Welcome to Kinross-shire’s Winter Festival 2015! During the end of October, November and December, we will be bringing you a celebration of exciting community events, festive shopping, live music, pantos, Santa’s Grottos and party nights. There will also be activities for the whole family on your doorstep which we think will appeal to you all. Highlights will include well known names like Rab Noakes (6 Nov) and Big Country (21 Nov)! You are also invited to come and sing in (or just enjoy!) The Pirates of Penzance (15 Nov). We are delighted to welcome back Lucy Duffy and crew with the dazzling show Another Night on Broadway (13 and 14 Nov). We are also looking forward to celebrating new stars at Kinross-shire’s Got Talent (20 Nov). All ages can take part in this popular event. The hugely successful Festive Street Market is back (28 Nov), giving shoppers the chance to find unusual and unique gifts in time for Christmas. There will be an
array of stalls selling some of the finest local produce. The focal point this year will be the stalls of the newly launched Farmers’ Market in Kinross! There will also be plenty of live music and family entertainment. Light Up Kinross will take place the same evening, so make sure you are there for the big switch on! This year’s Winter Festival is again an exciting collaboration between local businesses and community groups. Do come along to enjoy, and make the most of what’s on offer in your community! www.kleo.org.uk

With Watson and Brzezicki still at the helm, the current line-up also includes Derek Forbes (ex Simple Minds), recently voted Best Scottish Bass Player of all time, Simon Hough (lead vocal and guitar) and Jamie Watson (guitar and vocals). Their sensational live shows have delighted long-standing supporters and created a whole new generation of fans. Their unique anthemic sound, with all five band members sharing vocals, shows that their passion is undiminished and that “big songs” from Big Country have stood the test of time.

The Coaltown Daises bring together the musical styles of established singersongwriters, Lynzy Moutter and Vivienne Bern; their shared passion for music in all shapes and sizes steered them towards meeting in the middle and collaborating on their original songs. Detailing their music with dual harmonies, intelligent lyrics and raw emotion, they want nothing more than to perform them in front of a great audience!

Kinross Farmers' Market Did you know that in Scotland alone we produce 1.300 billion litres of milk, 1.15 million tonnes of potatoes and 4700 tonnes of strawberries? But how often do you buy your ingredients locally and direct from the producer? As the Scottish Government’s Year of Food and Drink comes to a close, Kinross will be hosting one of the last celebrations which will leave a legacy for our local community and beyond. Launching at this year’s Winter Festival Market will be the Kinross Farmers’ Market, bringing together local food and drink. Businesses from in and around the area will give you the reassurance of knowing where and how your food and drink was produced. The market will initially take place four times a year and during 2016 will be supported by The Scottish Government’s Community Food Fund. The market will offer quality Scottish produce low in food miles and therefore full of flavour. Seasonality will be very important and throughout the year you will have the opportunity to buy an assortment of produce featuring different cuts of meat, home-grown vegetables, flavoured juices and freshly made jams to
suit the harvest. You will have the opportunity of speaking directly to the producers who grow, rear, or make the delicious food and drink that will be on sale. They will be able to offer tips on cooking with their ingredients or perhaps encourage you to try something new that becomes one of your favourite dishes. There will be the opportunity for local charities and craft/art stalls to participate in the market as “guest” stallholders, ensuring the market continues to offer variety, and in turn supports our local economy. This is an exciting addition to Kinross which will enhance our High Street and encourage local and neighbouring residents to buy, not only from the market, but our local shops. So dig out your re-usable bags and baskets, and join us with your shopping list on Saturday 28 November as we proudly launch The Kinross Farmers’ Market. We look forward to seeing you all there. For full information on the market, the stallholders, some fantastic recipes and how you can get involved please visit www.kleo.org.uk
Kinross Winter Festival Market From jewellery and cards to cakes and pies, there will be plenty of Christmas offers that make good buys. Last year several thousand lined the street, so you never know who you might meet. More than eighty stalls are welcomed by all, many are local businesses just starting out small.
7
The streets are alive with the sound of chatter and dance, as Kinross fills with carols to put you in a trance. The roads line with stallholders offering you gifts and treats, as your feet begin to tap to the piper band’s beats. The tasty hot food will keep you warm, whilst the mulled wine and spiced apple is sure to go down a storm. The Christmas lights sparkle in the night sky, as we all cross our fingers the evening remains dry. For the children there are activities and plenty to do, from Santa’s Grotto to a fun fair with a ride or two.
A number of competitions and games will catch your eyes, but will you be going home with the star prize. An event for the community, your family and friends, Make sure you join us before 7pm when the celebration ends. Add Saturday 28th November to your diary today, you never know you might event spot Santa and his sleigh. The Winter Festival Market returns on Saturday 28th November in Kinross High Street from 4pm to 7pm followed by Light Up Kinross.

Laaaee....haa ii yyy dd lass TTTrsddd?
Are you new to the Kinross Area or do you want to make more friends? We‘re always welcoming new faces to join us, get out and have fun. Are you aged between 18 & 45? Why not come along to one of our Thursday night get-togethers. We don’t wear pearls and twin-sets and we are not old fashioned, making jams or knitting - well not yet anyway!! We just enjoy meeting up and having fun doing a wide range of activities and the odd bit of local fundraising to support our community. It‘s a chance to get out and meet new people and try something you never thought of doing and making lasting friendships along the way.

Lucy Duffy presents: Another Night on Broadway Friday 13 and Saturday 14 November | 7pm | Loch Leven Community Campus | £7 (adult) | £5 (18 and under) Lucy Duffy makes her 3rd appearance at the Kinross Winter Festival after sell out shows in the last two years. After the rave reviews for ‘One Night on Broadway’, the cast of 16 return with a brand new show for two nights. As before, the show will include fully staged and costumed numbers from top Broadway shows such as Matilda, Wicked, Oliver, Annie, Miss Saigon and The Sound of Music. As last year, this will showcase the incredible talent of the chosen performers from stage schools and youth theatres.
So far, Lucy and her cast have raised over £4000 from previous productions in aid of various charities and the profits from the 2015 shows will also benefit chosen charities. Gerry McGregor (LLCC Events & Bookings Co-ordinator) said after last year’s performance, “You could have been forgiven in thinking that you were in the West End”. If you love musical theatre, or just enjoy top quality singing and dancing, ‘Another Night on Broadway’ is an event not to be missed.
