Veiled strength

As someone who enjoys experimenting with colours, In my painting ”A fire burst" I used all of the acrylic paint colours I had available. The warm and cool colours of the dragon and the background create a lovely contrast, variety, and harmony.

The dragon, fire, as well as the emphasis put through the orange and blue complementary colors symbolize the power of inner strength.

The use of little white dots throughout the painting creates subtle detailing on the dragon's body that adds complexity to the picture and makes the dragon stand out a lot more while also bringing all the colours together nicely.

Imprisoned

Society often establishes unrealistic and unhealthy beauty standards for women, which constantly changes because of a different perception on what it means to be "beautiful".

My drawing “Imprisoned” depicts the idea of adapting to the pressures of the fabricated beauty norms by changing oneself and still not feeling content. The girl who is fully dressed up with makeup seems drowning in her thoughts, sees the world around her grey, dark, burdening, and her reflection in the water shows prison bars viewed inside her eyes.

Several elements and principals of design were used such as the elements of colour in her hair and makeup, texture of the roughness of the buildings symbolizing society surrounding her, as well as the principals of emphasis between light and dark, and variety.
