King’s Leadership Academy Bolton is a ‘Good’ school.
Principal’s Message
Welcome one and all to the weekly Friday Newsletter. I sincerely hope you have had a good week at work. For many of our children and their families this weekend will be special as it marks the end of Ramadan and where Muslim’s celebrate Eid al-Fitr, the "festival of breaking the fast". It takes place the day after the new Moon is seen at the end of the month of Ramadan, and marks the start of Shawwal - the 10th month of the Islamic calendar. Eid al-Fitr is usually a period of celebration, with families and friends coming together and sharing large meals. It is also common for children to receive either money or small gifts from their elders.
So for all our families who are marking this event either on Sunday or Monday from all of us here at King’s Bolton and from the wider Greater Schools Trust family, Eid Mubarak Reminder that the school is closed to children on Monday 31 March in recognition of Eid. st
Yesterday (Thursday) our Year 11 children received their recent mock examination results, had the opportunity to discuss their outcomes with teaching staff and for you as a parent to be present to here the conversation. Whilst we have 18 school days until the start of the first large cohort summer exam there are weekends, there is the Easter holiday and the May holiday where our staff are putting on a range of additional learning opportunities. Please make sure your child is taking advantage of all the available sessions; in school during the day, after school during Lesson 7, at home during self study, during a holiday. Lets ensure that your child leaves our school with the very best grades they can achieve so that their next step into adulthood is made jus that little bit easier.
And finally, pupils this week have been taking part in a theme around benevolence and helping others find happiness and joy On Thursday our Year 9 cohort wrote th own ‘Thank you’ cards to an adult in the building that had helped them or done something nice It was a simple way for us all to come together and recognise small things that make a difference.

Great Work
This week our Year 9 and Year 7 pupils have been thinking about benevolence and how kind words, deeds and actions can positively impact others.
To pay kindness forward they have used some of their Mill time to write a thank you card to an adult in the building that has done something nice for them.

Food Technology
Within Food technology it is understood that working with food is difficult for a large number of our students here at KLAB during Ramadan. Due to this our students will embark on a reduced curriculum Meaning, students will still be doing some food practical throughout Ramadan, and we will be focusing on dishes which students can enjoy when breaking their fast with families.
Students next practical will be Pizza Pocket Pitas. Where students will cover/develop safe practical skills including knife skills, Toasting using a grill and linking this to the Eat Well Guide - Micronutrients/Macronutrients, Complex Carbohydrates
Students will need to bring the following ingredients on the dates linked to their class code. - They will not need to put them in the fridge in the morning as they are not cold produce items, students can bring them directly to their lesson on the day.
Ingredients:
1 pack of Pita bread
1 tube of Tomato puree
Mozzarella cheese or dairy fee alternative (This can be grated)
2 - 3 Toppings of choice (This can be vegetables or pre cooked chicken etc)
Container to take pizza home in.
If you are experiencing any financial difficulties in regards to providing ingredients please email with the student name and class code so that I can provide ingredients on their behalf - m luke@kingsbolton com
