King’s Leadership Academy Bolton is a ‘Good’ school.
Principal’s Message
Newsletter number 25, meaning we have done 25 school weeks since I began as Principal of your child’s school. It has gone by so fast, it has been such a wonderful start to my time here in Bolton.
Last night we celebrated with our community and held the King’s Bolton community Iftar event, organised by Ms Butt.
It was an incredible evening with speeches and recitals from our children, a video diary from the journalism club talking about what this time of year means for them This years theme was about a journey of reflection.
Reflection is a powerful thing. When we look back on our lives, as adults we see the struggles, the sacrifices, and the moments that shaped us. For me, reflection reminds me of my father, a man who arrived in this country as an orphan, unable to read or write English, he had a really difficult start in life but he was determined to build a future for himself and this determination to succeed was instilled in me and my sister from an early age. It reminds me of my own struggles times of hardship, times of uncertainty but also the strength and resilience that carried me through. Life is very much a test.
A reminder that our Year 11 results afternoon takes place on 27th March, all year 11 pupils will remain in school as there are various sessions taking place particularly with coursework elements Pupils in 7-10 will be permitted to leave at 1:15 to allow Year 11 teachers to meet wi pupils and parents across the afternoon into the evening Again, as we have done previously, any child that needs to remain in school until 3:35 we will have provision for them. The afternoon is to allow an opportunity to maximise the final few weeks, set out clear targets and achievable next steps to ensure that your Year 11 child achie highest grade possible.

KLAB Community Iftar Event 2025
On Thursday evening, we warmly welcomed our wonderful community once more to celebrate Ramadan together by sharing Iftar, whether fasting or not!
This year's theme was "Understanding Ramadan: A Journey of Reflection." We were honored to have guest speakers including Principal of Bolton Daruloom, Rory Gaskin, and Nasheed Artist Junaid Chapti.
Our journalism club students, under the guidance of Mr. G. Jones and Mr. F. Raja, have been diligently creating a video montage. Additionally, we enjoyed inspiring student speeches and poetry recitals.
We raised a remarkable total of £1037 89 which will be donated to Crescent Food Bank.
A huge thank you to all our incredible staff who volunteered to make this event such a success – truly a highlight of the school year! This amazing achievement wouldn't have been possible without the exceptional organization and dedication of Ms. N Butt. We are so grateful for everything!

Food Technology
Within Food technology it is understood that working with food is difficult for a large number of our students here at KLAB during Ramadan. Due to this our students will embark on a reduced curriculum Meaning, students will still be doing some food practical throughout Ramadan, and we will be focusing on dishes which students can enjoy when breaking their fast with families.
Students next practical will be Pizza Pocket Pitas. Where students will cover/develop safe practical skills including knife skills, Toasting using a grill and linking this to the Eat Well Guide - Micronutrients/Macronutrients, Complex Carbohydrates
Students will need to bring the following ingredients on the dates linked to their class code. - They will not need to put them in the fridge in the morning as they are not cold produce items, students can bring them directly to their lesson on the day.
Ingredients:
1 pack of Pita bread
1 tube of Tomato puree
Mozzarella cheese or dairy fee alternative (This can be grated)
2 - 3 Toppings of choice (This can be vegetables or pre cooked chicken etc)
Container to take pizza home in.
If you are experiencing any financial difficulties in regards to providing ingredients please email with the student name and class code so that I can provide ingredients on their behalf - m luke@kingsbolton com

Important changes to Bee Network child tickets
From 23 March tap and go contactless payments are being introduced across Bee Network buses and trams for full fare paying adults only
Child tickets are not available using tap and go. Children can continue to use their current method of payment for travelling to school or leisure (e.g. cash, contactless).
At the same time, we’re making it even easier to pay for child tickets on the Bee Network app.
Single child hopper tickets will be available on the app, alongside a range of other child tickets. It’s the safe, cash-free way to pay for travel.
Here’s our top tips for paying for child fares from 23 March:
Download the Bee Network app to pay for a range of child tickets. When paying with contactless always ask the bus driver for a child ticket before tapping your card (to avoid getting charged adult fare).
Keep your TfGM travel pass (igo card, Our Pass) separate from bank cards when you tap the card reader, to avoid your bank card being charged an adult fare.
As always, your one-stop-shop for travelling to school information is available at www beenetwork com/schools
If you have any further questions or want to speak to someone, please get in touch with the Bee Network Contact Centre online or call: 0161 244 1000.
