Dighton’s Assets and Initiatives » The Dighton Historical Society is a valued organization, led by Chris Pacheco, that seeks to protect and preserve the rich history of Dighton. » CodeRED is a free community notification system relaying time-sensitive or emergency information to residents. » The Dighton Lions Club operates a local food pantry and is currently assisting food insecure families through the distribution of gift cards. » The Dighton Council on Aging aims to promote, evaluate, and encourage new and existing activities and services which will enhance the quality of life of elders living in the Town of Dighton.
Dighton’s Challenges » Education Funding. Dighton’s school budget is under enormous stress due to falling tax revenues during the pandemic. » Small Business Development. In Dighton there is very little commercial development, which would boost the local economy and diversify the tax base. » Transportation. Despite geographical proximity to several cities, highway access and access to public transportation in Dighton is limited which makes commutes more difficult. » Climate Change. Residents identify climate change as an economic and environmental threat that must be addressed.

In Congress, Alan will: Help restore education funding by passing the Heroes Act in Congress to secure $2,597,188 in funding for Dighton. Support small businesses by proposing a small business hiring credit and accelerated depreciation of capital investment for small businesses that hire new workers. Fight to include funding in a new infrastructure bill to electrify the public transportation grid in the Southeast and accelerate the construction of South Coast rail to spur economic development, tourism, and clean energy jobs across the 4th district. Create a Dighton Congressional Advisory Board to stay connected to local issues in Dighton and ensure stakeholder voices are heard in Washington.
