What makes the No-Code Platform sounique?
Many of you are already familiarwith our Low-Code tools. We’vetaken things a step further by creating a No-Code Platform specifically designed for solution architects and business analysts with little tono coding experience.
To begin with, we’d like to highlight the unique advantages of our No-Code Platform and how it differs fromLow-Code solutions. Unlike Low-Code, which still requires some traditional development practices like object creation and manual coding, No-Code takes an entirely differentapproach. It introducesa workflow-driven, drag-and-drop, and configuration-based canvas, enabling users to build robust web applications—easily adaptable for mobile—without writing asingle line of code.
First Quantum Minerals JDE Superintendent, Rudolph Horn, has successfully implemented many projects over the last 8 years with the K-Rise team & our EASYProcess No-Code / LowCode App Dev Platform.
“Combining No-code & Low-code technology to develop apps allows us to deploy resources in the activities most suitedto them. Our JDE Developers, trained in both technologies, focus on the Low-Code IDE with developing complex functions in the
Whatis the goal of this process?
Who needs to interact with it, and in what order?
Whatapprovals or actions are required?
Traditional Low-Code development still follows a screen-by-screen approach, requiringiterative testing and deployment. No-Code begins with workflows and logic, making them the core of development and ensuring alignment with real business needs.
Understanding Business Processes
As solution architects and business analysts, you probably are already aware of the fact knowthat everything within an enterprise operates through business processes. A business process is a series of structured tasks designed to achieve a specific outcome—whether it’s master data management, employee onboarding, vendor interactions, or asset tracking. Even something as routine as updating a category code in JD Edwards can be a business process, especially when multiple approvals or users are involved.
Consider vendor management:
A vendor acknowledginga purchase order
Submittingan invoice
Requestingupdates to banking details
Each of these actions follows a defined business process, requiring structured workflows to incre ase efficiency, reduce errors, and improve collaboration. No-Code platforms make this automation fast, scalable, and intuitive.
The Futureof No-CodeDevelopment
No-Code is transforming the way applicationsare built, empoweringnon-developerstocreate enterprise-grade app solutions with ease. It enables teams to eliminate app development backlogs, streamline processes, and drive digital transformation—all without writing code.
K-Rise No-Code Offers:
A No-CodeWeb IDE that allows non-technical users to develop JDE-integrated web and mobile apps with confidence.
A modern, rapid prototyping and development platform that helps internal teams eliminate backlogs and accelerate innovation.
Significant cost savings by reducing reliance on third-party development services through an in-house, selfsufficient approach.
As you explore No-Code development, you’ll realize that every aspect of your enterprise is built on processes—ready to be automated, optimized, and streamlined. With K-Rise’s No-Code / LowCode Platform, bringing these processes to life has never been easier!

Tell us a little about yourself.Wheredid you grow up,go to high school, go to college, etc…
I was born and raised in Chicago. I went to Lincoln Park High School, followed by Wilbur Wright College, before getting my computer engineering degree at UIC.
Tell us a little about your lifeoutside of work (Family, hobbies, etc…)
I have a wife that I have been with for 11 years (married for 5) and a 1.5-year-old son. I enjoy spending my free time either gaming or tinkering. I have several unfinished personal projects related to home improvement, engineering, or programming that I jump between whenever I can find the time to.
Whatinspired you to become a software developer, and how did you get started in the field?
It started with my love of video games growing up and wanting to be a video game developer. Over time though, I realized that I was more interested in working with the logic of the game itself rather than trying to make an actual game. That led me to study computer hardware and programming languages in school before finally getting started in my software development career.
What s your favorite programming language or technology stac k, and why?
It’s difficult to come up with a favorite as I enjoy the variety of options that each require you to think about a problem in different ways. I most frequently use C#, JS, XSLT, and SQL. They are each optimized for different needs, and getting them to work together to complete a task is one of the things I en joy about being a software developer.
Can you share a particularly challengingproject you worked on and how you overcame the obstacles?
One of my projects was to create a custom expression syntax that could be managed with a GUI and alsobe converted into the appropriate syntax based on what the expression is to be used for. I had to handle possible infinite recursion, math expressions, and parsing it in 2 different programming languages. I mostly found that documenting the design in language-agnostic detail and perseverance helped the most. By describing the design in a way that made the most sense to me, I was better able to find solutions and minimize inconsistencies between the 2 language implementations.
What’s a common misconception people have about software development?
How much time it takes. Even when it’s easy to come up with the logic needed for something to work, the actual implementation almost always comes with unpredictable nuances that you can only figure out by actually doing it. They say that the last 20% of anything is 80% of the effort, and software development is no exception. It’s a common occurrence for developers to miss predicted deadlines just because of how difficult it is to accurately predict it.
How do you stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in software development?
Mostly by just keeping various things up-to-date and reading changelogs or related documentation. Beyond that, I try to keep in touch with other developers and discuss the latest goings-on. Essentially, it’s not something that I do proactively and instead is something done more passively as I continue to pursue progress in my own projects.
What role does No-Code/Low-Code development play in modern software engineering?
While software development at times can almost feel like exploring a new frontier, the reality is that it is also full of tedium where the same things need to be done again and again, but slightly differently each time. I believe that No-Code/Low-Code can be used to streamline some of the more common processes while also making it more accessible to those that have a grasp on the needed concepts for what they want to do but lack the technical know-how on how to actually do it.
How doyou approach debuggingand problemsolving when faced with a complex issue?
Just like how computers work with 0s and 1s to complete complex tasks, complex issues can be broken down into simpler components and tackled individually. When that fails, then it is usually due to assumptions on where the problem is not. When that happens, it’s usually best to get a different perspective. That can come in the form of walking someone else through the problem, or even something as simple as just moving on and coming back to the problem later with a fresh mindset.
What’s one feature or tool you’ve developed that you’re particularly proud of?
There is the custom expression syntax I mentioned earlier, but even more than that I’d have to say is a clipboard management tool I work on as a personal project and use extensively for work. It came about because I noticed that there are tedious things I repeatedly do, and I figured making a tool to do those tedious things faster and easier would more than makeup for the time spent making it. And if not, then it would at least be a fun problem-solving experience that just may teach me something that I didn’t know before.
Whatadvice would you givetosomeonelooking to start a career in software development?
Invest in yourself. Come up with project ideas and try to implement them. Challenge yourself by coming up with projects that may require dabbling in an unfamiliar language or with an unfamiliar system. But more than anything, make sure they are projects you enjoy or find interesting. It can take time, but passion is a great thing to have, and nurturing that is the most likely wayto avoid giving up and increasing the chances for success. Failure is temporary, but giving up is forever.
