Lakeville’s Assets and Initiatives » The Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District staff have been working to alleviate floodwater impacts in Lakeville. » The Lakeville Energy Advisory Committee brought Lakeville designation as a “Green Community” and a state government grant. » The Freetown Lakeville Regional School District is a high-performing school system serving the children and youth of Lakeville. » The Lakeville Public Library. In the pandemic, the library quickly transitioned to address the community’s needs, offering virtual programs for all ages and curbside pickup.
Lakeville’s Challenges » Education Funding. Lakeville’s school budget is under enormous stress due to falling tax revenues during the pandemic. » Accommodating Population Growth. The rising population of Lakeville brings with it challenges concerning schools, public health, and septic maintenance. » Climate Change. Residents voiced concerns about climate change and the flooding, storms, increased insect populations, and other consequences that accompany it. » Unemployment caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
