Trainer of the Month Coach Jill
Tell us about yourself!
Hi everyone – Jill here! I joined Kersey’s just over a year ago. I was getting bored of a my at-home workouts. I wanted something that would motivate and push me. I realized that I love group classes and the encouragement that they bring. Fast forward to today, you’ll find me leading classes on Thursday nights!
Coaching was never something that I thought was in the cards for me. Even though I’m an elementary school teacher, it was out of my comfort zone to be the one guiding people through their workout. I figured if I hated it, then I would just go back to joining the classes. Turns out – I love coaching! My favourite part of coaching kickboxing is hearing that members had a good workout from my class. I love the mix of on the bag rounds and weights at the end of class.
What I’m looking forward to this summer:
1. Planning for my wedding! I’m getting married this October and love the behind-the-scenes design process.
2. Family walks! I love the time that morning and evening walks give us to connect and have meaningful conversations.
3. Joining the morning classes at Kersey’s!
4. Happy hour! My favourite part of summer is spending an afternoon/ evening with family and friends.
5. Gardening! We moved to a new house over the winter and enjoy planning new landscaping ideas.
The Perfect Summer At-Home Workout

WARM UP: 20-minute walk outside! Whether it be with your pup, solo, or with your family, get your steps in with some sunshine.
2 rounds – 45 seconds of work, 15 seconds of rest
UPPER BODY:
1. Arnold Press: Raise the dumbbells to shoulder level with palms facing towards you. Rotate arms into a shoulder press position, then push up until your arms are fully extended. Your palms should now be facing forwards.
2. Bent Over Row: Bend your knees slightly while keeping your back straight, and elbows close to your body, row the dumbbells towards your chest, squeezing your back muscles. Slowly lower to the starting position.
LOWER BODY:
Work the right side round 1 and the left side round 2.
1. Single-Leg Deadlift: Keep your arms straight so the dumbbells are lowering directly in front of the planted leg. Kickstand the opposite foot.
2. Offset Air Squat: Rack one dumbbell on a shoulder and lower into an air squat. Keep the dumbbell racked.
FULL BODY:
1. Back Lunge with Bicep Curl: Start with the dumbbells at your side. Step back into a back lunge and complete a bicep curl with both arms.
2. Deadlift + Pull: Keep your arms straight so the dumbbells are lowering directly in front of both legs. Pull the dumbbells to your chest height (T-position).
FINISHER:
5 - 10 minutes of your favourite core exercises & stretch!
Switch up your workout from time to time and take advantage of the warm weather!
1. SWIMMING: Even if you’re not a lap swimmer, grab a kickboard and dive on in.
2. SUP/CANOE/KAYAK: If you enjoy outdoor exercises but it’s steamy hot, being on the water provides a respite from the heat and works all kinds of muscles.
3. BIKING: Think back to your childhood where you rode your bike aimlessly around the neighbourhood. Bike to your local ice-cream shop!
4. OUTDOOR WALK: Windsor-Essex has so many great trails! Some of my favourites are: The Ganatchio Trail, Black Oak Heritage Park, and Ojibway.

On Saturday, June 22nd, our incredible coaches joined the 10:30 am class for a special circut. Each station had their own coach to encourage, assist and pump up our Kersey fam!
