Adult Faith Formation Summer Offerings
Advertisement
St. Mary Church in Uxbridge is pleased to announce two summer programs for ongoing discipleship formation through their Adult Faith Formation program. These are an Introduction to Catholic Social Teaching and 33 Days to Morning Glory - a Consecration to our Blessed Mother.
Peter Fritz, Associate Professor in the Department of Religious Studies from the College of the Holy Cross will be teaching a five-week Introduction to Catholic Social Teaching. This will begin on Wednesday July 27th from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Catholic Social Teaching (CST) is often thought of as the church’s best-kept secret. We are all aware that God loves us and asks us to
love our neighbors. But fewer people know that the church gives us principles and guidelines to help us love God and our neighbor not just in private, but also in public; not just in our homes and neighborhoods, but also in politics and society. CST is this body of principles and guidelines. In this class, modern CST will be surveyed and participants will see how it advocates for Christ-
centered living. Everyone will learn the biblical and traditional roots of CST, and three of the main principles of CST, solidarity, subsidiarity, and the universal destination of goods, will be discussed. No prior knowledge of CST or theology is needed. Brief weekly readings will be provided. Please register at: https://stmaryuxbridge.org/st-maryuniversity-of-uxbridge
Mary Fahey will be facilitating 33 Days to Morning Glory – A Consecration to our Blessed Mother. This six-
week program will be held on Mondays, July 11th – August 16th from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and will help you develop a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ through his mother Mary. This book and video program is part of the Hearts Afire series by Fr. Michael E. Gaitley, MIC who is director of evangelization for the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception in Stockbridge. Four major saints who had a deep devotion to Mary will be highlighted: St. Maximillian Kolbe, Mother St. Teresa of Calcutta, St. John Paul II and St. Louis de Montfort. Cost for the program is $30.00 and includes a book and workbook. The books will be
ordered through the office. Please signup on our website: https://stmaryuxbridge.org/33-days-to-morningglory Should you have any questions or if you need to register by phone for either offering, please call the office at: 508-278-2226 X 23. Both programs will be held at St. Mary Church, 77 Mendon St., Uxbridge in the parish hall. All are welcome to attend!
