Urban Planning project on Sketchup

For my class’s SketchUp urban planning project I wanted to design something aesthetically pleasing while still respecting the criteria given by my teacher.

I had several design iterations before reaching to my Final one. My chosen design provides shade, uses durable materials such as the wooden roof, and has plexiglass between the green roof to bring in sunlight, while giving protection from rain and snow. The penetration of the sun rays from the plexiglass and green roof creates an interesting checkered pattern.

The design has a sloped roof to slide the snow and rain; plant vines wrapped around each pole to create an eco-friendly feel; safe and fun tunnels for kids to play in; as well as stairs and a ramp for people with disabilities or small kids who need a stroller, and lastly the solar panels are in a shape of a leaf which mimics nature to give harmony.
