Brookline’s Assets and Initiatives » Capital Improvement Program. Allows Brookline to use its assets to build education funding and make the most from its town budget. » Hospitals. Some of the nation’s leading hospitals employ a large number of Brookline residents and provide quality care to thousands of patients. » Historical sites. Brookline has a rich history embedded in fascinating sites reaching from before the colonial era to the late 20th century. » Education. Brookline is home to many higher education institutions and one of the finest public school systems in Massachusetts.

Brookline’s Challenges » Education Funding. Brookline’s school budget is under enormous stress due to falling tax revenues during the pandemic. » Affordable Housing. As a largely highincome town, Brookline struggles to provide housing access to those of all income ranges. » Multi-modal Transit Development. Despite its proximity, Brookline residents do not enjoy easy access to Boston due to inadequacies in the transportation system. » Funding for Community Centers. Brookline faces challenges in uniting its diverse population largely due to a lack of accessible spaces open to all members of the community.

Alan Khazei is not a politician - he is a movement leader who co-founded City Year and led the national service movement to launch, protect and grow AmeriCorps. Alan’s Plan for Brookline was built by listening to the people of Brookline. In Congress, Alan will: Help restore education funding by passing the Heroes Act in Congress to secure $65,634,127 in funding for Brookline. Support the Common Sense Housing Investment Act, increasing funding for housing programs with reforms to the mortgage interest tax deduction. Secure federal funding for TSP, traffic signal changing technology that will shorten commute time on buses and the C Line in Brookline. Provide funding for an attached community performing arts center at the Pierce School.
