CECILIA

Because of her love of connecting with people and her love of entrepreneurship, she started doing some direct sales and network marketing. Inspired by a friend who made beautiful porcelain dolls, Cecilia started importing the molds from the USA that were needed for the creation of the dolls. She also started making and selling her own handmade ceramic dishes and vases, and started teaching ceramics classes.

When her husband was given the opportunity to immigrate to the U.S. to do IT contract work for a company in New Jersey in 1997, Cecilia was excited about the change. She bought a kiln shortly after they moved, but the mar ket was different, and she had trouble connecting with people to inform them about her products. A year later, the family relocated to Tampa for work, and then in the summer of 1999, her husband was offered a work opportu nity at IBM in Boulder County.

REALTOR® TO KNOW

After Cecilia was granted her work authorization, the couple connected with a REALTOR® and bought a

house. Cecilia developed a good rela tionship with their agent, and when she found out that they could use some help in their office, Cecilia embraced the change. In August 2002, she started working as an administrative assistant at a real estate agency. In December, she passed her exams and became a licensed REALTOR®.

“I have moved several times,” smiled Cecilia, “and I know how stressful it can be! I wanted to become an agent so I could change the experience for others. I love meeting new people, and I am grateful to say that 90 percent of my clients become my friends. That is the best change of all!”

She worked faithfully for legacy bro kerages in Longmont, being an agent of change for buyers and sellers. She soon started mentoring and encouraging new agents. She was very intentional about keeping herself educated and informed,

I EMBRACE CHANGE, BECAUSE IT IS NECESSARY FOR GROWTH & IMPROVEMENT.
Boulder County Real Producers • 9realproducersmag.com

focusing on continuing education and earning her graduate, REALTOR® Institute designation.

Cecilia knew that in order to effect the biggest changes, she had to be willing to change herself. In 2013, she earned her broker’s license and opened up her own boutique broker age which she named Shasta Realty. Her team now consists of six agents and a transaction coordinator.

“Because of my life experiences, I am capable of connecting, adjust ing and working with anyone from any cultural or nationality,” Cecilia noted, “and I build trust with clients and other agents easily. I believe it is important for the real estate

community to continue learning so we can help our clients better, not just to fulfill a CEU requirement. I love to teach and mentor, and I know that it helps me learn. I am still a great IT resource, as well!”

She has been giving back to the com munity for years by serving on various real estate boards and committees. Cecilia also volunteers to serve for real estate association activities. She stays connected to her clients through events and programs, scheduled visits, and drop-bys, and bought an engrav ing machine so she can make her own closing gifts.

The flexibility of real estate was a good fit for her when her three sons were growing up, and now that they are in their thirties and have provided her with four grandchildren, Cecilia is even more thankful for the adjustable schedule she has in real estate.

Cecilia loves to travel, whether it’s to see family or just for fun. She keeps herself fit and active and served as a personal trainer for a time. Although she has modified her fitness program, due to a ruptured disk, you will still find her at the gym most mornings because health and wellness are priorities for her. She is dedicated to be a fit REALTOR® physically and mentally, for her clients and team members. She also loves to hike, bike and paddleboard. Her favorite hobby is photography.

“I embrace change, because it is necessary for growth and improve ment,” shared Cecilia. “I want to discover what needs to be fixed, and learn from what is working, so I can make it better. I strive to succeed by keeping my standards and my head high, and always doing what is right. I am here, as the broker-owner of Shasta Realty and as an active community member, to be an agent of positive change.”

You can reach Cecilia at 303-875-3045 or cecilia@team-shasta.com.

I STRIVE TO SUCCEED BY KEEPING MY STANDARDS & MY HEAD HIGH, & ALWAYS DOING WHAT IS RIGHT.

PRESCHOOL THROUGH EIGHTH-GRADE EDUCATION:

WHERE CHILDHOOD THRIVES AND CONFIDENCE TAKES ROOT

For the faculty, staff and administrators at Boulder Country Day, back-to-school is a natural season to reflect on the purpose that brings us to our campus each morning. When wide-eyed preschoolers, eager elementary students and curious middleschoolers pass through our doors this fall, what skills, values and characteristics should we hope to instill? Perhaps even more important, how can we help each student discover the special traits and talents that are theirs and theirs alone?

At Boulder Country Day, a commitment to helping each student discover their unique excellence underlies our entire approach — beginning with our firm belief in the benefits of a preschool-througheighth grade community. While a student body ranging from age 2 and a half to age 14 is certainly a diverse group, we have observed first-hand, year after year, the positive impact of an educational environ ment that promotes growth and maturity, while also encouraging children to remain connected to the wonder of childhood for as long as possible.

BALANCING INTELLECTUAL MATURATION WITH SOCIALEMOTIONAL GROWTH

Age-appropriate academic excellence is the bedrock of our school. From world language instruction starting in preschool, to project-based learning and science lab in elementary school, and an IB-authorized program in middle school, our curriculum invites bold, cross-disciplinary academic exploration at every grade level. This expansive approach allows students to take supported risks and

discover new interests in a safe, nurturing setting. By keeping class sizes small, we foster close student-teacher relation ships and ensure abun dant individual attention tailored to student needs.

Building on our academic foundation, our unique preschool- through eighth-grade size and structure allows us to bring equal focus to cultivating character and kindness at every stage of childhood. Our robust social-emotional learn ing (SEL) program spans preschool through eighth grade, threading the prin ciples of self-awareness, respect, responsibility, and inclusivity through every facet of the BCD experience.

12 • October 2022 @realproducers

PROMOTING EXPERIMENTATION AND SELF-DISCOVERY

By the time they reach eighth grade, many students have identified aca demic and extra-curricular passions that have enormous influence on their high school — and even college — careers. But often, these special talents and interests can only be discovered through safe risk-taking, encourage ment and exposure to a diverse curricu lum. That’s why we believe so strongly in the importance of exploration and play during the formative elementary and middle school years.

Engaged academics, experiential learning through science, world language, and the visual and per forming arts feature prominently in every grade level at BCD. We encour aged students of all ages to share their artistic and performing talents with the entire school on a regular basis, and every BCD student has the chance to play sports for their school beginning in fifth grade. Our wellrounded programming embraces both established pedagogical best practices and innovative methods within each discipline, allowing students to truly discover themselves as learners, artists, and athletes before making choices about where to attend high school and beyond.

GROWING CONFIDENCE THROUGH COMMUNITY

Our preschool, elementary, and mid dle school programs share common values that set the BCD experience apart — and community lies at the core. True to our motto, “Respect Yourself, Respect Others, Take Responsibility for Your Actions,” we strive to nurture a deep sense of belonging in every “BCD Bulldog.”

As students grow from grade to grade, this powerful sense of community opens the door to natural leadership opportunities. Both fifth and eighth grade are complex developmental periods when students may feel caught between the familiar patterns of childhood and the mysteries of the next stage. We provide structure and motivation during these transitional years by inviting fifth and eighth graders to serve as leaders and role models for younger students in their respective school groups.

Our community values extend to the parents and caregivers who play a critical role in shaping the culture and spirit of our school. We welcome par ent feedback and engagement at every turn, and enthusiastically encourage parent participation in many of our school activities.

A SPACE FOR GROWTH, A FOUNDATION FOR SUCCESS

Children change dramatically in the elementary and mid dle school years. At BCD, we celebrate the dynamic nature of childhood and view these years as a precious and fleeting window for exploration and dis covery. We encourage parents to consider this perspective when weighing school choices for young learners.

By choosing a preschoolthrough eighth-grade program, parents can hold space for their children to develop genuine self-knowledge in elementary and middle school, free from unnecessary pressures or expectations of what comes next. By the time they reach eighth grade, BCD students –along with their parents and teachers – deeply understand the strengths, learning style, and interests that make them who they are. We believe there is no better foundation for success in high school — and, indeed, in life.

Picture this: Bouncing around in the Belizean jungle, Colin Colin reaches for his phone just before it bounces out of his pocket. While viewing the scenery, Colin opens up the phone and is in full-service mode. In contact with a client, he begins to write a contract on the teeniest, tiniest font. Doesn’t matter where he is or with whom service is ingrained in Colin. Deep in the jungle or wherever else your imagination conjures, you’ll find him on his phone, working. On their wedding day, he made his wife a deal: No looking at his phone. “But the day before and the day after, just for a little bit…” Now, she rolls her eyes with all the phone/work time. Colin, who works for milehimodern, is secretly glad he got to stay off his phone on his wedding day.

COLIN MEET

He met his wife at his friend’s wed ding in Bangkok, Thailand. “One of my good friends who I’ve known for 15 years moved to Thailand, married a Thai woman. I went to the wedding, met the groom’s little sister … and since I was at a good place in life, built a good foundation for myself, I was smitten. Went back to the States, and we talked every night before she moved from Colombia to the U.S. for hours on WhatsApp. Our relationship felt very respectful and comfortable.”

Sounds like a movie. He had met his friend Mauricio at the University of Boulder 10 years prior, and they also worked together — yet had not met Virginia. So it was rather a wonderful surprise for them both.

Luckily Colin speaks Spanish fluently, from lifelong studying in school. He gives himself a 100% comprehension rating, yet a C- depending on the rating system.

His wife, Virginia, is the love of his life, and she’s also his climbing partner. Both have climbed several 14ers together, and Colin says she is most definitely his support com panion up those steep mountains. He couldn’t do it without her.

as a Latin recording star and cur rently plays in Florida. He enthusias tically and unconditionally supports her and her vision and music, also her passion. As she makes it into a career, he watches her and claims it’s very exciting to him and it’s also hard work. That line of business is like drinking water out of a firehose, chal lenging to know what to do first. She now has a booking agent, songwriters, musicians, marketing guru, producer, and public relations person. On her newly released album, Virginia has Grammy award-winning artists.

Colin claims Virginia has taught him the most about people, and she is the most authentic person he’s ever met. He also says, “She’s a big part of who I am. An inspiration in many differ ent ways.” She works with people around the world and, like Colin, is a world traveler. Colin has traveled to Colombia, Mexico, Belize, Argentina, Hungary and Romania and travels to Thailand once a year.

Colin grew up in North Boulder with grandparents in Chautauqua. He has one younger sister who lives in Denver and nieces all around the world. One who happens to be in Thailand. His mother worked as a flight attendant to buy a modest ranch in her early 20s in the 70s. His father was a physician with a great bedside

manner, and his treatment of his patients highly influenced Dart.

Colin is also a runner. As he runs around Boulder, he learns about different neighborhoods. It makes it more personable, being physi cally closer in. He sells properties both in Denver and Boulder, so his clients run the gamut from more affordable houses under 300,000 to million-dollar homes. His main pri ority is a commitment to his rep utation with clients, other agents and with the public. He strives to be a “resource man” for his neigh bors so that they feel cared for and know they get the best attention and answers and/or support.

When Colin lived in Central Park, Denver, he frequented Yoga Pod Lowry. He loved the hot yoga there and diligently kept it up for 10 years. When he practices a few times a week, his perspective levels to a calmness where nothing seems that big of a deal. Regular exercise and his love for the outdoors have a similar effect on him. This year he ran his first marathon.

Colin is a serious animal lover and donates to the Humane Society. He says that he is compassionate to animals in general because they give so much, and he feels we owe them a lot in return. You’ll often find a water bowl for dogs passing by in front of his Chautauqua home before they head up to nearby trails, quenching their thirst.

Their children? Little Dandy. Dandy is one lucky cat. His name was derived by Colin who says he was looking at his little “boy,” and realized how dandy he looked. Dandy usually likes to get in on the camera action and sits on Colin’s lap. Colin considers him his “young man,” as he doesn’t currently have any human children.

featured in these pages. But there is only one Nissa Hall, understand what it looks like when someone is dedicated — heart and soul — to serving

Hall, a Broker Associate and REALTOR® with Porchlight Real Estate Group, got an early education on all things real estate thanks to her father — a land developer and investor. The youngest of 12 siblings growing up in Uruapan, Mexico, Nissa often found herself going to look at properties with her dad since she was too young to participate in her older siblings’ activities. Looking back, what a blessing. “Dad would take me to look at some land that looked like a dump and buy it for a low price, knowing what development was coming. He was ahead of the curve and very savvy.”

Nissa emigrated to Provo, Utah, to live with her brothers when she was just 15. She wasted no time learning English and soon had a job to support herself. By 17, she was on her own. Studies in fashion design at Brigham Young University followed, but the program was terminated at the halfway mark. Nissa didn’t

@realproducers HALL

want to leave Provo and smartly decided to transition her major to business management, knowing that she would one day be her own boss.

Things took off. Nissa wasn’t even out of college yet when Victoria’s Secret hired her to work in the creative side and to train store managers. That was fine until her time for herself was spread too thin. “After several years of working with them, I realized I needed to work for myself. I have always been an entrepreneurial woman so it was easy to make the move and achieve success in a short time.” Next came modeling work, which led to her owning a very successful modeling agency in California.

Nissa had also married Alan Hall, an intelligence officer in the U.S. Army, and started a family with him (three boys: Clark, Chason and Conner). After numerous Army stints in various locales, and with the boys growing up, the family moved to Boulder in 2008. Alan had left the military for a career with Lockheed Martin, which facilitated the move.

When Nissa’s youngest started preschool in 2015, she embarked on her real estate career. A year ago, she joined Porchlight, and she loves it. “The company is very attuned to hyperlocal agents who are very informed. It organizes many services for its Brokers, so we get to spend more time with our families.”

Nissa loves being part of changing people’s lives. She credits her dad with teaching her how to walk into a home and see what is not yet there. “What I bring to the table is a vision of what something can be,” she says. “I can provide contractors and do what’s needed for clients to realize their dream for a home even on a low budget. With my design background, I am good at staging and making sure good energy comes through. How a person feels when they walk in the door is important to me. My goal is to make the house warm and welcoming with a feeling of home.”

While her father showed her the ropes of investing and real estate, Nissa has boundless affection for her mother, to whom she says she owes everything. “She is the most amazing woman I know,” Nissa says. “The attributes I have, I owe to her great example of unconditional love and strength through tribulations —and she has had many. She has lived all her life in service to her church, her family, and her community. She is the happiest person I know. She wakes up every morning singing and attending to her garden. She makes flowers grow miraculously around her. When you are around her, your energy gets replenished. She is 92 years old and going on 30! I am extremely fortunate to have such an extraordinary woman as a mom.”

Nissa is very proud to help people find the perfect property on which to create their dream home. She works closely with a custom builder and can steer clients toward a land and construction loan with one of her trusted lenders. Then her own design creativ-ity comes into play, and she’ll help a client choose the design touches for the home.

A Life of Service

If you’ve ever bought or sold a house with Nissa Hall, you’ll recall that she went far beyond the extra mile

Boulder County Real Producers • 17realproducersmag.com

to get you to the closing table, but more than that, you’ll remember how happy she was. “I am always happy,” Hall explains. “Not because my life is perfect, but because I decided at a young age that it doesn’t matter what career I have or what challenges there are. I am going to be the best at what I do and be happy.” With this amazing perspective on life and her faith and participation in the LDS church guiding her, Nissa has discovered that what fulfills her is helping other people. So, yes, this comes through loud and clear in real estate, but, to Nissa, serving goes way beyond that. “When I can serve someone else, my own problems disappear,” she says.

Nissa is grateful to have been able to help many people as a local leader in the Relief Society—an international philanthropic women’s organization affiliated with the LDS church. She is also the president of the Denver chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP)—a purpose-driven organization that is propelled by a passionate combination of entrepreneurial spirit, cultural heritage, and the advocacy of its members. Its mission is to advance sustainable Hispanic homeownership by educating and empowering the real estate professionals who serve Hispanic home buyers and sellers; advocating for public policy that supports the trade association’s mission; and facilitating relationships among industry professionals. “As a Latina in the United States, I have worked very hard not only to be a leader in the community but to form other leaders and inspire Latinos to reach their full potential. I base my actions on faith and eliminate fear. I move forward BOLD and confident and even though sometimes our goals are high and difficult, I never give up.”

After seven years in the market in Boulder County, Nissa is unsurpris-ingly generous with great advice for anyone getting their start in the business here. Be a master of your own craft, she says, and constantly

study the market. “Perform your business with service in mind. It’s not about how much you can make; it’s about how much value you can offer.” Nissa will tell you that when times are rough and you feel stuck, there’s a simple solution: Be intentional about cultivating positivity and confidence. Surround yourself with successful and like-minded people. Know your strengths and your weaknesses.

Local Insight

So what is happening in the Boulder County luxury housing market lately? Hall has observed that when the market shifts, lower price ranges are usually most affected. With interest rates going up, some people’s buying power is gone, but generally, the buyers and sellers in a luxury market know how to manage money, have a variety of investments, and aren’t hurt too badly if a home takes a bit longer to sell than it might have a year ago.

Boulder remains very desirable for many reasons and, as Nissa says, “beach prices with mountains instead.”

Education, Hall reckons, is a key to helping people’s fears about buying and selling disappear. For example, when a buyer freaks out at a 5- or 6-percent interest rate, she’ll challenge them to remember what they are paying in rent and move forward on a sale. Then when rates come down, she may encourage them to consider refinancing, having earned some equity along the way.

This remarkable REALTOR® hopes to embark on missions work someday, build ing homes and helping provide medicine and clean water where it’s needed in the world. “Service makes me who I am and brings meaning to my life,” Nissa explains.

Get in touch with Nissa Hall at 720-425-4870 or nissa@porchlightgroup.com.

“I am a constant student. I crave knowledge and improve ment. I am always investing in myself and moving forward not only in my career but in all areas of my life. I know that with my knowledge and skill, I can confidently serve my clients at the highest level.”

CARYN LYNDSEY

BIG BETH

She’s a go-getter, bold and loves the color yellow. She’s also Lyndsey’s pride and joy. Big Beth is the 16-foot, box moving truck The Geiger Group purchased 12 days after the Marshall fire to help families in need put their lives back together. That same day, she took Big Beth to Blackstone in Aurora to get furni ture, clothing, bedding and more from more than 25 families. Then she took the load to Louisville Storage, where she was gifted a unit to use while helping fire victims. Not to be outdone, 36 families in The Prospect New Town Neighborhood in Longmont stepped up too, and Lyndsey and Big Beth needed a second truck to gather all of the donations with the help of her long-time Monarch alumni and former cheer sister Val Hufner.

“We were filled to the brim and had to wait for people to find housing,” says Lyndsey. So with help, she started sorting. Diapers and baby items went to A Precious Child, and big items required people to make an appointment to shop and pick up. Clothing went to her mom’s liv ing and dining room where they set up a personal shopping expe rience. Lyndsey says, “A lot of people don’t like to ask for help.”

To combat feelings of embarrass ment and shame around needing assistance, Lyndsey and Caryn kept the shopping experience as intimate as possible.

A MOTHER AND DUO

ON A MISSION

It will take a long time to rebuild what was damaged in the Marshall fire. Although Caryn’s home was spared, neither was untouched by the devastation. Thankfully, both women are go-getters and helpers, just like Big Beth, and immediately got to work helping their beloved community heal.

GIRLS’ NIGHT OUT & OTHER EVENTS

Caryn has always marketed her business through events. Ten years ago, she started Girls’ Night Out with the slogan, “If Mama’s not happy, no one is.” This is a group for women in business to support other women in business. They bring in female speakers from travel agents to organizers to talk about everything from interior

bartender teaches guests how to make a new cocktail and everyone gets to enjoy great food, conversation and connecting. Caryn likes to feature a local artist friend at these events to give female-owned businesses the chance to promote their business and expand.

And then there are the events Caryn’s made happen for the Superior Chamber the school year.

HOW THE GEIGERS CAME TO REAL ESTATE

Another event Caryn stated is the Superior Town-Wide Garage Sale. She has a website where people can create a listing for their garage sale that includes their top three items, and the whole event is free to participate in. On average, there are 200-250 garage sales each year she hosts the event.

Caryn moved to Boulder County in 1997 for her then-husband’s work. Before they chose a place to settle down, they drove the whole metro

area using a small atlas. They settled on a new construction project in Superior, CO, which sounds like serendipity since she grew up in the small, quaint town of Superior, NE. Caryn says, “We stayed for the weather, no humidity, and beautiful win ters.” Because they didn’t know anyone and their house was one of the first in the Rock Creek neighborhood, they started a social club. The Rock Creek Rendezvous eventu ally became an exclusive event and was the start of Caryn’s massive network.

In Nebraska, Caryn worked in sales and marketing for an HMO health-care insur ance, but talk of changes in the industry and fresh start in a new place gave her the chance to do something new. She and her then-husband were interested in buying real estate for an investment, so she got her license. Twenty years later, she’s still going strong with a 99% referral rate.

Lyndsey was lucky to have grown up in Boulder County, but she did move to New York City and Philadelphia for six years while working in sales for the adult beverage indus try. She launched St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur in the Colorado market by introduc ing the cocktail at one of her mother’s Sizzling Summer Cocktail events. It was a huge suc cess! Both at the party and in the state.

Despite her talents in adult beverage distri bution, Lyndsey knew she couldn’t live in Colorado and continue in her current role. National accounts are mainly based on the coasts, not in the mountains. So she chose to move back home to be closer to family. Thanks to some of her mom’s (and her own) connections, Lyndsey was able to get into new construction sales. She’d grown up watching her mom build and develop a business, so she felt comfortable in the real estate industry and says, “New construction

taught me what my mom couldn’t teach me.” Now she gets to work with her mom in an industry they both love daily.

REAL ESTATE NOW

Now, with Lyndsey’s new construc tion experience, she enjoys navigating first-time homebuyers through their new home purchase journey. They may have smaller price points, but they are so excited throughout the process. She says working with first-time home buyers “you are dream-fulfilling... It’s humbling and heartwarming.” Recently, she helped a couple in their 40s become the first people in their family to own a home. Lyndsey pops by on occasion and is happy to report they have built a deck and clearly love and take care of their home. Her biggest compliment as a REALTOR® is when friends and family recommend their friends and family. She calls her clients “framily” and likes to stay engaged with them consistently throughout the year.

In the future, Lyndsey sees more people investing in real estate, especially Millennials and Generation Z who view it as less volatile than the stock market. She says, “With real estate, you become your own bank and can borrow from your properties. She wishes she had invested early in the market like her brother did in 2013.

Caryn has been in the top 25 in sales volume for Boulder County the last 10 years and just recently with Lyndsey’s encouragement made the change to Compass. She is community-driven, which has led to 99% of her clients com ing to her through referrals. To her, real estate is about developing relationships and being a connector; it’s not about transactions. This is why she doesn’t consider the events she participates in to build her business “work.”

Soon, Caryn believes we are heading to a balanced market with six months of inventory and leaving the seller market we’ve been in for 10 years. She says, “Sellers are going to have to adjust to a new normal where buyers want the inspections and appraisals they should have been getting all along.”

The exhilarating scent of pizza wafted throughout the kitchen of her home; Kelly McCallister’s gluten-free creation (“You have to be gluten-free if you live in Boulder,” she says with humor) was part of a former successful business. Her infamous pizza-crust recipe consisted of brown rice, buckwheat, sorghum, tapioca, coconut flour, apple sauce, garlic salt, yeast and water. The business? The Gluten Free Bistro. Perfect for Boulderites and even Erieites or surrounding other-ites. A taste sensation!

When laid off in 2009, in the depths of the Great Recession, Kelly took $600 of savings to bake this pizza crust for the masses and sell her delicious, mouth-watering products to Whole Foods and several local restau rants. After expanding the company to 30 states of distribution, she sold her gluten-free company in 2015.

Raised in Carmel, IN (where inter estingly the town name could be associated with food), Kelly’s mom

was a great role model who moti vated her love of food by teaching her to cook health-conscious dishes. At the age of 18, Kelly’s friend invited her to live in Vail. Kelly moved to East Vail with $200 in her pocket and a suitcase of clothes. She imme diately fell in love with the moun tains and never looked back.

She is a true Mother Nature lover and believes in taking loving care of the earth. This inspires her to teach kids to grow organic food and edu cate them on why it’s so vital to eat well. Currently, she volunteers with GardentoTable.org, a nonprofit that creates a school curriculum to bring science and math together, weaving them into working with the outdoor growing garden at her son’s school. Through this volunteer work, she worked with a team to develop Garden Club, an afterschool program where children rock paint, build a garden sensory table and create chalk

sidewalk drawings. This is a way of engaging and involving the kids in nature and gardening which emanates from Kelly’s love of food and mother nature. A perfect synergy.

While working in the Colorado food and hospitality industry, she sold wine, and the man of her dreams appeared to her to buy wine. He was a buyer for a Provençal restaurant and she sold a well-established French portfolio of Bordeaux, Champagne, and Burgundy wines. They got to know each other through their shared interest of food, wine and hospital ity — and a few champagne tastings. They were both hooked! Kelly and her husband have been together for 16 grateful, happy years and have a 10-year-old son, who is in fifth grade with a green belt in karate. The Boulder Karate Dojo has been a big part of their lives since their son started kindergarten. He has his eye on achieving his black belt in Shaolin Kempo

Karate. In one of the photos, he shows off his moves by kicking toward the camera.

Kelly enjoys donating to Greenhouse Scholars with every closing. It’s a great organization that gives full-ride college schol arships to underprivileged high school graduates. In addition, she donates to Salute Colorado, an organization that supports vets reentering our communities in Colorado. This is in honor of her dad, a former marine, and her grandfather, who served during World War II.

Her grandfather, a former army medic, grew up among six sib lings and their mother insisted that everyone learn how to sew from a very young age. When her grandfather enlisted in the army, a sergeant asked if anyone could sew and, as it turned out, he was the only one. Because of his sewing skill, he spent his time suturing up wounded soldiers.

Kelly says that Colorado is her “forever home.” She loves the community, raising her family here and shares the same thought of the majority who reside here: we are living in one of the most beautiful places on earth. KELLY 303-517-5524
