Festive Street Market other Community Events & Activities WWW.KLEO.ORG.UK

Welcome to Kinross-shire’s Winter Festival 2016; a celebration of exciting community events from the end of October, through November and into December. Activities for the whole family on your doorstep such as festive shopping, live music, pantos, Santa’s Grottos and party nights. Highlights will include Latha Gàidhlig, a whole day of activities celebrating the Gaelic language culminating in an evening concert with awardwinning Gaelic singer Maeve Mackinnon (29 October). Come and have a good laugh at the Winter Festival Comedy night (18 November) or enjoy some great music with Lights Out By Nine (Saturday 19 November) or the Black Cat Jook Band and Coaltown Daisies (Saturday 12 November). We are delighted to welcome back Lucy Duffy and crew with another dazzling show That Lovin’ Feeling (11 and 12 Nov).
The hugely successful Festive Street Market is back (26 Nov), giving shoppers the chance to find unusual and unique gifts in time for Christmas. There will also be plenty of live music and family entertainment. Light Up Kinross will take place the same evening, so make sure you are there for the big switch on! This year’s Winter Festival is, once again, an exciting collaboration between local businesses and community groups. Do come along to enjoy, and make the most of what’s on offer in your community!

Black Cat Jook Band & The Coaltown Daisies Saturday 12 November | 8pm | Milnathort Town Hall | Tickets £8 (£6 concession) | BYOB is a Fife-based five-piece string band bringing alive the sounds of the American South in the 30s and 40s playing ‘vintage Americana’. They feature jug band music, country blues, ragtime, skiffle and Vaudeville, on guitars, ukulele, mandolin, harmonica, tuba, washboards and tea chest bass. Their music reflects the good-time hokum side of the blues, with a special fondness for the music of Big Bill bronzy, Memphis Minnie and their friends. The evening will kick off in fine style with the Coaltown Daisies, who are making their third appearance at the Kinross Winter Festival. ‘Best Folk Performance’ winners, Lynzy Moutter and Vivienne Bern write and perform folk, soul and Americana
music. They bring together the musical styles of established singer-songwriters and showcase their original songs with excellent harmonies, intelligent lyrics and raw emotion. They have recently released their debut album “ This Old House” which includes some of Scotland’s most highly credited musicians. This will be a concert with a great variety of music styles and instruments! Definitely not to be missed!
“That Lovin' Feeling” Friday 11 and Saturday 12 November / 7pm / Loch Leven Community Campus / Tickets £7 (£5 concession, 18 and under) Lucy Duffy returns for a fourth year to the festival with a brand new comedy musical ‘That Lovin’ Feeling’. Following the successes of ‘One Night on Broadway’ and ‘Another Night on Broadway’, Lucy and her cast of 14, selected from stage schools and youth theatre, will perform a comedy musical featuring hit songs from the 50s and 60s. Once again, the production will be fully costumed with professional sound and lighting. Profits will be donated to charity and so far Lucy and her cast have donated over £6500.
The Story Laura is a budding songwriter who, as a girl, isn’t taken seriously by the local record company. By chance, she meets Troy, and needs to find a way to convince him to perform her songs. The action takes place around Downtown Records where we meet various characters and discover their complicated and comic relationship issues. ‘That Lovin’ Feeling’ is a comedy musical featuring over 20 hit songs, including ‘Say A Little Prayer’, ‘Burning Love’, ‘Reet Petite’, ‘Close To You’ and ‘Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow’. Come along for a feel-good evening of great music, great dancing and unforgettable fashion trends of the era.
