Medway’s Assets and Initiatives

Medway’s Challenges

» The Medway Public School System recently released its strategic plan, a 21-page document outlining the plan to achieve excellence for all students in MPSS by the year 2024.

» T ransportation. Medway has no direct form of public transportation in the town, as it has no Commuter Rail station or a dedicated stop on the MetroWest RTA bus service.

» Friends of Choate and Oakland Parks help maintain open green spaces for recreational use. Residents use the parks to picnic, take walks, and play various sports.

» Small Business Preservation. The economic impact of the recent pandemic has brought to light the need for both short-term and long-term assistance to local business.

» Since 2009, The Medway Community Farm has brought Medway residents together to better their community, growing and selling produce and educating on sustainability.

» Possible Teacher and Town Employee Layoffs. As a result of falling tax revenue due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Medway may need to lay off employees.

» M edway took robust actions to ensure clean drinking water for its residents. For their effort, the town was awarded Systems Taking Action to Reduce Lead Award from the Massachusetts DEP.

» Climate Change. Falling within the Charles River Basin, Medway is susceptible to environmental impacts due to climate change.

Alan Khazei is not a politician - he is a movement leader who co-founded City Year and led the national service movement to launch, protect and grow AmeriCorps. Alan is ready on Day One to lead the effort in Congress to protect our environment, ensure affordable healthcare for all, stop gun violence, address racial injustice and restore the American Dream for working families.

Alan’s Plan for Medway was built by listening to the people of Medway. In Congress, Alan will: Push to invest more in our bus systems to reduce last and first mile traffic by and expanding routes and making bus cycles more frequent. Support small businesses by proposing a small business hiring credit and accelerated depreciation of capital investment for small businesses that hire new workers. Dedicate funding streams to help further support women, minority, and veteran owned small businesses. Address teacher layoffs and retirements by passing the Heroes Act in Congress to secure $4.419,269 in funding for Medway, enough to restore lost positions. Create a Medway Congressional Advisory Board to stay connected to local issues in Medway and ensure stakeholder voices are heard in Washington.
