Our Christmas Tree If you don't know the story of our center Christmas tree, it was a gift from the instructor team to me the 1st Christmas we were in the center. (2007) All the ornaments on the tree have been given by customers over the years and are labeled with the giver's name and year. I love getting the ornaments out every year and remembering each one. If you see an ornament that reminds you of Jazzercise or one of our instructors, we'd love to hang it on our tree! Take a minute and look at them all. Every one has a personality and a story!

12 Classes of Christmas It is a tradition at Jazzercise Nicholasville to count down the 12 classes before Christmas by giving away one gift from under our Christmas tree at each class. Class 12 will be the 9:30 a.m.class on Wednesday, December 21st and the last class will be our Christmas Eve class at 9:30 a.m. on the 24th. Body Sculpting Have you wondered about the Body Sculpting class on Sundays at 5:45 p.m. but have never given it a try? Body Sculpting is designed to give you extra strength training which we as women need to maintain bone density, muscle mass, balance and flexibility. Did you know women begin losing bone density at age thirty? That is why we are so susceptible to fractures as we age. The number one way to increase bone density (not just maintain it but actually increase it) is through weight bearing exercise like we do at Jazzercise. Body Sculpting is a forty-five minute class that includes a warm up, three arm, three leg and three abdominal routines, as well as stretching. There is no high impact, so it is easy on your joints but burns mega calories. Do you come to the Sunday 4:30 class regularly? Consider staying after for the body sculpting. You are already there and warmed up so it's that much more effective in burning calories PLUS you get another class that counts towards to Club Jazzercise total! Body Sculpting is a great addition to your regular Jazzercise workout. Give it a try!

Winter Weather Cancellation Policy If Jessamine County schools are closed, there will be NO weekday morning Jazzercise classes. If Jessamine County schools are on a one or two hour delay, we will have one morning class at 10:30 a.m. The 5:45 a.m. or 8:15 a.m. will be canceled. I will always try to hold evening classes unless the weather is very bad at that time of night. If I do cancel class or the class is delayed, I will send out an email, post it on Facebook and try to get the closing/delay listed on the local TV stations or their websites. If you are ever in doubt, please do not hesitate to call me before venturing out. I would hate for you to drive to class only to find it canceled or delayed. This holds true for Saturday mornings as well. Please note my phone numbers: Home: 224-9300 or Cell: 333-0178.

Health & Beauty Article: Smooth Skin in the Winter (CARLSBAD, CA) – Exercise is supposed to be the fountain of youth. So, why the dry, scaly skin in the winter time? It seems that winter workouts in dry air, both indoors and outdoors, wreak havoc on skin, creating an appearance that is anything but youthful. Fitness aficionados, take heart. Winter time workouts are not synonymous with dry, cracked skin. Jazzercise Founder and CEO Judi Sheppard Missett gives these suggestions to fight-off seasonal dryness, so that your fitness glow can shine through all winter long. • Take shorter showers. Anthem while basking in the steam of a hot shower. Hot water actually dehydrates your skin by removing its normal, protective oils. Take a shorter shower (no more than 10 minutes) to keep your skin from drying out. When you exit the shower, apply lotion immediately, while your skin is still warm and damp, to seal in the moisture. • Switch facial cleansers. Use a creamy cleanser instead of a gel cleanser during the winter. Also, switch to a richer formula of facial moisturizer. • Run a humidifier. Dry, indoor heating strips the air – and your skin – of moisture. Prevent flaky and cracked skin by running a humidifier at night to keep the air moist. • Apply hand cream liberally. We tend to wash our hands more often in the winter, in the interest of fighting off colds and flu. Unfortunately, public restroom soaps and antibacterial hand sanitizers dry out your skin. Use hand cream throughout the day to hydrate your skin.

• Drink water. Dry, chapped lips are often a sign of dehydration. When it’s cool outside, we often drink fewer fluids, which results in chapped lips. Try to drink 8-10 glasses of water per day to keep your skin nourished with fluids. • Moisturize pre-workout. The high sodium (salt) content of perspiration can be drying to your skin. Apply moisturizer before you workout. The moisture will seep into your pores, which naturally open during exercise, and offer a protective barrier against the sodium and bacteria. • Exfoliate. Keep your skin vitalized by removing dead skin cells 2-3 times per week. Products that contain loofah or jojoba offer natural exfoliation without irritating your skin. • Avoid Tanning. The heat and UV rays from tanning salons dehydrates your skin and accelerates aging. If you can’t face the world without a sun-kissed glow, try a tinted moisturizer instead.
