Welcome to the Summer edition of the Burst, its great to see so many of our members and their guests enjoying the summer days at the Club in the airconditioned lounge areas or outside on the veranda which is very pleasant at this time of the year.
As mentioned in the previous edition of the Burst the Board has appointed Club member Kate Gilbert to fill the casual vacancy on the Board, which was created with the resignation of Heather Shepherd, several well credentialed members applied for the position, and it was a tough task for the Board to choose the person to fill the position. I am sure Kate will make a very worthwhile contribution to the Board. Welcome Kate.
Members, please note next year there will be a Club Board election, the dates for nominations and voting are on page 5 of the Burst, if you are interested in standing, please avail yourself of the nomination form through reception and if you have any queries as to what is involved talk with one of the current Board Members or CEO Ian Todd. We encourage all members to take the opportunity to vote as the Board sets the direction of the Club.
The Club Board and Management are continuing to look at areas to make the Club more sustainable and look for opportunities to secure the Clubs financial future.
Your Club through the clubs Grants scheme has once again assisted many very worthwhile charities and local junior sporting organizations with cheques totaling $124K, Homeless Veterans, Calvary Health Care, St George Children with Disabilities, Hurstville United JRLFC, Kingsgrove Colts JRLFC and of course the Clubs own inhouse sporting groups are a few of the recipients, the full listing of donations appears on page 4.
The Sub-Branch, the Auxiliary and the Community Group continue to play an important role for the Club in the community, providing ANZAC and Remembrance Day Services at local schools and Nursing Homes, providing Easter eggs and Christmas Hampers, organizing visits by Nursing Homes to the Club for morning tea our thanks to all those involved for giving freely of their own time helping others and representing the Club in the community.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I wish all the Kingsgrove RSL Club members and their families a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year and thank you for your continued patronage of this great Club.
I look forward to seeing you at the Club sometime soon.
