Recreating the interaction between khmer culture and the water element.

Series of shadows and plantation mimic the depth and the sensation of going into the jungle

The close interaction with nature and the soil brings the occupants to the secluded space of comfort

Farming has been the core of Cambodia’s family for a long time. Unifying vertical farming, natural landscape and khmer lifestyle together would be one method to express modernized khmer culture.

Inviting nature to the space, recreate the family relationship in a traditional lifestyle while adapting in the new context

In a tropical climate, extra protection is needed when the green element is right on the facade, as there are bugs or unpleasent insects.
The detail of the facade solve the problem of protection, privacy, and interactive green.

Stationery
_ Interaction with green
_ The levers allow to block or open views and sunlight
_ Mesh layer protect the bugs
_ Sliding glass open for ventilation when needed

_ All pieces are slidable and the lever layers are customizable allowing the facade to take on a variety configuration

Pivoting
_ The exterior green can be pivoted individually for maintainance
The different arragement of the composition of the facade allows it to have a changing character. And its unorganized arrangement mimic non-systematic order that exist in the nature.

From the urban scale, the open ground floor, accompanied with the water canals as well as the greeen element would help cool down the space as well.

Meanwhile, the seasonal changing landscape would also collect rainwater in a form of rain garden and, recycle it to another purpose as well. This requires M&E at the underground floor.

WOOD
Being one of the favorite material in khmer tradition, Dark wood also give reference to natural sensation while the texture of it casts the illusion of depth which makes it perfect for mimicking the jungle.
Cambodia is a country rich in wood, but the use of the wood cannot be neglected. There are 3 ways to use it properly in this design.

_Painted texture on steel : used on the frame of the facade
_Wood texture flooring : Along the corridor where wood is meant to be used for aesthetic _Natural wood: when sensation of wood and heat is important eg, relaxing area, living room.

Pebbles
Used as alternative to natural soil to keep the area clean and protected from bugs while still giving the sense of the natural element.

MATERIAL
The facade’s detail allow the green element to filter out the heat radiating from the sun. Meanwhile most unit has water element inside as well which also naturally, cool down the space.

With the facade detail and the use of the levers, the openness of the space is possible in almost every part of the unit. However, as the tower is close to one another, some space in between becomes dull. The proposed structure helps ventilate the wind to from the ground across the tower and shade the unit below it.

In addition to the proposed structure for ventilation, the solar panel can be added later on to get electrical energy from the sunlight. This structure will be optional to users because the tower are close to one another, and if the sturcture is used in every unit, there might be spaces where the sunlight could not reach.
