IMMERSION
The resort offered fitness classes, sound bath meditations, farm-to-table dining experiences, workshops and more, led by the resort’s practitioners and instructors. The wellness offerings were designed around the Global Wellness Day theme of reconnection. Guests took part in a beach clean up initiative to play a part in the resort’s efforts to maintain a healthy ecosystem and stay connected to nature.
A meditative breath-holding workshop took place before a 30-minute guided snorkel around the resort’s coral reef.
Jumeirah's Talise Spas offer conscious living activities
At Jumeirah, wellbeing is not just a one-off spa treatment, it’s part of our culture

Jumeirah invited guests at its 15 destinations around the world to take part in immersive wellness experiences for Global Wellness Day. The hotel operator – a member of Dubai Holding – celebrated the day with a range of activities that align with the philosophy of its Talise Spa concept, to connect with the self, with others and the planet. Celebrations in the UAE included sunrise yoga, gut-mind education sessions and marine conservation activities at the Dubai Turtle Rehabilitation Project.
Later in the week a yoga class with a focus on laughter gave guests a chance to release stress and boost happiness.
Many of the events throughout the retreat highlighted the importance of giving back to the community. The resort does this through its non-profit organisation called The Abundant Life Foundation (ALF). The organisation connects Hondurans with resources for housing and education.

What began as a small gathering in Turkey has grown into a global family, now reaching millions across the globe
Belgin Aksoy, founder, Global Wellness Day
Global Wellness Day: A heartfelt journey
When I first dreamed of Global Wellness Day in 2012, I never imagined how far one simple idea could travel.
After facing my own health challenges, I felt a deep desire to create a reminder – not just for myself, but for everyone – that taking care of our wellbeing is the most precious gift we can give ourselves. And so, Global Wellness Day was born from my heart, with a single message: “One day can change your whole life.”
The evolution of a movement
What began as a small gathering in Turkey has grown into a global family that now reaches millions of people across the globe.
Each year brings countless moments that stay with me: people coming together under the same sky, lighting iconic landmarks in magenta, planting trees, sharing hugs, dancing, meditating and simply choosing to be present.
The beauty of Global Wellness Day is not in its size, but in the sincerity of its message and in the love shared by thousands of volunteers who give their time and love to make it happen.
Global Wellness Day 2025
As we look at the 14th celebration that took place this year, on 14 June, all around the world, our theme #ReconnectMagenta feels more important than ever.
In a world that moves so fast, we're gently reminded to reconnect – with ourselves, with nature and with each other. This is the essence of wellness.
■ Global Wellness Day has been celebrated for 14 years around the world
Fourteen years later, my heart is still full of the same love and purpose that sparked this journey
With #ReconnectMagenta, our hearts unite in joyful acts such as sunrise yoga, shared laughter and planting hope. Let’s embrace this love and reconnect with our souls, nature and each other. Let’s commit to living well every day and spreading wellness with every heartfelt magenta step we take.
Fourteen years later, my heart is still full of the same love and purpose that sparked this journey. And every smile, every small act of kindness on Global Wellness Day, continues to remind me why we say “Yes!” to living well. ●

AROUND THE WORLD
Magenta movement
Global Wellness Day 2025 saw landmarks glow in magenta light and brands offered free activities to communities around the world
Saturday 14 June marked the fourteenth annual Global Wellness Day (GWD) – a worldwide celebration of physical, mental and emotional wellbeing, with the tagline "One day can change your life!" Millions of people around the world take part in free wellness-focused activities. This year, events were themed around reconnection between participants and their environment, their communities and their inner selves. Hotel groups that took part included Hyatt, Mandarin Oriental,
Accor, Four Seasons, Shangri-La, Hilton, IHG, Chiva-Som International, Jumeirah and many more.
In Turkey, where the movement originated, the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge in Istanbul was illuminated in the GWD colour of magenta, in support of the movement and symbolising the physical connection between the continents of Europe and Asia.
Other landmarks to light up in magenta around the world were the TRX building in Malaysia, Kingdom Tower in Saudi Arabia and the Cleveland Terminal Tower in Ohio, US.
Belgin Aksoy, founder of GWD, said, "In a world where we often lose ourselves in digital noise, we need more than ever to pause, hear our inner voice, breathe in the healing silence of nature and reconnect.
"True wellness is found in these quiet yet powerful moments – when we embrace ourselves, are present with our loved ones and discover profound peace in nature’s embrace."
Other brands shared their support too, such as Biologique Recherche, Davines Group, Global Wellness Summit, Garmin and Kerstin Florian International.
