As we welcome the warmth and vibrancy of summer, I hope this season brings new opportunities for growth and success to your businesses. The summer months often bring a unique set of challenges and opportunities, and I would like to share some practical advice to help you make the most of this time.
1. Embrace the Seasonal Trends:
Summer is a time when consumer behavior often shifts. Take advantage of seasonal trends by promoting products or services that cater to summer activities, holidays, and events. Consider special promotions or discounts that can attract both local customers and tourists.
2. Optimize Your Online Presence:
With many people traveling and spending more time outdoors, ensure your business’s online presence is robust and up-to-date. Make sure your website is mobile-friendly, and leverage social media to engage with your audience. Highlight any summer-specific offers or events you’re hosting.
3. Focus on Employee Well-being: Summer can be a challenging time for employees balancing work and personal commitments, especially those with families. Consider offering flexible working hours or the option to work remotely. Organizing team-building activities can also boost morale and strengthen your team’s cohesion.
4. Network and Collaborate:
Summer events and festivals provide excellent networking opportunities. Participate in local events, fairs, and festivals to increase your business’s visibility. Collaborating with other local businesses for joint promotions or events can also drive mutual benefits.
5. Prepare for the Fall:
While enjoying the summer, don’t lose sight of the future. Use this time to plan for the upcoming fall season. Whether it’s preparing for back-to-school promotions or strategizing for the holiday season, early planning can set you up for success.
6. Stay Informed:
Keep an eye on the latest business trends and updates. Our Chamber of Commerce offers various resources, workshops, and seminars that can provide valuable insights and help you stay ahead of the curve. Make sure to take advantage of these opportunities.
Finally, remember that the Chamber is here to support you. If you have any ideas, concerns, or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. Let’s make this summer a season of prosperity and growth for our entire business community.

Each month we showcase a couple of our board directors giving you the opportunity to know our leadership team
We are lucky to have Preston as our Board Chair this year. Preston is an avid fan of compelling documentaries and a perfectly cooked ribeye. When he’s not busy donating his time to others he loves listening to insightful podcasts, hunting, and cherishing moments with his family, including his wife Amanda and their two young children.
Preston’s dedication to his work at Bayou City Industrial Contractors and his diverse interests make him a valuable asset to our board and a cherished member of our community.
La’Jasmine is one of our newest board directors, coming to us from the HR Department of Kuraray. Human Resources wasn’t always her plan; she originally wanted to pursue a career in nursing, and still plans on becoming a published author in the future, possibly when she retires to a tropical island down the line. When LJ isn’t working she enjoys watching romantic comedies, psychological thrillers, and witty sitcoms.
LJ’s strong “people skills” and calm demeanor radiates confidence and success and we welcome her to our Board of Directors.
