the Musical HREK Presents: Proudly

A message from arah Chesworth, Head of econdary
It gives me immense pride (and a slightly green tinge of envy) to introduce this year’s school production of Shrek. This is our largest cast to date—an impressively talented and committed group of students who have thrown themselves into the world of talking donkeys, disgruntled ogres, and show-stopping musical numbers with an energy that would rival any West End ensemble.
While tonight’s performance promises laughter, music, and perhaps a tear or two (mainly from parents seeing their child on stage), it is also a celebration of something far more significant: the transferable skills our students develop through the performing arts.
Whether they go on to be engineers, lawyers, doctors or diplomats, the ability to speak clearly and confidently, to work as part of a team, to persevere through setbacks, and to present oneself under pressure are all essential qualities in the modern workplace. These are exactly the skills nurtured through musical theatre. It is our hope that many students will be inspired to continue their journey in the Expressive Arts at IGCSE, not just because they enjoy it but because it prepares them for life.
Thank you for supporting the arts at KTJ. Now sit back, relax, and prepare to be transported to a land not so far, far away…
A message from Tristan Weston,
Director and Assistant Head of econdary
Get ready to fall in love—with a donkey, a dragon, and a grumpy green ogre with a heart of gold! Shrek the Musical is a joyful, toe-tapping tale that proves true love doesn’t always wear shining armour. It’s a celebration of being yourself, laughing loud, and holding onto hope no matter how weird or wobbly the journey. Our cast has poured their hearts (and plenty of giggles) into bringing Far Far Away to life, and we can’t wait for you to feel the magic. So sit back, relax, and prepare to laugh, cheer, and maybe even shed a happy tear because this swamp is bursting with love, hilarity, and happily-everafters!
Let the fairy tale begin!
