Hey Key Clubbers,

Governor Khijani here with an update! Though we don't celebrate Halloween, its still the spookiest month of the year. The month in which we have Trick or Treat for UNICEF. I'm encouraging all clubs to get involved and support this very important cause, to help the children of Zambia.

The month of October is filled with lots of activities as clubs would have resumed meetings and began service projects. It's also Breast Cancer Awareness month, we encourge clubs to play their part and spread awareness. Personally, one of my most memorable Key Club moments, is the Pink Run where we do a 5K for this cause.

I am sure you all know its DUES SEASON, I continue to encourage all clubs to get your members paid. Let's work together in achieving the goal of 6000 paid members. Keep the momentum going as we serve our homes, schools and communities.

YOURS IN SERVICE,

"If you're going through hell, keep going." ~ Winston Churchill

During the month of October, we saw the hosting of members of the Caribbean-Atlantic District including District Governor, Shomicha Jackson, here in Jamaica. This was through a cultural exchange programme between the Campion College (Jamaica) and Harrison College (Barbados)

Along the margins of this exchange programme, we saw the hosting of a Joint Key Club Meeting led by the Campion College Key Club which saw Governor Khijani Williams and other member of the KCJA District Board, getting the opportunity to interact with and present special tokens to members of the delegation.

This interaction further solidified the bond between both Districts who share many similarities, as they are both International Districts.

TRICK-OR-TREAT FOR UNICEF TRICK-OR-TREAT FOR UNICEF keyclubinternational

Key Club International is thrilled to announce our newest partnership with UNICEF Start Strong: Zambia. Members around the world will raise money to help young children in this southeastern African nation have the best start at life possible.

Through early childhood, the brain grows at an amazing rate, with 90% of its development completed by age 5 But in Zambia, three out of four first-grade students aren’t ready for school because they haven’t received proper nutrition, health care and learning opportunities.

You’ll be proud to know Key Club is making a difference by supporting UNICEF efforts to:

Build innovative community centers called Insakas with spaces for children to learn and play, a community kitchen, playground, water and sanitation facilities and a vegetable garden

Train community-based volunteers, health care providers and teachers to work with parents to create nurturing and stimulating environments for young children. Provide age-appropriate toys such as blocks, stringing beads and books to encourage development and strengthen bonds between parents and children.

Key Club is excited to welcome Builders Club as partners in raising money and awareness for this cause!

Thanks to you, children in Zambia will grow up happier, healthier and better educated. And you won’t just be helping these children you’ll be creating long-term change in an entire country.

They approached a neighboring Kiwanis club to help charter a similar club for service at their high school. The club was comprised of the key boys in the school, willing to serve the school in any way possible and to create better school spirit – hence the name Key Club. In 1943, Key Club reached international status and Malcolm Lewis became the 1st president

INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS PREFERRED CHARITIES

VISION PARTNERS

MAJOR EMPHASIS

In 1946, the organization was challenged to build a program to bring together all Key Clubs and members to focus energies on making an international impact This program is still followed today through the Major Emphasis: Children: Their Future, Our Focus.

To fulfill the Major Emphasis, Key Club International serves children in many ways. By working with Key Club International's partner organizations, Key Clubs serve children by aiding other organizations committed to serving children. Key Club International celebrates its three partnerships: UNICEF, March of Dimes, and Children's Miracle Network.

The Key Club service initiative is another element of the Major Emphasis and is created on a two-year basis. All of the hands-on service provided to children by Key Club International members is directed to a single area of need, to make a substantial impact.
