street. The shop quickly gained attention for its authentic, house-made gelato crafted under the expertise of gelato master Daniel Addice. The gelateria’s inviting ambiance and delectable offerings laid the foundation for what would soon become a more expansive culinary venture. I was looking forward to this as was my colleague and what I can tell you the pistachio and chocolate gelato didn’t disappoint that transported you back to Italy.

The Secret Behind the Red Door

At first glance, visitors to Vita might notice a striking Ferrari-red refrigerator door positioned at the rear of the gelato shop. This eye-catching feature is more than just decor; it serves as the clandestine entrance to Vita’s hidden Italian restaurant. Upon stepping through this unassuming portal, guests are transported into a spacious 125-seat dining area that includes a main dining room, a private dining space for special occasions and events , a bar, and an enchanting outdoor patio adorned with string lights and lush greenery. It has a romantic vibe and a staff that is second to none handling all your details from the moment you sit down and guiding you through the menu and recommendations from the tasty appetizers. I had the Arancini which were different from your current rice filled ones

that I found so much more with the sauce and cheese on the inside. My colleague enjoyed the handmade Straccciatella with prosciutto, figs, walnuts, and basil that were outstanding.

Culinary Delights Await

Under the culinary direction of Venezuelan-born Executive Chef Juan Urdaneta, Vita’s restaurant offers a menu that pays homage to classic Italian cuisine while infusing contemporary flair. Chef Urdaneta, who previously helmed Flora, an Italian restaurant in Bogotá, Colombia, brings a wealth of experience and creativity to the kitchen.

The menu features an array of starters priced between $11 and $21, including a mustard green spicy caesar salad, Nonna’s meatballs enriched with pine nuts and raisins, and arancini crafted from red wine risotto. House-made pasta dishes, ranging from $23 to $35 showcase traditional favorites like the Scampi Risotto with shrimp that I would order again and again or the Tagliatella Ragu Bolognese that I would highly recommend also, along with the grilled carrots that were perfection. For main courses, guests can also enjoy Primavera Verde, Cappelletti Genovese, Rigatoni Alla Vodka or Balanzoni.

Complementing the culinary offerings is a thoughtfully curated beverage program featuring an all-Italian wine list, classic and innovative cocktails, and spiked sorbetto and gelato concoctions that seamlessly bridge the gap between the gelateria and the restaurant.

Design and Ambiance

The Bonis have meticulously designed the restaurant to evoke a warm and inviting atmosphere. The interior features rich wood and tile work, contemporary color

palettes, and playful cherub motifs that add a touch of whimsy. Personal touches abound, from the handwritten logo and menu headers crafted by Massimo to a wall adorned with golden trays sourced from his late mother’s store in King of Prussia, serving as a heartfelt tribute.

The Visionaries Behind Vita Massimo and Ana Boni, both 30, bring a dynamic blend of backgrounds to their venture. Massimo, Italian-born and raised in Radnor, Pennsylvania, previously worked as an engineer and construction manager in New York City. His experience overseeing highprofile projects, such as the build-out of Estiatorio Milos at Hudson Yards, ignited his passion for the hospitality industry. Ana, Venezuelan-born and raised in Miami, balances her role at Vita with a full-time career, contributing her expertise as the events manager

and providing invaluable support on weekends.

The couple’s journey to establish Vita was marked by perseverance and determination. After facing numerous challenges in securing financing— enduring rejections and other issues that come with opening a restaurant —they finally obtained the necessary loan to bring their vision to life. Their collaborative efforts, combined with a dedicated team, have culminated in a space that embodies their shared passion for Italian culture and cuisine.

An Invitation to Discover

Vita operates on a reservationonly basis, ensuring an intimate and personalized dining experience. Reservations can be made via Resy, with booking availability opening on the first of each month for the following month’s slots. The restaurant’s hours are

Wednesday and Thursday from 5-10pm and Friday and Saturday from 5 to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m.

The gelateria maintains its hours from Tuesday to Sunday, opening at noon.

Vita stands as a testament to the Bonis’ amazing dedication to creating a multifaceted space where guests can savor the essence of Italian culinary traditions, from sweet gelato to savory dishes, all hidden behind a secret red door waiting to be discovered. I would highly suggest a reservation here and I plan on being back. TSG

BOYNE GOLF Partners with Noteefy Automated Tee Time Demand System

Leading “Concierge” booking experience will impact all 11 courses at the Northern Michigan resort destination.

Petoskey, Mich. – BOYNE Golf, one of America’s premier golf resort destinations, has partnered with Noteefy, the first-of-itskind automated tee time demand system. Eleven golf courses across the BOYNE golf portfolio will be impacted, making it easy for golfers to play where and when they want.

BOYNE Golf will integrate the Noteefy waitlist software into its website for booking tee times at Bay Harbor Golf Club (three courses), The Highlands (five courses), including the new Doon Brae short course, Boyne Mountain (two courses), and Crooked Tree Golf Club.

“BOYNE Golf is in the business of creating fun experiences, and if the booking process is hard, the level of fun is diminished before golfers even arrive on property,” said Josh Richter, Senior Vice

President of Golf Operations at Boyne Resorts. “Like OpenTable and Resy in the restaurant world, Noteefy is the concierge that does the work for golfers instead of forcing them to call the pro shop or refresh their screens for tee time openings.”

Golfers simply input their desired tee times and receive real-time text and e-mail alerts when they open due to cancellations or new releases, subsequently booking tee times per the normal process. They can select multiple courses within the BOYNE Golf collection to increase their probability of a match by joining the standby list. Golfers do not pay additional fees for this service.

“BOYNE Golf consistently provides world-class hospitality,” said Jake Gordon, Founder and CEO of Noteefy. “While Noteefy plays a key role elevating the guest

journey, we also generate meaningful revenue for BOYNE Golf by prompting greater demand for re-booking of cancelled tee times that otherwise would’ve gone unfilled.”

BOYNE Golf joins Black Desert Resort, Cabot Citrus Farms, Destination Kohler (Whistling Straits), Sand Valley, Streamsong Resort, The Sea Pines Resort and other famous destinations leveraging Noteefy. Eight of the top 10 multi-course operators, as well as boutique operators and singlecourse owners, rely on Noteefy to drive revenue and enhance experiences.

Research shows more than 20% of tee times are cancelled and not re-booked, leading to an average of $50,000 in lost revenue annually. It is common for Noteefy to directly drive six-figure topline gains to golf courses and resorts.

TRUE linkswear Welcomes PGA TOUR Player Andrew Putnam as its newest TRUE Ambassador

Washington native PGA TOUR winner to wear TRUE footwear and apparel in tournaments

TRUE linkswear (TRUE), creator of ultra-comfortable, modern golf footwear designed for walking on and off the course, proudly names PGA TOUR player Andrew Putnam the newest TRUE brand ambassador. A native of Tacoma, Washington – where TRUE makes its headquarters – and a one-time winner on the PGA TOUR, Putnam is a natural choice to partner with the growing footwear and apparel brand.

A three-time All-American at Pepperdine, Putnam turned professional in 2011 and has won twice on the Korn Ferry Tour (2014 WNB Golf Classic, 2017 Panama Claro Championship) and at the PGA TOUR’s 2018 Barracuda Championship. The 36-year-old pro currently ranks 145th in the Official World Golf Rankings and finished 83rd in last season’s FedEx Cup Standings.

“Joining Team TRUE just felt like the perfect fit for me. Being from the Pacific Northwest, I’ve always admired how TRUE embraces comfort, performance, and a connection to the game that aligns with my approach to golf,” Putnam said. “Whether I’m competing on Tour or enjoying a casual round, I know I can rely on TRUE to keep me grounded and focused. I’m excited to represent a brand that truly values the walking golfer and puts innovation and quality at the forefront.”

Putnam recorded two top-10 finishes and seven top-25 finishes last season while collecting $2,054,544 in tournament earnings and surpassing the $15 million mark in career earnings. During the 2014-2015, Putnam and his brother Michael were the only siblings with playing privileges on the PGA TOUR.

“Andrew Putnam is undoubtedly the premier professional player from the Pacific Northwest, and we’re honored to have him join Team TRUE,” said TRUE Co-Founder and CEO Jason Moore. “More than just our local hero competing at the highest level on the world stage, Andrew has been a friend since childhood and his character, on and beyond the course, is rivaled by few. He’s a great example of what it means to live TRUE.”

Putnam’s fellow TRUE PGA TOUR Brand Ambassadors Joel Dahmen, Chris Kirk, Mark Hubbard, Taylor Montgomery, Oliver Wilson, Dylan Wu, company CoFounder Ryan Moore and LPGA players Christina Kim, Madelene Sagstrom, and Sophia Popov.

Earlier in 2025, TRUE announced that it will release an exciting array of breakthrough golf footwear offerings, including the first two spiked models since the company relaunched in 2017, the LUX2 Player and the LUX2 Maven. The newest elevation of TRUE’s classic zero drop model, called the OG3 PRO, will also be released in 2025 along with a diverse lineup of golf shoes designed for performance, style, sustainability, and comfort with a modern, minimalist aesthetic.

TRUE is more than a shoe company; its genuine commitment is growing the brand within a community of golfers (newcomers to professionals) who embrace the shared pursuit of enjoying the walk. Each design is inspired by nature and designed to naturally enhance your body’s comfort and performance.

Embracing deep Pacific Northwest roots, TRUE footwear and apparel are engineered to hold up to the great outdoors. The brand’s technical performance gear is built to keep you outside, no matter the weather. TRUE crafts sustainably sourced, high-quality, long-lasting materials and works with ethical manufacturing partners that uphold high standards of humanity.

All TRUE footwear, wardrobe staples, gear, and accessories should be as versatile as one’s active lifestyle and so comfortable, they will want to wear them anywhere.

BOYNE Golf’s Doon Brae and Back Yaird to Open Summer 2025

Short course and Himalayan-style putting course highlight the reimagination with new golf attractions at The Highlands and Michigan’s Magnificent 11

BOYNE Golf, one of North America’s largest golf resort destinations located in Northern Michigan, announces its new par-3 short course Doon Brae, and the Back Yaird, a Himalayan-style putting course, will open in the summer of 2025. Located behind The Highlands Main Lodge, the new short course will be BOYNE Golf’s 11th golf course, now becoming Michigan’s Magnificent 11.

Doon Brae, which is now accepting tee times in advance of its opening, will be the perfect add-on to any golf and resort package. The name, Doon meaning going down into a valley, and Brae, meaning steep bank or hillside in Scottish, is fitting as the routing of the course is on the site of the former Cuff Links nine-hole par-3 course set along the hillside that doubles as a ski

slope during the winter months.

“As far as I know, this is the first modern golf course ever built on a ski hill,” said Bernie Friedrich, Director of Golf Course Renovations and Development at Boyne Resorts. “The combination of small greens inspired by some of the great green templates from overseas with sodfaced bunkers and tight mowing patterns will be a fun, perfect add-on to the daily golf itinerary. It also provides a wonderful option for families, kids, and beginners to try golf for the first time.”

Complementing the new par-3 short course is the Back Yaird (Scottish word for yard), a 1.5-acre 27-hole putting course featuring three nine-hole combinations. Inspired by great putting courses like the Himalayas at St. Andrews and Thistle Du

at Pinehurst, this exciting golf experience features a variety of slopes and swales, providing endless excitement for golfers of all abilities, families, and kids. The location, just off the Slopeside Patio of The Highlands, will be convenient for lodge guests.

“Adding the Back Yaird putting experience creates the perfect combination for a fun golf experience for everyone,” continued Friedrich. “Having experienced some of the top resorts in the country with their short courses and putting courses they have created for guests, it is exciting to bring that type of golf entertainment for our BOYNE guests.”

Golf course architect Ray Hearn was selected to design the leading golf destination’s latest golf attractions. Hearn,

a Michigan native, was the perfect choice, as he has been working closely with the BOYNE Golf team, modernizing and renovating many of the resort’s golf courses over the past several years.

Although Doon Brae is routed on a ski hill, Hearn focused on minimizing the walking uphill. The course, which measures between 993 yards and 678 yards, will feature a variety of fun yardages with downhill, flat, uphill, and sidehill lies, generally moving horizontally back and forth across the slope. Holes range from 57 yards to 134 yards, providing multiple angles and fairway options, with shorterlength holes having fewer bunkers on the path toward the greens, while longer holes provide more strategic angles with bunkers more in play.

“I wanted to make sure we were creating something fun and unique without

being a difficult walk,” explained Hearn. “We also considered all the families taking their kids out to play the short course and then the putting course. Every time I visited Scotland with friends, I was always inspired by The Himalayas at St. Andrews. We just kept playing it over and over and never got bored. The Back Yaird will provide that kind of experience.”

Hearn’s favorite part of the project was the creatively designed green complexes. “Drawing on our inspiration from the British Isles allowed us to create scaleddown versions of famous template greens highlighted by The Short at National Golf Links, a favorite of Stephen’s,” he said. “Other inspirations include Eden, Punch Bowl, Redan, Reverse Redan, Whinny Brae, Steep Slope, Postage Stamp, and Biarritz.”

Doon Brae and the Back Yaird putting course is the perfect addition to the

continued reimagination of The Highlands that has been ongoing for the past few years, with new lodge rooms, renovations, and future amenities being planned.

“We are so excited about how this area has been reimagined and how the guests are going to enjoy the uniqueness, character, and atmosphere around Doon Brae and the Back Yaird,” said Josh Richter, Senior Vice President of Golf Operations for Boyne Resorts. “Add in the lights, music, fire pits, and food service; it will be a wonderful gathering space for golfers and families to hang out well into the evenings, creating a new energy level at The Highlands and fond golfing memories. It will be a great golf entertainment venue.”

Effortless Golf Mobility: The EVO II Remote Control Batcaddy Redefines Walking the Course

In a world where golfers are increasingly embracing the health benefits and immersive experience of walking the course, the EVO II Remote Control Batcaddy emerges as a game-changing companion. Lightweight, compact, and packed with advanced technology, the EVO II is engineered for the modern golfer who demands convenience, performance, and reliability—without sacrificing the joy of the walk.

Weighing in at under 24 pounds, the EVO II is one of the most portable remotecontrolled golf caddies on the market. Its sleek aluminum frame offers exceptional strength without adding bulk, making it incredibly easy to lift in and out of a car trunk or SUV. For golfers who like to play often and travel light, this design solves the common problem of bulky, hard-tomanage push carts. The quick two-step folding mechanism makes setup and breakdown seamless, taking less than 30 seconds from trunk to tee box.

But what truly sets the EVO II apart is its cutting-edge remote control technology. With a responsive long-range remote, golfers can guide the caddy effortlessly up to 120 yards away in any direction. The multi-directional capabilities—including forward, reverse, left, and right—allow for intuitive maneuvering, whether on flat fairways or navigating hilly terrain. The remote also features adjustable speed controls and an emergency stop function for added safety.

Another major win for the EVO II is its dual-motor design, which provides powerful propulsion and stability. This allows the unit to maintain balance and smooth operation even on uneven or sloped ground. Combined with the durable all-terrain wheels, golfers can trust the EVO II to handle a variety of course conditions with ease. The caddy also includes a downhill speed control system, which automatically regulates speed on descents—no runaway carts here.

Powering the EVO II is a lightweight Advanced Technology Lithium battery that can last up to 36 holes on a single charge. Not only does this offer all-day performance, but it also eliminates the need to carry backup batteries or deal with frequent charging. The battery is easily removable and charges fully in just a few hours, ready for your next round in no time.

Design-wise, the EVO II also pays attention to the little things. From a USB port for phone charging to adjustable bag supports that accommodate all bag types, it’s a smart blend of thoughtful features and golfer-centric engineering. Whether you’re a weekend player or a competitive amateur, these touches elevate the walking experience and help you stay focused on your game.

In short, the EVO II Remote Control Batcaddy is more than just a motorized golf cart—it’s a personal caddie with brains and brawn. Lightweight enough for easy transport, advanced enough for handsfree operation, and durable enough for real-world golf conditions, it’s a must-have for players who want more freedom and less hassle on the course. Walking golf has never felt so effortless. TSG batcaddy.com @batcaddy

FLORIDA GOLF TRAVEL

Soleta Golf Club Debuts In Southwest Florida

Nick Price Design Adds to Vibrant Sarasota Golf Scene

Soleta Golf Club, a 7,400-yard, Par 72 layout, designed by World Golf Hall od Fame member Nick Price, has opened adding to the embarrassment of golf riches in the Sarasota area. In addition to the golf course, a world class 30-acre practice facility designed by world famous instructor David Leadbetter has been built.

The property does have a housing component but unlike most Florida golf communities, Soleta will only have 93 homesites within the 520 acre property and houses will be completely separate from the golf course. Lot sizes are generous by Florida standards at ¼ acre to a full acre with the average house square footage of 4,000 costing an estimated $3 million.

Price was inspired by the rural, natural, riverside features of the land. Running adjacent to the Myakka River, classified by the State of Florida as a forever Wild and Natural River, “We’ve laid out the golf course to take advantage and incorporate those natural features into the design of holes”, he said.

According to Price, the course has an open feel featuring sand, native areas and many specimen trees that plays firm, fast and close to the ground. The green sizes

are ample with reasonable contours while giving different looks to approach shots. The fairways are fairly generous while being flanked by native sandy areas similar to some of the courses around Pinehurst in the North Carolina Sand Belt region which will put a premium on keeping the tee ball in the fairway.

Unlike many other “celebrity” golf course designers who developers use for promotional purposes only, Price is a legitimate hands on architect. His worldwide Hall of Fame playing career brought him from South Africa to Europe to South Africa and gave him a perspective on golf course design that few have ever had.

Prior to going out on his own and forming Nick Price Golf Course design, Price collaborated with several architects including Tom Fazio. Notable projects include The Members Club at Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach, SC, Quail Valley in Vero Beach, FL and his home course in Hobe Sound, Fl, The McArthur Club.

David Leadbetter, an Englishman, was a fine player in his younger days competing on the European and South African Tours but eventually realized his interest and future in the game was teaching the

intricacies of the golf swing.

He became the go-to teacher for world class players who wanted to reach the top of the world order. He took on a couple players who had some success but stalled in their advancement including one Nick Price. Price hit a dry spell and turned to Leadbetter in order to craft a swing reliable enough to hold up under the intense pressure of major championship golf. By 1991 the hard work started to pay off- he won the Byron Nelson in Texas and the Canadian Open. Then the floodgates opened- He won the PGA Championship in 1992. In 1993 he won four PGA TOUR events including The Players to cop Tour Player of the year then topped that in 1994 by winning six times including the Open Championship and the PGA Championship again.

Leadbetter again worked with Price to create a 30 acre world class teaching and practice facility at Soleta. It includes a double sided driving range, short game pitching area, practice bunkers, target greens, putting green and a spa, fitness and performance center.

Soleta will have it all for those fortunate enough to experience what it has to offer. TSG

Find The Best-Fitting Ball for Your Game with This New App

Imagine a mobile phone app that could instantly identify the single-best golf ball model based on your unique swing. You’d be all over it, right? Well, the future has arrived. Compatible with both iOS and Android devices, ScanMyGolfBall can quickly scan and identify the proper golf ball for anyone’s game. Rather than collecting personal shot data about you, the brand-agnostic app collects golf swing information through a series of interactive questions and then matches you to a ball that best fits your game.

“It’s a convenient and easy-to-use ball fitting tool,” says app and company founder Tim Chase, who is the founder and CEO of SMGB Technologies in Melbourne, Fla. “Based on those questions, the app will recommend the best-fitting ball for you, or a series of balls. You can also scan any golf ball through your phone’s camera, and the app will tell you how well that ball fits you based on the profile you’ve created.”

The ScanMyGolfBall app questions you about swing speed, flight path tendencies, general trajectory, short-game spin, and more. Based on those answers, the app builds a profile and ultimately recommends specific golf ball models. Plus, you can instantly scan any ball to see how well that model fits your game.

Like millions of avid golfers, Chase was blindly playing a popular ball from a leading manufacturer for a long time. After reading up about it, he realized it was a misfit for his game. He switched to a softer compression ball and immediately added 20 yards. “I had a slower swing speed and couldn’t generate enough clubhead speed to compress the ball I was playing,” he says. “And that’s what gave me the idea for this app – especially because I was playing in a men’s league and there were older gentlemen out there playing the forward tees, hitting it 180 yards off the tee, yet also playing a ball that’s better fit for a pro. As I studied this more, I realized most golfers don’t really understand golf balls, the concept of low-spin and high-spin balls, the difference a cover makes, compression, etc. So, I set out to develop this app that

makes everything very simple. By using the right ball, most people will get more distance off the tee and more accuracy. The app is a great tool for golfers.”

The ScanMyGolfBall app, which already has a database of 500+ ball models both new and old, goes beyond simple identification. It scans and processes ball cover type, layer count, compression, spin rate, feel and dimple patterns. The app will soon be able to analyze and assess golf ball damage and determine its fit for use through a three-image scanning process.

ScanMyGolfBall app user database, which already has thousands of golf ball fitting data, seeing some exciting trends in the collected data. Currently, the five most scanned manufacturers are Titleist ProV1, Titleist ProV1x, Callaway Supersoft, Callaway Chrome Soft, and Callaway Superhot.

balls include Callaway ERC Soft (mid compression, low spin, budget-friendly ball), Srixon Soft Feel (low compression, low spin, budget-friendly), Titleist ProV1 (high compression, high spin, premium price), Maxfli Tour X (high compression, high spin, less expensive than premium), and Taylormade Tour Response (mid compression, high spin, moderate price).

growing the number of app downloads and continuing to match golfers to new golf balls when they are released. “Being able to connect anytime with our fast-growing database and impacting the thousands of golfers in our system who benefit from having a properly fit golf ball is exciting,” he says. “We can send push notifications directly through the app to golfers, letting them know as new ball

models become available. From there, we have the technology to create codes that could be directed to golf retailers or even specific brand websites.

ScanMyGolfBall has recently partnered with Golfballs.com, one of the top retailers for golf balls. When users complete the Ball Fitting Tool, the app will provide three recommended balls, each with a one-tap direct purchase link to golfballs.com.

“Sure, there are other services like ours online – but most are not brand-agnostic and free. I consider this to be like a fiduciary of golf balls, in that we’re looking

Whether it’s a dewy morning fairway or a dry, firm surface, the cleat configuration ensures optimal traction, allowing for a more stable and controlled swing. The outsole also incorporates flexible zones, offering a combination of stability and agility that golfers need when making quick pivots and smooth follow-throughs.

Style is not sacrificed for performance with the Men’s PMX Nitro Golf Shoes. The shoes boast a sleek, athletic design with breathable, water-resistant uppers that help golfers stay dry in all conditions. The overall aesthetic is modern and clean, making the shoes versatile enough to transition from the course to casual settings without missing a beat. Available in neutral tones with subtle accents, they complement a wide range of golf apparel.

Fit and comfort are prioritized in the design. Payntr integrates a secure lacing system and a molded collar that hugs the ankle, preventing slippage and enhancing overall support. These features are ideal for golfers who want a snug, personalized fit without sacrificing flexibility.

In summary, the Men’s PMX Nitro Golf Shoes by Payntr Golf offer an excellent balance of style, comfort, and cutting-edge performance technology. Golfers of all skill levels will appreciate the comfort, stability, and grip these shoes provide, helping to enhance their game while keeping their feet comfortable throughout the round. What I can tell you is not only do I wear them while playing golf, but everywhere I go, they are that comfortable!
