Medfield’s Assets and Initiatives » The Affordable Housing Trust helps create affordable and community housing for low and moderate-income households, including 17 new single family homes at Allendale. » The Medfield Council on Aging provides services and resources to elderly residents of The Center at Medfield including reliable transportation to the Center. » Medfield Youth Outreach is a town department that serves children and their families with individual and family counseling, financial assistance programs, and crisis intervention. » The Medfield Historical Society is a nonprofit organization that aims to preserve, collect and share Medfield’s history and its historical sites.

Medfield’s Challenges » Lack of Affordable Housing. 82% of extremely low-income families in Medfield are rent-burdened, and residents are finding it difficult to keep up with rising home expenses. » Low Youth Civic Engagement. Some residents want to see more youth involvement in local and national government so their voices can be heard. » Unemployment and Small Business Support. Medfield’s unemployment rate has risen to 12.4% in 2020. » Decreased Funding of Public Schools. The education system is a central asset of the town and many of the citizens are worried about potential budget cuts and layoffs due to the covid-19 pandemic.

Alan Khazei is not a politician - he is a movement leader who co-founded City Year and led the national service movement to launch, protect and grow AmeriCorps. Alan is ready on Day One to lead the effort in Congress to protect our environment, ensure affordable healthcare for all, stop gun violence, address racial injustice and restore the American Dream for working families.

Alan’s Plan for Medfield was built by listening to the people of Medfield. In Congress, Alan will: Extend the federal moratorium on evictions for the duration of the pandemic. Address the spike in unemployment through a Federal Jobs Guarantee including expanding AmeriCorps and providing Emergency Wage Support to save small businesses and keep people on the payroll. Help restore education funding by passing the Heroes Act in Congress to secure $4,247,132 in funding for Medfield. Create a Medfield Congressional Advisory Board to stay connected to local issues in Medfield and ensure stakeholder voices are heard in Washington.
