Mansfield’s Assets and Initiatives » Xfinity Center is an outdoor amphitheatre located in Mansfield, and holds events including concerts, festivals, and others from mid May until late September. » Mansfield’s Ten-Year Master Plan exemplifies local government at its best. It calls for the expansion of the town’s park system, the alteration of zoning practices to increase access to affordable housing, and greater investment in downtown businesses. » Mansfield’s “Greenways” are a system of parks and trails linking all of Mansfield’s recreational areas. Residents fond of running, biking, or walking use the Greenways, for both commuting and recreation.

Mansfield’s Challenges » Education Funding. Mansfield’s schools lack funding for special programs and extracurricular activities and are under increased stress due to falling tax revenues during the pandemic. » Lack of Public Transit. Mansfield residents would like to see the town serviced more frequently by a comprehensive regional rail system that links it with Boston and Providence. » Conserving Greenspaces. Residents are concerned that there is not a plan in place to protect its natural resources and greenspaces from overdevelopment. » Unemployment Caused by the COVID-19 Pandemic. The number of unemployed Mansfield residents has skyrocketed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. In July, the town’s unemployment rate was 15.7%.

Alan Khazei is not a politician - he is a movement leader who co-founded City Year and led the national service movement to launch, protect and grow AmeriCorps. Alan is ready on Day One to lead the effort in Congress to protect our environment, ensure affordable healthcare for all, stop gun violence, address racial injustice and restore the American Dream for working families.

Alan’s Plan for Mansfield was built by listening to the people of Mansfield. In Congress, Alan will: Help restore education funding by passing the Heroes Act in Congress to secure $7,919,927 in funding for Mansfield. Fight to include funding in a new infrastructure bill to electrify the public transportation grid in the Southeast and accelerate the construction of South Coast rail. Address the spike in unemployment through a Federal Jobs Guarantee including expanding AmeriCorps and providing Emergency Wage Support to save small businesses and keep people on the payroll. Create a Mansfield Congressional Advisory Board to stay connected to local issues in Mansfield and ensure stakeholder voices are heard in Washington.
