these projects, I have the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from individuals in other departments. [AS] That’s great! What are some of the learning opportunities you have found so far? [KK] The LLDP provides recent graduates with the opportunity to learn, develop skills, and connect with people from other plants and business segments. As an LLDP working at the Bath Cement Plant, I am able to learn continuously by being immersed in an environment with a variety of mechanical equipment. Taking the lead on several plant improvement projects has proven to be an invaluable learning experience. It is also beneficial to work alongside employees with many years of experience in the cement industry. [AS] We are glad to hear that you have been enjoying working at Lafarge. What aspects of our organization’s mission and values do you identify the most with? [KK] The core values that attracted me to Lafarge Eastern Canada were the emphasis on growth and innovation, and the focus on sustainability. In my daily work, I aim to identify opportunities for change and develop new and innovative approaches to solve problems. Sustainability is currently at the forefront of the industry reducing carbon emissions, limiting water consumption, conserving energy, and minimizing dust emissions are all essential to plant operations and improvements.
