Wellesley’s Assets and Initiatives » Innovative Local Government. Some of Wellesley’s largest employers have been burdened by the pandemic and resulting recession. Total unemployment has risen to 9.2%. » Threat to survival of small businesses as a result of COVID-19. » Education Funding. Like other towns, Wellesley’s town and education budgets are severely strained by lost town and state revenue due to the pandemic.

Alan Khazei is not a politician - he is a movement leader who co-founded City Year and led the national service movement to launch, protect and grow AmeriCorps. Alan is ready on Day One to lead the effort in Congress to protect our environment, ensure affordable healthcare for all, stop gun violence, address racial injustice and restore the American Dream for working families.

Alan’s Plan for Wellesley was built by listening to the people of Wellesley. In Congress, Alan will: Institute an emergency paid leave program for educational professionals, parents, and working students. Address the spike in unemployment through a Federal Jobs Guarantee including expanding AmeriCorps and providing Emergency Wage Support to save small businesses and keep people on the payroll. Help restore education funding by passing the Heroes Act in Congress to secure $9,766,362 in funding for Wellesley. Create a Wellesley Congressional Advisory Board to stay connected to local issues in Wellesley and ensure stakeholder voices are heard in Washington.
