Lakeville’s Assets and Initiatives » The Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District staff have been working to alleviate floodwater impacts in Lakeville. » The Lakeville Energy Advisory Committee brought Lakeville designation as a “Green Community” and a state government grant. » The Freetown Lakeville Regional School District is a high-performing school system serving the children and youth of Lakeville. » The Lakeville Public Library. In the pandemic, the library quickly transitioned to address the community’s needs, offering virtual programs for all ages and curbside pickup.

Lakeville’s Challenges » Education Funding. Lakeville’s school budget is under enormous stress due to falling tax revenues during the pandemic. » Accommodating Population Growth. The rising population of Lakeville brings with it challenges concerning schools, public health, and septic maintenance. » Climate Change. Residents voiced concerns about climate change and the flooding, storms, increased insect populations, and other consequences that accompany it. » Unemployment caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Unemployment in Lakeville increased from 2.9% in June 2019 to 16.3% in June 2020.

In Congress, Alan will: Help restore education funding by passing the Heroes Act in Congress to secure $3,758,040in funding for Lakeville. Work to pass a comprehensive infrastructure bill that secures major funding to rebuild roads, transit, and water treatment facilities and repair crumbling infrastructure. Support a Green New Deal to combat Climate Change by accelerating a just transition away from fossil fuels and create millions of clean energy jobs. Create a Lakeville Congressional Advisory Board to stay connected to local issues in Lakeville and ensure stakeholder voices are heard in Washington.
