Welcome
from the Deputy Head of Secondary (overseeing Boarding)

Here at Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar, the boarders constitute the very heartbeat of our school and indeed, the atmosphere that pervades is richer for the presence of our boarding community. While offering a traditional British boarding school model in a Malaysian setting, we are forward thinking in our approach, and while we could never replace the love and care of a student’s home, our boarding houses offer experiences, memories and friendships that are enhanced by the boarding environment. Dedicated house staff are focused on creating a ‘second home’ for our students, making sure our boarding houses are a place of comfort, support and belonging for all who live there.
Our holistic approach to education is rooted in the belief that we should be developing students beyond the bounds of the classroom, allowing them to grow and to prepare for all the opportunities and challenges of life beyond school.
We believe happy students will be successful ones, and therefore we focus on enriching all aspects of our students’ lives, aiding them in their development into confident and well-rounded young adults and global citizens.
Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar is an amazing school, full of happy students who benefit from our diverse pool of teaching experience and the abundance of facilities that sit within our 80-acre site. We are extremely proud of the international boarding provision we provide and are confident that our students are ready to ‘Make it’ in the ever changing global world that awaits them when they leave.

Welcome & Introduction from the
Houseparent of Naquiyuddin

Welcome to Naquiyuddin!
To give you some background about myself, I have been the houseparent of Naquiyuddin House since 2019. Prior to that, I was Head of Boarding of a large prep school in England, where I lived for 21 years. I was born, raised and educated in Durban, South Africa. I love travelling to new places with my family and I am also a lover of sport, particularly golf, cricket and rugby.
I am passionate about pastoral care and I look forward to offering our new students my support in their time in Naquiyuddin. I am incredibly fortunate to have an outstanding House Team working with me and the boys.
I am looking forward to working closely with your son and, together with the Naquiyuddin team, I hope that we can make his time in the House and at KTJ both fulfilling and rewarding. Your son’s all-round development is our responsibility and we aim to support each student so that they are able to make progress in all aspects of their lives. We are a close-knit House where all the boys are encouraged to play a part and support their housemates. Although there will be times when I need to communicate directly with parents, we try to let the boys take care of many aspects of their lives in Naquiyuddin, so much of our communication will be directly with or through them. That said, if you have any questions or concerns, please call, text or email the House phone in the first instance.
I do sincerely hope that your son enjoys his time in Naquiyuddin and that our community helps him to grow and flourish.
Mr Warren Miller Houseparent of Naquiyuddin
Welcome from the House Captains

A warm welcome to Naquiyuddin House! My name is Kieran Awang and I am one of your House Captains for the upcoming ‘24-’25 academic year. Although new to the boarding experience, I am a long term student here at KTJ. I am confident that all the new boys will enjoy their time here at KTJ with the support of your Naquiyuddin brothers and the rest of the KTJ Community. The bonds you make in KTJ will last a lifetime, regardless of what you enjoy, due to the plethora of House and school activities on offer, including a multitude of sports, music and community service clubs. In Naquiyuddin, we pride ourselves in our non-stop drive for greatness whilst balancing school and House life. This ethos is something we ensure to pass on to our new brothers. I look forward to meeting all our new brothers and welcoming you into our family!
Welcome to the House of Champions! My name is Killian Hughes and I will be one of your House Captains for the coming year. Naquiyuddin is a house like no other; with the deep-rooted brotherhood, welcoming environment, unparalleled house spirit and collective drive to excel in all that we do. However, the house is only one part of the KTJ experience, there is an abundance of different endeavours to be seized during your time here! The opportunities I’ve been afforded in my time in KTJ have been plentiful. I’ve had the pleasure of dining with Tunku Dara, playing in a band, travelling Malaysia during school trips and representing the school in a variety of different sports. I eagerly anticipate meeting you, my fellow Champions, and I’m excited for the year ahead of us all!
