King’s Leadership Academy Bolton is a ‘Good’ school.
Principal’s Message
Welcome back to the Summer Term, it has been a whirlwind return to school; Year 10 Geography Rivers trip, Year 9 journalism and careers event, Year 11 History visit to Hardwick Hall and for some the start of formal GCSEs.
On Tuesday and Wednesday our Year 10 intrepid explorers left Bolton and took part in a full day immersion into understanding the physical nature of geography and how our environment has evolved over time, how we as humans shape our world. The group that takes our children out into the river had nothing but positive things to say about them and commented to Ms Bhana that they always look forward to King’s Bolton attending as the children are inquisitive, polite and highly motivated. The sessions are designed to support children’s understanding of the GCSE component but it also goes deeper than that in giving them an appreciation for the world they live in
On Thursday Year 9 had an in-depth look at the world of journalism and careers taking part in a match report activity. An incredible opportunity for our children to be part of this event which had been organised by Mr Smith to broaden our children’s horizons and opportunities - all part of the unique King’s offer we have at our school.
Today our Year 11 GCSE pupils are off to experience the wonders of Hardwick Hall which is an architecturally significant Elizabethan-era country house in Derbyshire, England. A leading example of the Elizabethan prodigy house, the Renaissance style home was built between 1590 and 1597 for Bess of Hardwick to a design of the architect Robert Smythson. Our Year 11 children have been studying this period of history during their GCSE course and having 1 hand knowledge st by being able to visit the house will give them an advantage over other children who have not had this wonderful opportunity provided to them
And finally, GCSE Art exam started on Thursday and continues into next week. Our Creative c used as the base and our children in Y7-10 have behaved impeccably supporting their peers so that they can work in peace. Next week sees the start of the Year 11 Spanish speaking exams. Busy times ahead.
