Whenmykidswereyounger,October

meantpumpkinpatchesandfallfestivals withhayrides.Thesedays,it’slessabout pettingzoosandpumpkinpicking,and moreaboutbravingscarycornmazes andhauntedhouses.Thethrilllooksdifferent,butthetraditionofdoingsomethingseasonaltogetherremains.

Andthentherearethecostumes.I usedtoloveputtingtogetherfamilythemedoutfits.Itwassofuntocoordinatecostumeswherewealldressedas charactersfromthesamestory.Nowthat mykidsareolder,thosefamilycostumes havepivotedintogroupcostumeswith theirfriendsplusmedoingsomething completelyrandom.Andyouknowwhat? Iloveitjustasmuch.Seeingthemlaugh, plan,andcreatememorieswiththeir peopleisjustanotherreminderthattraditionsdon’thavetostaythesametostay meaningful.Theygrowrightalongside ourkids.
