~Society ~ Adult Faith Formation Summer Offerings Emily Warner St. Mary Church in Uxbridge is pleased to announce two summer programs for ongoing discipleship formation through their Adult Faith Formation program. These are an Introduction to Catholic Social Teaching and 33 Days to Morning Glory - a Consecration to our Blessed Mother. Peter Fritz, Associate Professor in the Department of Religious Studies from the College of the Holy Cross will be teaching a five-week Introduction to Catholic Social Teaching. This will begin on Wednesday July 27th from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Catholic Social Teaching (CST) is often thought of as the church’s best-kept secret. We are all aware that God loves us and asks us to love our neighbors. But fewer people know that the church gives us principles and guidelines to help us love God and our neighbor not just in private, but also in public; not just in our homes and neighborhoods, but also in politics and society. CST is this body of principles and guidelines. In this class, modern CST will be surveyed and participants will see how it advocates for Christcentered living. Everyone will learn the biblical and traditional roots of CST, and three of the main principles of CST, solidarity, subsidiarity, and the universal destination of goods, will be dis-

6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and will help you develop a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ through his mother Mary. This book and video program is part of the Hearts Afire series by Fr. Michael E. Gaitley, MIC who is director of evangelization for the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception in Stockbridge. Four major saints who had a deep devotion to Mary will be highlighted: St. Maximillian Kolbe, Mother St. Teresa of Calcutta, St. John Paul II and St. Louis de Montfort. Cost for the program is $30.00 and includes a book and workbook. The books will be ordered through the office. Scholarship Award Winner The Thimble Pleasure Quilt Guild is pleased to announce that the recipient of its 2022 Scholarship is Emily Warner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wade Warner of Uxbridge. Emily is a recent graduate of Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School and will be attending the University of Hartford where she will be enrolled in the University Honors Program to study art. This scholarship is awarded annually to high school seniors in the towns represented by the members of the guild and presently, is offered to students in 13 area towns.
