Tim Gurner, Australian developer and founder of Gurner Group, is expanding the Saint Haven wellness concept across Australia, the UAE and the US.
Gurner Group aims to open 20-30 sites globally under its various brands by 2030, including its first locations in Dubai and the US by the end of this year.
Saint Haven private members clubs are designed to be immersive health club and social wellness locations that act as second homes, elevating health and providing wellness as well as social connection. Each one offers a mixture of personal training and group fitness, meditation, breathwork, food and nutrition advice, health check-ups, massage, ancient baths, recovery facilities and longevity treatments (e.g. cryotheraphy and IV infusions).
There is typically a wholefoods restaurant, café and business lounge. In addition to existing sites in Melbourne, two new clubs are being developed in Sydney – a flagship club in Bondi Beach and a second 3,000sq m club in North Sydney.

Daphne Metland unveils spa consumer feedback in State of Spa Report 2025
The Good Spa Guide has analysed feedback from 2,557 of its members on their enjoyment of spa experiences.
The resulting Good Spa Guide State of Spa Report was presented by founder Daphne Metland at the Spa Life UK convention.
Fifty-seven per cent of spa-goers look at a spa’s facilities before choosing one spa over another.
Sixty-nine per cent would be put off by reading poor reviews of a spa, with lack of value for money coming in a close second.
When asked what they enjoy most about a spa day, responses highlighted the indulgence of spa time, using the facilities and receiving treatments.
Sixty-one per cent of survey participants said they would be encouraged to re-book at a spa they’ve already been to if they were offered a discount for a return visit. Most responses said, however, they would support a ban on mobile phones because the ambience is ruined by selfie-takers filming.

Jamie Waring reveals social wellness concept called 432
Anew social wellness concept curated by three industry veterans will open soon in Amsterdam before being rolled out to key cities.
432 – a name which comes from 432 hertz, the earth’s natural frequency – has been created by wellness consultant, Jamie Waring, Jonathan Fisher (CEO of Holmes Place and Tribute Brands) and Emlyn Brown (VP of wellbeing at Accor).
Speaking to Spa Business' sister title HCM, Waring says the concept is aimed at health-orientated 25- to 40-year-olds who want to meet friends and have social experiences that don’t revolve around alcohol. The experience includes a breathwork class, a sauna and Aufguss ritual, followed by a cold plunge.
People can use the facilities independently but the most users will follow the journeys. A visit will cost €25. The first site will open in Amsterdam in Q3 and more are being sought in London, Helsinki, Dubai and Saudi Arabia.

All spa facilities at the Italian hospitality development in Bibione will operate o -grid, powered by solar energy and using harvested rainwater
Italian architecture firm ABCPlus Studio has revealed plans for an environmentally-conscious mixed-use destination near the town of Bibione, between Venice and Trieste on the Adriatic coast. Commissioned by real estate company, Bibione Darsena SRL, which operates marinas, the project will break ground in 2027 following completion of all required environmental and landscape approvals. The estimated opening date is 2030.
Sustainability
The concept merges responsible tourism with fragile ecosystem protection and an integrated culture of wellness throughout all facilities. The architectural layout will ensure all hospitality facilities become integral components of the landscape, actively protecting biodiversity, water systems and ecological networks. Every structure will adhere to cradle-to-cradle principles, enabling its complete removal and site restoration when necessary.
The overview
The development will include a 100-room hotel, residential units and o -grid hospitality and wellness facilities.

Our design philosophy centres on guiding guests to connect with the extraordinary indigenous territory that surrounds us
The low-impact hotel and accommodations will be integrated among natural sand dunes and indigenous vegetation, drawing architectural inspiration from traditional elevated stilt houses. The hotel will feature terraces that provide essential shading to a recessed glazed façade, complemented by green roofs and reflective surfaces designed to minimise thermal impact.
Micro lodges scattered throughout adjacent wetlands will be accessible via raised walkways that preserve the delicate ecology beneath.
The spa
The property’s botanical spa will sit at the heart of the development, in a network of open-air pavilions situated among mature pine trees and existing meandering freshwater canals.
The spa will be organised into three zones, a main spa centre housed within a glass and steel structure, o ering thermal treatments, such as hammams and thermal baths to blend with the location's naturally humid micro-climate.
A sound pavilion will create a contemplative sanctuary constructed from untreated larch and dedicated to yoga and meditation. The acoustic walls will be engineered to allow the natural sounds of wind, water and ambient nature to filter through, creating an immersive sensory environment.
Salt treatment facilities, including massage and treatment rooms, will be positioned on panoramic relaxation decks suspended within the pine canopy, o ering unobstructed views of the sea. ●

Trump's trading impact
A new study reveals the e ect of US trade tari s on the global spa industry
After speaking with numerous people from multiple sectors within the spa industry, it became clear that many were concerned about the new US trade tariffs that were introduced on 2 April to address the country's trade deficit.
The spa market has been trying to understand how best to deal with the changes, including a 10 per cent import levy to the US and steep country-specific duties. Therefore, I decided to
conduct a global survey, primarily to quantify the current impact and gather strategies being used already, which could be shared with the wider industry to help anyone else negatively affected.
The awareness of this information, published in the report Impact of US Tariff s on the Spa Industry, will bring more confidence to those dealing with negative impacts, as well as employees who worry about their job security. It's good to note 53 per cent of survey respondents stated the new tariffs were unlikely to change the number of employees in the business this year.
Background
The spa and wellness industry is facing rising costs and uncertain supply chains as a result of the economic turbulence.
Many spas in the US rely on imported equipment, products and other supplies, which are now subject to the tariffs, while suppliers based outside the US face logistics complications, inflated export costs and must meet other changing trade requirements. The

■ 45 per cent of respondents in the US have been impacted
threats of squeezed margins, increased prices for consumers and disrupted service delivery loom as firms adapt to the turbulence.
Methodology
The global online survey was completed by 83 respondents, with the sample including operators and suppliers – 26 per cent from the Americas (22 people), 49 per cent from Asia Pacific (41 people), 19 per cent from Europe (16 people) and 7 per cent from the Middle East and Africa (6 people)*.
Given 26 per cent of respondents were unsure of the impacts, some suggesting it was too early to know, it may be interesting to conduct a follow up survey towards the end of the year to share updates. (*NB, numbers have been rounded)

The report, which can be purchased from www.intelligentspas.com for US$30 (€26, £22), goes into detail on topics including specific impacts on the industry, the significance of these changes and strategies to mitigate the effects. ●
Key stats (sample = 83)
● 28 per cent of all survey respondents globally stated they are being negatively impacted by the new tariffs
● 72 per cent of all survey respondents globally say they have not yet been negatively impacted
● 32 per cent of those who stated they are not being negatively impacted have already changed their financial forecasts and budgets
● 47 per cent of those who sell products and/or services to the Americas said they’ve experienced negative impacts
● 45 per cent of respondents located in the US said they’re being negatively affected, versus 29 per cent of those located in the Asia Pacific region
● 8 per cent of respondents from Europe, Africa and the Middle East stated they’re being negatively impacted
