Little did he know how his love for the outdoors and assisting his grandfather would later deliver him to his calling. Soaking up facts like a sponge, Alex found himself obsessed with becoming the most intelligent person he could be. Wanting to be prodded to new heights, a light bulb lit above his head when his friend mentioned a specific school he might consider – the St. Andrew’s boarding school in Middletown, Delaware. Alex jumped at the idea and approached his parents. Always supportive of his aspirations, they helped make his wish become a reality for his sophomore year of high school when he was accepted into the very school where the movie “Dead Poets Society” was filmed.
Structure was king to Alex, as he settled into rising early (very early) in the mornings to row with his mates in a lovely, wooded setting blessed by Mother Nature herself. It was here that he came to know the beauty of preservation, which led to a major in envi-ronmental studies when he enrolled at the University of Vermont –a definite shift left of gaining the degree in finance his father had hoped for him so that he could join him in his financial advisory business.
Accomplished and excited about the future, Alex D’Allaird has found home at LIV Sotheby’s International Realty in Boulder.
There’s something to be said for fresh air and sunshine allowing for clarity of thought and determination. Raised in Pennsylvania farm country with plenty of room to roam, Alex D’Allaird spent a lot of his youth outside in nature, climbing trees and even climbing the occasional barn. Visiting his grandfather’s workshop frequently, he was also drawn to construction at an early age. “I loved the country life, and I was always outside and just loving life,” he states.
Finding himself in Vermont, Alex resumed his love of climbing and dabbling in singer-songwriting activities. While there, a situation arose where his landlord fell into a coma after medical complications, resulting in a concern beyond the obvious due to the landlord’s wife having dementia and not being able to take on the duties of her husband. Having a background in construction from his farm days and genuinely desiring to help her, he stepped up to take on his newest role as property manager of three properties in exchange for free rent. He became curious about real estate when he found a broker to sell one of those properties.
After graduation, he moved back home to Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, holding a detailed business plan for a rock climbing gym from a year-long college course. He shared the plan with his father, who saw such merit in it that he purchased a parcel of land to assist his son with his dream. The geotechnical survey stages then began, assessing the soil for such a large structure. Lo and behold, during this survey it was found that the original metes and bounds map made the property double the size of what they thought it would be. Recognizing a tremendous opportunity, his
father immediately subdivided the land and sold it, pocketing an instant $200k profit. The inspiration took hold and Alex was sold on real estate. He was gifted a cut from the sale by his father and soon he headed to Boulder, Colorado to begin a career in real estate.

listened. He was incredibly knowledgeable. He has clearly done his research and works hard to be an expert in his market. Any question we had was either thoroughly answered immediately, or soon after Alex went and did some research. He was patient and not pushy. We told Alex that we were in no rush, and even though he knew we may not buy a home for 6 months to a year was understanding and attentive. Then, when our priorities shifted and we decided to pursue an entirely different type of home, he was flexible and adapted quickly. At no point did I feel any pressure from Alex, which helped me trust him when he did suggest moving forward based on the deal we had. Lastly, he was a strong advocate for us as buyers. He helped us get a good deal by understanding the home, the market, and reading into the seller’s position. I will absolutely work with Alex again for future home purchases/sales and would recommend him to my closest friends and family.
-Garrett Collier & Kristina DavisAlex D’Allaird at LIV Sotheby’s made a quick sale of our 67-year-old house, and we received two offers at asking price on the first day of its listing. His advice on what to update for maximum return on investment was spot on. A little money spent on his recommendations got us $10,000 more than we could have received without those improvements to increase curb appeal and update the interior. Alex handled negotiations with the buyer’s agent and kept request for changes to the property to a minimum cost and we sold close to our asking price. Alex was always available to answer questions by telephone and in person. He and staff coordinated final agreements with the buyers and made final agreements and closing a breeze. We recommend Alex to anyone looking to buy or sell a home.
-Steven & Judy BushAlex is truly the best agent we have ever worked with, and our challenging home purchase would never have happened without him. He went above and beyond expectations in contacting county officials, contractors, and his interactions with the seller’s agent. We feel truly blessed to have had him on our side and working so diligently and expertly to make our forever home purchase a reality! We cannot recommend him highly enough!
